Matthew 10

1 He summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to drivethem out and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of il ness.	1 Chiamati a sé i suoi dodici discepoli, diede loro potere sugli spiriti impuri per scacciarli e guarire ogni malattia e ogni infermità.
2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon who is known as Peter, and his brotherAndrew; James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;	2 I nomi dei dodici apostoli sono: primo, Simone, chiamato Pietro, e Andrea suo fratello; Giacomo, figlio di Zebedeo, e Giovanni suo fratello;
3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax col ector; James the son of Alphaeus, andThaddaeus;	3 Filippo e Bartolomeo; Tommaso e Matteo il pubblicano; Giacomo, figlio di Alfeo, e Taddeo;
4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who was also his betrayer.	4 Simone il Cananeo e Giuda l’Iscariota, colui che poi lo tradì.
5 These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them as fol ows: 'Do not make your way to gentile territory,and do not enter any Samaritan town;	5 Questi sono i Dodici che Gesù inviò, ordinando loro: «Non andate fra i pagani e non entrate nelle città dei Samaritani;
6 go instead to the lost sheep of the House of Israel.	6 rivolgetevi piuttosto alle pecore perdute della casa d’Israele.
7 And as you go, proclaim that the kingdom of Heaven is close at hand.	7 Strada facendo, predicate, dicendo che il regno dei cieli è vicino.
8 Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those suffering from virulent skin-diseases, drive out devils. Youreceived without charge, give without charge.	8 Guarite gli infermi, risuscitate i morti, purificate i lebbrosi, scacciate i demòni. Gratuitamente avete ricevuto, gratuitamente date.
9 Provide yourselves with no gold or silver, not even with coppers for your purses,	9 Non procuratevi oro né argento né denaro nelle vostre cinture,
10 with no haversack for the journey or spare tunic or footwear or a staff, for the labourer deserves hiskeep.	10 né sacca da viaggio, né due tuniche, né sandali, né bastone, perché chi lavora ha diritto al suo nutrimento.
11 'Whatever town or vil age you go into, seek out someone worthy and stay with him until you leave.	11 In qualunque città o villaggio entriate, domandate chi là sia degno e rimanetevi finché non sarete partiti.
12 As you enter his house, salute it,	12 Entrando nella casa, rivolgetele il saluto.
13 and if the house deserves it, may your peace come upon it; if it does not, may your peace come backto you.	13 Se quella casa ne è degna, la vostra pace scenda su di essa; ma se non ne è degna, la vostra pace ritorni a voi.
14 And if anyone does not welcome you or listen to what you have to say, as you walk out of the houseor town shake the dust from your feet.	14 Se qualcuno poi non vi accoglie e non dà ascolto alle vostre parole, uscite da quella casa o da quella città e scuotete la polvere dei vostri piedi.
15 In truth I tel you, on the Day of Judgement it wil be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah than forthat town.	15 In verità io vi dico: nel giorno del giudizio la terra di Sòdoma e Gomorra sarà trattata meno duramente di quella città.
16 Look, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; so be cunning as snakes and yet innocent asdoves.	16 Ecco: io vi mando come pecore in mezzo a lupi; siate dunque prudenti come i serpenti e semplici come le colombe.
17 'Be prepared for people to hand you over to sanhedrins and scourge you in their synagogues.	17 Guardatevi dagli uomini, perché vi consegneranno ai tribunali e vi flagelleranno nelle loro sinagoghe;
18 You will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as evidence to them and to the gentiles.	18 e sarete condotti davanti a governatori e re per causa mia, per dare testimonianza a loro e ai pagani.
19 But when you are handed over, do not worry about how to speak or what to say; what you are to saywil be given to you when the time comes,	19 Ma, quando vi consegneranno, non preoccupatevi di come o di che cosa direte, perché vi sarà dato in quell’ora ciò che dovrete dire:
20 because it is not you who wil be speaking; the Spirit of your Father wil be speaking in you.	20 infatti non siete voi a parlare, ma è lo Spirito del Padre vostro che parla in voi.
21 'Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children wil come forward against theirparents and have them put to death.	21 Il fratello farà morire il fratello e il padre il figlio, e i figli si alzeranno ad accusare i genitori e li uccideranno.
22 You will be universally hated on account of my name; but anyone who stands firm to the end wil besaved.	22 Sarete odiati da tutti a causa del mio nome. Ma chi avrà perseverato fino alla fine sarà salvato.
