Matthew 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 He summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to drivethem out and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of il ness.	1 Y llamando a sus doce discípulos, les dio poder sobre los espíritus inmundos para expulsarlos, y para curar toda enfermedad y toda dolencia.
2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon who is known as Peter, and his brotherAndrew; James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;	2 Los nombres de los doce Apóstoles son éstos: primero Simón, llamado Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; Santiago el de Zebedeo y su hermano Juan;
3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax col ector; James the son of Alphaeus, andThaddaeus;	3 Felipe y Bartolomé; Tomás y Mateo el publicano; Santiago el de Alfeo y Tadeo;
4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who was also his betrayer.	4 Simón el Cananeo y Judas el Iscariote, el mismo que le entregó.
5 These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them as fol ows: 'Do not make your way to gentile territory,and do not enter any Samaritan town;	5 A estos doce envió Jesús, después de darles estas instrucciones: «No toméis camino de gentiles ni entréis en ciudad de samaritanos;
6 go instead to the lost sheep of the House of Israel.	6 dirigíos más bien a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel.
7 And as you go, proclaim that the kingdom of Heaven is close at hand.	7 Id proclamando que el Reino de los Cielos está cerca.
8 Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those suffering from virulent skin-diseases, drive out devils. Youreceived without charge, give without charge.	8 Curad enfermos, resucitad muertos, purificad leprosos, expulsad demonios. Gratis lo recibisteis; dadlo gratis.
9 Provide yourselves with no gold or silver, not even with coppers for your purses,	9 No os procuréis oro, ni plata, ni calderilla en vuestras fajas;
10 with no haversack for the journey or spare tunic or footwear or a staff, for the labourer deserves hiskeep.	10 ni alforja para el camino, ni dos túnicas, ni sandalias, ni bastón; porque el obrero merece su sustento.
11 'Whatever town or vil age you go into, seek out someone worthy and stay with him until you leave.	11 «En la ciudad o pueblo en que entréis, informaos de quién hay en él digno, y quedaos allí hasta que salgáis.
12 As you enter his house, salute it,	12 Al entrar en la casa, saludadla.
13 and if the house deserves it, may your peace come upon it; if it does not, may your peace come backto you.	13 Si la casa es digna, llegue a ella vuestra paz; mas si no es digna, vuestra paz se vuelva a vosotros.
14 And if anyone does not welcome you or listen to what you have to say, as you walk out of the houseor town shake the dust from your feet.	14 Y si no se os recibe ni se escuchan vuestras palabras, salid de la casa o de la ciudad aquella sacudiendo el polvo de vuestros pies.
15 In truth I tel you, on the Day of Judgement it wil be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah than forthat town.	15 Yo os aseguro: el día del Juicio habrá menos rigor para la tierra de Sodoma y Gomorra que para aquella ciudad.
16 Look, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; so be cunning as snakes and yet innocent asdoves.	16 «Mirad que yo os envío como ovejas en medio de lobos. Sed, pues, prudentes como las serpientes, y sencillos como las palomas.
17 'Be prepared for people to hand you over to sanhedrins and scourge you in their synagogues.	17 Guardaos de los hombres, porque os entregarán a los tribunales y os azotarán en sus sinagogas;
18 You will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as evidence to them and to the gentiles.	18 y por mi causa seréis llevados ante gobernadores y reyes, para que deis testimonio ante ellos y ante los gentiles.
19 But when you are handed over, do not worry about how to speak or what to say; what you are to saywil be given to you when the time comes,	19 Mas cuando os entreguen, no os preocupéis de cómo o qué vais a hablar. Lo que tengáis que hablar se os comunicará en aquel momento.
20 because it is not you who wil be speaking; the Spirit of your Father wil be speaking in you.	20 Porque no seréis vosotros los que hablaréis, sino el Espíritu de vuestro Padre el que hablará en vosotros.
21 'Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children wil come forward against theirparents and have them put to death.	21 «Entregará a la muerte hermano a hermano y padre a hijo; se levantarán hijos contra padres y los matarán.
22 You will be universally hated on account of my name; but anyone who stands firm to the end wil besaved.	22 Y seréis odiados de todos por causa de mi nombre; pero el que persevere hasta el fin, ése se salvará.
