Matthew 10

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 He summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to drivethem out and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of il ness.	1 Jesús convocó a sus doce discípulos y les dio el poder de expulsar a los espíritus impuros y de curar cualquier enfermedad o dolencia.
2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon who is known as Peter, and his brotherAndrew; James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;	2 Los nombres de los doce Apóstoles son: en primer lugar, Simón, de sobrenombre Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; luego, Santiago, hijo de Zebedeo, y su hermano Juan;
3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax col ector; James the son of Alphaeus, andThaddaeus;	3 Felipe y Bartolomé; Tomás y Mateo, el publicano; Santiago, hijo de Alfeo, y Tadeo;
4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who was also his betrayer.	4 Simón, el Cananeo, y Judas Iscariote, el mismo que lo entregó.
5 These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them as fol ows: 'Do not make your way to gentile territory,and do not enter any Samaritan town;	5 A estos Doce, Jesús los envió con las siguientes instrucciones: «No vayan a regiones paganas, ni entren en ninguna ciudad de los samaritanos.
6 go instead to the lost sheep of the House of Israel.	6 Vayan, en cambio, a las ovejas perdidas del pueblo de Israel.
7 And as you go, proclaim that the kingdom of Heaven is close at hand.	7 Por el camino, proclamen que el Reino de los Cielos está cerca.
8 Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those suffering from virulent skin-diseases, drive out devils. Youreceived without charge, give without charge.	8 Curen a los enfermos, resuciten a los muertos, purifiquen a los leprosos, expulsen a los demonios. Ustedes han recibido gratuitamente, den también gratuitamente.
9 Provide yourselves with no gold or silver, not even with coppers for your purses,	9 No lleven encima oro ni plata, ni monedas,
10 with no haversack for the journey or spare tunic or footwear or a staff, for the labourer deserves hiskeep.	10 ni provisiones para el camino, ni dos túnicas, ni calzado, ni bastón; porque el que trabaja merece su sustento.
11 'Whatever town or vil age you go into, seek out someone worthy and stay with him until you leave.	11 Cuando entren en una ciudad o en un pueblo, busquen a alguna persona respetable y permanezcan en su casa hasta el momento de partir.
12 As you enter his house, salute it,	12 Al entrar en la casa, salúdenla invocando la paz sobre ella.
13 and if the house deserves it, may your peace come upon it; if it does not, may your peace come backto you.	13 Si esa casa lo merece, que la paz descienda sobre ella; pero si es indigna, que esa paz vuelva a ustedes.
14 And if anyone does not welcome you or listen to what you have to say, as you walk out of the houseor town shake the dust from your feet.	14 Y si no los reciben ni quieren escuchar sus palabras, al irse de esa casa o de esa ciudad, sacudan hasta el polvo de sus pies.
15 In truth I tel you, on the Day of Judgement it wil be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah than forthat town.	15 Les aseguro que, en el día del Juicio, Sodoma y Gomorra serán tratadas menos rigurosamente que esa ciudad.
16 Look, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; so be cunning as snakes and yet innocent asdoves.	16 Yo los envío como a ovejas en medio de lobos: sean entonces astutos como serpientes y sencillos como palomas.
17 'Be prepared for people to hand you over to sanhedrins and scourge you in their synagogues.	17 Cuídense de los hombres, porque los entregarán a los tribunales y los azotarán en las sinagogas.
18 You will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as evidence to them and to the gentiles.	18 A causa de mí, serán llevados ante gobernadores y reyes, para dar testimonio delante de ellos y de los paganos.
19 But when you are handed over, do not worry about how to speak or what to say; what you are to saywil be given to you when the time comes,	19 Cuando los entreguen, no se preocupen de cómo van a hablar o qué van a decir: lo que deban decir se les dará a conocer en ese momento,
20 because it is not you who wil be speaking; the Spirit of your Father wil be speaking in you.	20 porque no serán ustedes los que hablarán, sino que el Espíritu de su Padre hablará en ustedes.
21 'Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children wil come forward against theirparents and have them put to death.	21 El hermano entregará a su hermano para que sea condenado a muerte, y el padre a su hijo; los hijos se rebelarán contra sus padres y los harán morir.
22 You will be universally hated on account of my name; but anyone who stands firm to the end wil besaved.	22 Ustedes serán odiados por todos a causa de mi Nombre, pero aquel que persevere hasta el fin se salvará.