23 If they persecute you in one town, take refuge in the next; and if they persecute you in that, takerefuge in another. In truth I tel you, you wil not have gone the round of the towns of Israel before the Son of mancomes.	23 Quando sarete perseguitati in una città, fuggite in un’altra; in verità io vi dico: non avrete finito di percorrere le città d’Israele, prima che venga il Figlio dell’uomo.
24 'Disciple is not superior to teacher, nor slave to master.	24 Un discepolo non è più grande del maestro, né un servo è più grande del suo signore;
25 It is enough for disciple to grow to be like teacher, and slave like master. If they have called themaster of the house "Beelzebul", how much more the members of his household?	25 è sufficiente per il discepolo diventare come il suo maestro e per il servo come il suo signore. Se hanno chiamato Beelzebùl il padrone di casa, quanto più quelli della sua famiglia!
26 'So do not be afraid of them. Everything now covered up wil be uncovered, and everything nowhidden wil be made clear.	26 Non abbiate dunque paura di loro, poiché nulla vi è di nascosto che non sarà svelato né di segreto che non sarà conosciuto.
27 What I say to you in the dark, tel in the daylight; what you hear in whispers, proclaim from thehousetops.	27 Quello che io vi dico nelle tenebre voi ditelo nella luce, e quello che ascoltate all’orecchio voi annunciatelo dalle terrazze.
28 'Do not be afraid of those who kil the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroyboth body and soul in hell.	28 E non abbiate paura di quelli che uccidono il corpo, ma non hanno potere di uccidere l’anima; abbiate paura piuttosto di colui che ha il potere di far perire nella Geènna e l’anima e il corpo.
29 Can you not buy two sparrows for a penny? And yet not one falls to the ground without your Fatherknowing.	29 Due passeri non si vendono forse per un soldo? Eppure nemmeno uno di essi cadrà a terra senza il volere del Padre vostro.
30 Why, every hair on your head has been counted.	30 Perfino i capelli del vostro capo sono tutti contati.
31 So there is no need to be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.	31 Non abbiate dunque paura: voi valete più di molti passeri!
32 'So if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of human beings, I wil declare myself for him inthe presence of my Father in heaven.	32 Perciò chiunque mi riconoscerà davanti agli uomini, anch’io lo riconoscerò davanti al Padre mio che è nei cieli;
33 But the one who disowns me in the presence of human beings, I wil disown in the presence of myFather in heaven.	33 chi invece mi rinnegherà davanti agli uomini, anch’io lo rinnegherò davanti al Padre mio che è nei cieli.
34 'Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth: it is not peace I have come to bring, buta sword.	34 Non crediate che io sia venuto a portare pace sulla terra; sono venuto a portare non pace, ma spada.
35 For I have come to set son against father, daughter against mother, daughter-in-law against mother-in-law;	35 Sono infatti venuto a separare l’uomo da suo padre e la figlia da sua madre e la nuora da sua suocera;
36 a person's enemies will be the members of his own household.	36 e nemici dell’uomo saranno quelli della sua casa.
37 'No one who prefers father or mother to me is worthy of me. No one who prefers son or daughter tome is worthy of me.	37 Chi ama padre o madre più di me, non è degno di me; chi ama figlio o figlia più di me, non è degno di me;
38 Anyone who does not take his cross and fol ow in my footsteps is not worthy of me.	38 chi non prende la propria croce e non mi segue, non è degno di me.
39 Anyone who finds his life wil lose it; anyone who loses his life for my sake wil find it.	39 Chi avrà tenuto per sé la propria vita, la perderà, e chi avrà perduto la propria vita per causa mia, la troverà.
40 'Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me; and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one whosent me.	40 Chi accoglie voi accoglie me, e chi accoglie me accoglie colui che mi ha mandato.
41 'Anyone who welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet wil have a prophet's reward; and anyonewho welcomes an upright person because he is upright wil have the reward of an upright person.	41 Chi accoglie un profeta perché è un profeta, avrà la ricompensa del profeta, e chi accoglie un giusto perché è un giusto, avrà la ricompensa del giusto.
42 'If anyone gives so much as a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple,then in truth I tel you, he wil most certainly not go without his reward.'	42 Chi avrà dato da bere anche un solo bicchiere d’acqua fresca a uno di questi piccoli perché è un discepolo, in verità io vi dico: non perderà la sua ricompensa».
