Zephaniah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 The word of Yahweh which was addressed to Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son ofAmariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah.	1 - Parola del Signore comunicata a Sofonia, figlio di Cusi, figlio di Godolia, figlio di Amaria, figlio di Ezechia, ai tempi di Josia, figlio di Amon re di Giuda.
2 I shall sweep away everything off the face of the earth, declares Yahweh.	2 «Io raccoglierò ogni cosa dalla faccia della terra, dice il Signore.
3 I shall sweep away humans and animals, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, I shal topple thewicked and wipe al people off the face of the earth -declares Yahweh.	3 Raccoglierò la gente e i bestiami, raccoglierò gli uccelli del cielo ed i pesci del mare, e la rovina degli empi arriverà, e sterminerò dalla faccia della terra gli uomini, dice il Signore.
4 I shall raise my hand against Judah and against al who live in Jerusalem, and from this place I wil wipeout Baal's remnant, the very name of his priests,	4 E sopra Giuda stenderò la mia mano e sopra tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, e disperderò da cotesto luogo gli avanzi di Baal e i nomi degli inservienti e dei sacerdoti insieme;
5 and those who prostrate themselves on the roofs before the array of heaven, and those who prostratethemselves before Yahweh but swear by Milcom,	5 e quelli che sulle terrazze adorano la milizia del cielo, che adorano e giurano pel Signore e giurano per Melcom;
6 and those who have turned their back on Yahweh, who do not seek Yahweh and do not consult him.	6 e quelli che si ritirano dal Signore e quelli che non cercarono il Signore e non vollero più curarsi di lui.
7 Silence before Lord Yahweh, for the Day of Yahweh is near! Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice, he hasconsecrated his guests.	7 Silenzio davanti al Signore Dio! Perchè il giorno del Signore è vicino, perchè il Signore ha preparato un sacrificio di vittime e ha designati i suoi convitati.
8 On the Day of Yahweh's sacrifice, I shal punish the courtiers, the royal princes and al who dress inoutlandish clothes.	8 E avverrà: nel giorno del sacrifizio del Signore io visiterò i principi e i figli del re e tutti coloro che vestono abiti peregrini.
9 On that day I shal punish al who go up the Step and fil the Temple of their lords, with violence anddeceit.	9 E visiterò ognuno che entra pomposamente per la soglia, quei che riempiono la casa del Signore Dio loro di iniquità e di frode.
10 On that Day -- declares Yahweh -- uproar wil be heard from the Fish Gate, wailing from the NewQuarter and a great crash from the hil s.	10 E in quel giorno, dice il Signore, vi sarà voce di clamore dalla Porta dei Pesci, e urla dalla Seconda, e gran costernazione dai colli.
11 Wail, you who live in the Hollow, for it is al over with the merchants, all the money-bags have beenwiped out!	11 Urlate, o abitanti del Mortaio, perchè tutto il popolo di mercanti tace, sono periti tutti quelli che erano imbottiti di denaro.
12 When that time comes I shal search Jerusalem by lamplight and punish the men stagnating over theremains of their wine, who say in their hearts, 'Yahweh can do nothing, either good or bad.'	12 E verrà tempo in cui io frugherò Gerusalemme con le lanterne, e visiterò gli uomini fitti nelle loro fecce, i quali dicono in cuor loro: " Il Signore non fa nè il bene nè il male. "
13 For this, their wealth wil be looted and their houses laid in ruins; they wil build houses but not live inthem, they wil plant vineyards but not drink their wine.	13 E le loro sostanze saranno messe a sacco e le loro case ridotte in un deserto; edificheranno case, ma non le abiteranno; pianteranno vigne, ma non berranno il vino.
14 The great Day of Yahweh is near, near, and coming with great speed. How bitter the sound of the Dayof Yahweh, the Day when the warrior shouts his cry of war.	14 Il gran giorno del Signore si avvicina; a grandi passi s'avvicina, il richiamo amaro del giorno del Signore; anche il forte resterà costernato!
15 That Day is a day of retribution, a day of distress and tribulation, a day of ruin and of devastation, aday of darkness and gloom, a day of cloud and thick fog,	15 Giorno d'ira, quel giorno! Giorno di tribolazione e di angoscia, giorno di calamità e di miseria, giorno di tenebre e di oscurità, giorno di nembo e di bufera,
16 a day of trumpet blast and battle cry against fortified town and high corner-tower.	16 giorno di tromba e di squillo, contro le città fortificate e contro gli angoli prominenti.
17 I shal bring such distress on humanity that they will grope their way like the blind for having sinnedagainst Yahweh. Their blood wil be poured out like mud, yes, their corpses like dung;	17 E ridurrò in angustia gli uomini; andranno brancolando come ciechi, perchè hanno offeso il Signore; e il loro sangue sarà sparso come mota e i loro cadaveri come letame.
18 nor wil their silver or gold be able to save them. On the Day of Yahweh's anger, by the fire of hisjealousy, the whole earth will be consumed. For he will destroy, yes, annihilate everyone living on earth.	18 Ma, nè il loro argento, nè il loro oro potrà scamparli nel giorno d'ira del Signore; tutta la terra sarà consumata dall'ardore dell'animo suo ingelosito, perchè farà uno sterminio completo e repentino di tutti gli abitanti della terra.