23 If they persecute you in one town, take refuge in the next; and if they persecute you in that, takerefuge in another. In truth I tel you, you wil not have gone the round of the towns of Israel before the Son of mancomes.	23 Cuando los persigan en una ciudad, huyan a otra, y si los persiguen en esta, huyan a una tercera. Les aseguro que no acabarán de recorrer las ciudades de Israel, antes que llegue el Hijo del hombre.
24 'Disciple is not superior to teacher, nor slave to master.	24 El discípulo no es más que el maestro ni el servidor más que su dueño.
25 It is enough for disciple to grow to be like teacher, and slave like master. If they have called themaster of the house "Beelzebul", how much more the members of his household?	25 Al discípulo le basta ser como su maestro y al servidor como su dueño. Si al dueño de casa lo llamaron Belzebul, ¡cuánto más a los de su casa!
26 'So do not be afraid of them. Everything now covered up wil be uncovered, and everything nowhidden wil be made clear.	26 No les teman. No hay nada oculto que no deba ser revelado, y nada secreto que no deba ser conocido.
27 What I say to you in the dark, tel in the daylight; what you hear in whispers, proclaim from thehousetops.	27 Lo que yo les digo en la oscuridad, repítanlo en pleno día; y lo que escuchen al oído, proclámenlo desde lo alto de las casas.
28 'Do not be afraid of those who kil the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroyboth body and soul in hell.	28 No teman a los que matan el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma. Teman más bien a aquel que puede arrojar el alma y el cuerpo a la Gehena.
29 Can you not buy two sparrows for a penny? And yet not one falls to the ground without your Fatherknowing.	29 ¿Acaso no se vende un par de pájaros por unas monedas? Sin embargo, ni uno solo de ellos cae en tierra, sin el consentimiento del Padre que está en el cielo.
30 Why, every hair on your head has been counted.	30 Ustedes tienen contados todos sus cabellos.
31 So there is no need to be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.	31 No teman entonces, porque valen más que muchos pájaros.
32 'So if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of human beings, I wil declare myself for him inthe presence of my Father in heaven.	32 Al que me reconozca abiertamente ante los hombres, yo los reconoceré ante mi Padre que está en el cielo.
33 But the one who disowns me in the presence of human beings, I wil disown in the presence of myFather in heaven.	33 Pero yo renegaré ante mi Padre que está en el cielo de aquel que reniegue de mí ante los hombres.
34 'Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth: it is not peace I have come to bring, buta sword.	34 No piensen que he venido a traer la paz sobre la tierra. No vine a traer la paz, sino la espada.
35 For I have come to set son against father, daughter against mother, daughter-in-law against mother-in-law;	35 Porque he venido a enfrentar al hijo con su padre, a la hija con su madre y a la nuera con su suegra;
36 a person's enemies will be the members of his own household.	36 y así, el hombre tendrá como enemigos a los de su propia casa.
37 'No one who prefers father or mother to me is worthy of me. No one who prefers son or daughter tome is worthy of me.	37 El que ama a su padre o a su madre más que a mí, no es digno de mí; y el que ama a su hijo o a su hija más que a mí, no es digno de mí.
38 Anyone who does not take his cross and fol ow in my footsteps is not worthy of me.	38 El que no toma su cruz y me sigue, no es digno de mí.
39 Anyone who finds his life wil lose it; anyone who loses his life for my sake wil find it.	39 El que encuentre su vida, la perderá; y el que pierda su vida por mí, la encontrará.
40 'Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me; and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one whosent me.	40 El que los recibe a ustedes, me recibe a mí; y el que me recibe, recibe a aquel que me envió.
41 'Anyone who welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet wil have a prophet's reward; and anyonewho welcomes an upright person because he is upright wil have the reward of an upright person.	41 El que recibe a un profeta por ser profeta, tendrá la recompensa de un profeta; y el que recibe a un justo, tendrá la recompensa de un justo.
42 'If anyone gives so much as a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple,then in truth I tel you, he wil most certainly not go without his reward.'	42 Les aseguro que cualquiera que dé a beber, aunque sólo sea un vaso de agua fresca, a uno de estos pequeños por ser mi discípulo, no quedará sin recompensa».
