Zephaniah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 The word of Yahweh which was addressed to Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son ofAmariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah.	1 Oráculos do Senhor dirigidos a Sofonias, filho de Cusi, filho de Godolias, filho de Amarias, filho de Ezequias, no tempo de Josias, filho de Amon, rei de Judá.
2 I shall sweep away everything off the face of the earth, declares Yahweh.	2 Destruirei tudo sobre a face de terra - oráculo do Senhor;
3 I shall sweep away humans and animals, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, I shal topple thewicked and wipe al people off the face of the earth -declares Yahweh.	3 farei perecer homens e animais, aves do céu e peixes do mar; exterminarei os ímpios com seus escândalos, farei desaparecer os homens da superfície do mundo - oráculo do Senhor.
4 I shall raise my hand against Judah and against al who live in Jerusalem, and from this place I wil wipeout Baal's remnant, the very name of his priests,	4 Estenderei a mão contra Judá, e contra os habitantes de Jerusalém, e exterminarei desse lugar tudo o que resta de Baal, até o nome de seus servos e de seus sacerdotes:
5 and those who prostrate themselves on the roofs before the array of heaven, and those who prostratethemselves before Yahweh but swear by Milcom,	5 os que se prostram nos terraços para adorar a imensidão dos astros; os que se prostram e fazem juramentos ora em nome do Senhor, ora em nome de seu deus;
6 and those who have turned their back on Yahweh, who do not seek Yahweh and do not consult him.	6 e também os que se desviam do Senhor, que não o buscam nem se preocupam com ele.
7 Silence before Lord Yahweh, for the Day of Yahweh is near! Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice, he hasconsecrated his guests.	7 Silêncio diante do Senhor Javé! Porque o dia do Senhor está próximo, o Senhor preparou um sacrifício, santificou os seus convidados.
8 On the Day of Yahweh's sacrifice, I shal punish the courtiers, the royal princes and al who dress inoutlandish clothes.	8 No dia do sacrifício do Senhor, castigarei os chefes e os príncipes reais, e todos os que se vestem como os estrangeiros.
9 On that day I shal punish al who go up the Step and fil the Temple of their lords, with violence anddeceit.	9 Castigarei naquele dia todos os que forçam as soleiras das portas, e enchem a casa de seu amo de bens fraudulentos ou extorquidos com violência.
10 On that Day -- declares Yahweh -- uproar wil be heard from the Fish Gate, wailing from the NewQuarter and a great crash from the hil s.	10 Naquele dia - oráculo do Senhor - haverá muitos clamores à Porta dos Peixes, gemidos do lado da cidade nova, e um grande tumulto do lado das colinas.
11 Wail, you who live in the Hollow, for it is al over with the merchants, all the money-bags have beenwiped out!	11 Lamentai-vos, habitantes do Morteiro, porque todo o povo dos mercadores foi aniquilado, todos os traficantes de prata foram exterminados.
12 When that time comes I shal search Jerusalem by lamplight and punish the men stagnating over theremains of their wine, who say in their hearts, 'Yahweh can do nothing, either good or bad.'	12 Naquele tempo, inspecionarei Jerusalém com lanternas, castigarei os homens que, sentados em sua borra, dizem consigo mesmos: O Senhor não faz bem nem mal.
13 For this, their wealth wil be looted and their houses laid in ruins; they wil build houses but not live inthem, they wil plant vineyards but not drink their wine.	13 Seus bens serão entregues à pilhagem, suas moradas serão saqueadas. Edificarão casas, mas não as habitarão, plantarão vinhas, mas não beberão de seu vinho.
14 The great Day of Yahweh is near, near, and coming with great speed. How bitter the sound of the Dayof Yahweh, the Day when the warrior shouts his cry of war.	14 Eis que se aproxima o grande dia do Senhor! Ele se aproxima rapidamente. Terrível é o ruído que faz o dia do Senhor; o mais forte soltará gritos de amargura nesse dia.
15 That Day is a day of retribution, a day of distress and tribulation, a day of ruin and of devastation, aday of darkness and gloom, a day of cloud and thick fog,	15 Esse dia será um dia de ira, dia de angústia e de aflição, dia de ruína e de devastação; dia de trevas e escuridão, dia de nuvens e de névoas espessas,
16 a day of trumpet blast and battle cry against fortified town and high corner-tower.	16 dia de trombeta e de alarme, contra as cidades fortes e as torres elevadas.
17 I shal bring such distress on humanity that they will grope their way like the blind for having sinnedagainst Yahweh. Their blood wil be poured out like mud, yes, their corpses like dung;	17 Mergulharei os homens na aflição, e eles andarão como cegos porque pecaram contra o Senhor. Seu sangue será derramado como o pó, e suas entranhas como o lixo.
18 nor wil their silver or gold be able to save them. On the Day of Yahweh's anger, by the fire of hisjealousy, the whole earth will be consumed. For he will destroy, yes, annihilate everyone living on earth.	18 Nem sua prata, nem seu ouro poderão salvá-los no dia da cólera do Senhor. Toda a terra será devorada pelo fogo de seu zelo, porque ele aniquilará de repente toda a população da terra.