23 If they persecute you in one town, take refuge in the next; and if they persecute you in that, takerefuge in another. In truth I tel you, you wil not have gone the round of the towns of Israel before the Son of mancomes.	23 «Cuando os persigan en una ciudad huid a otra, y si también en ésta os persiguen, marchaos a otra. Yo os aseguro: no acabaréis de recorrer las ciudades de Israel antes que venga el Hijo del hombre.
24 'Disciple is not superior to teacher, nor slave to master.	24 «No está el discípulo por encima del maestro, ni el siervo por encima de su amo.
25 It is enough for disciple to grow to be like teacher, and slave like master. If they have called themaster of the house "Beelzebul", how much more the members of his household?	25 Ya le basta al discípulo ser como su maestro, y al siervo como su amo. Si al dueño de la casa le han llamado Beelzebul, ¡cuánto más a sus domésticos!
26 'So do not be afraid of them. Everything now covered up wil be uncovered, and everything nowhidden wil be made clear.	26 «No les tengáis miedo. Pues no hay nada encubierto que no haya de ser descubierto, ni oculto que no haya de saberse.
27 What I say to you in the dark, tel in the daylight; what you hear in whispers, proclaim from thehousetops.	27 Lo que yo os digo en la oscuridad, decidlo vosotros a la luz; y lo que oís al oído, proclamadlo desde los terrados.
28 'Do not be afraid of those who kil the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroyboth body and soul in hell.	28 «Y no temáis a los que matan el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma; temed más bien a Aquel que puede llevar a la perdición alma y cuerpo en la gehenna.
29 Can you not buy two sparrows for a penny? And yet not one falls to the ground without your Fatherknowing.	29 ¿No se venden dos pajarillos por un as? Pues bien, ni uno de ellos caerá en tierra sin el consentimiento de vuestro Padre.
30 Why, every hair on your head has been counted.	30 En cuanto a vosotros, hasta los cabellos de vuestra cabeza están todos contados.
31 So there is no need to be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.	31 No temáis, pues; vosotros valéis más que muchos pajarillos.
32 'So if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of human beings, I wil declare myself for him inthe presence of my Father in heaven.	32 «Por todo aquel que se declare por mí ante los hombres, yo también me declararé por él ante mi Padre que está en los cielos;
33 But the one who disowns me in the presence of human beings, I wil disown in the presence of myFather in heaven.	33 pero a quien me niegue ante los hombres, le negaré yo también ante mi Padre que está en los cielos.
34 'Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth: it is not peace I have come to bring, buta sword.	34 «No penséis que he venido a traer paz a la tierra. No he venido a traer paz, sino espada.
35 For I have come to set son against father, daughter against mother, daughter-in-law against mother-in-law;	35 Sí, he venido a enfrentar al hombre con su padre, a la hija con su madre, a la nuera con su suegra;
36 a person's enemies will be the members of his own household.	36 y enemigos de cada cual serán los que conviven con él.
37 'No one who prefers father or mother to me is worthy of me. No one who prefers son or daughter tome is worthy of me.	37 «El que ama a su padre o a su madre más que a mí, no es digno de mí; el que ama a su hijo o a su hija más que a mí, no es digno de mí.
38 Anyone who does not take his cross and fol ow in my footsteps is not worthy of me.	38 El que no toma su cruz y me sigue detrás no es digno de mí.
39 Anyone who finds his life wil lose it; anyone who loses his life for my sake wil find it.	39 El que encuentre su vida, la perderá; y el que pierda su vida por mí, la encontrará.
40 'Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me; and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one whosent me.	40 «Quien a vosotros recibe, a mí me recibe, y quien me recibe a mí, recibe a Aquel que me ha enviado.
41 'Anyone who welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet wil have a prophet's reward; and anyonewho welcomes an upright person because he is upright wil have the reward of an upright person.	41 «Quien reciba a un profeta por ser profeta, recompensa de profeta recibirá, y quien reciba a un justo por ser justo, recompensa de justo recibirá.
42 'If anyone gives so much as a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple,then in truth I tel you, he wil most certainly not go without his reward.'	42 «Y todo aquel que dé de beber tan sólo un vaso de agua fresca a uno de estos pequeños, por ser discípulo, os aseguro que no perderá su recompensa».
