Zephaniah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 The word of Yahweh which was addressed to Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son ofAmariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah.	1 Palabra de Yahveh que fue dirigida a Sofonías, hijo de Kusí, hijo de Guedalías, hijo de Amarías, hijo de Ezequías, en tiempo de Josías, hijo de Amón, rey de Judá.
2 I shall sweep away everything off the face of the earth, declares Yahweh.	2 ¡Voy a aventarlo todo de la haz de la tierra!, oráculo de Yahveh.
3 I shall sweep away humans and animals, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, I shal topple thewicked and wipe al people off the face of the earth -declares Yahweh.	3 Aventaré hombres y bestias, aventaré aves del cielo y peces del mar, haré tropezar a los impíos; extirparé a los hombres de sobre la haz de la tierra, oráculo de Yahveh.
4 I shall raise my hand against Judah and against al who live in Jerusalem, and from this place I wil wipeout Baal's remnant, the very name of his priests,	4 Extenderé mi mano contra Judá, y contra todos los habitantes de Jerusalén, y extirparé de este lugar lo que queda de Baal, el nombre de los ministros con los sacerdotes,
5 and those who prostrate themselves on the roofs before the array of heaven, and those who prostratethemselves before Yahweh but swear by Milcom,	5 los que se postran en los terrados ante el ejército del cielo, los que se postran ante Yahveh y juran por Milkom,
6 and those who have turned their back on Yahweh, who do not seek Yahweh and do not consult him.	6 los que se apartan del seguimiento de Yahveh, los que no buscan a Yahveh ni le consultan.
7 Silence before Lord Yahweh, for the Day of Yahweh is near! Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice, he hasconsecrated his guests.	7 ¡Silencio ante el Señor Yahveh, porque el Día de Yahveh está cerca! Sí, Yahveh ha preparado un sacrificio, ha consagrado a sus invitados.
8 On the Day of Yahweh's sacrifice, I shal punish the courtiers, the royal princes and al who dress inoutlandish clothes.	8 Sucederá en el día del sacrificio de Yahveh que yo visitaré a los príncipes, a los hijos del rey, y a todos los que visten vestido extranjero.
9 On that day I shal punish al who go up the Step and fil the Temple of their lords, with violence anddeceit.	9 Visitaré aquel día a todos los que saltan por encima del umbral, los que llenan la Casa de su Señor de violencia y de fraude.
10 On that Day -- declares Yahweh -- uproar wil be heard from the Fish Gate, wailing from the NewQuarter and a great crash from the hil s.	10 Habrá aquel día - oráculo de Yahveh - gritos de auxilio desde la puerta de los Peces, aullidos desde la ciudad nueva, estruendo enorme desde las colinas.
11 Wail, you who live in the Hollow, for it is al over with the merchants, all the money-bags have beenwiped out!	11 ¡Ululad, habitantes del Mortero, pues ha sido aniquilado todo el pueblo de Canaán, exterminados todos los que pesan plata!
12 When that time comes I shal search Jerusalem by lamplight and punish the men stagnating over theremains of their wine, who say in their hearts, 'Yahweh can do nothing, either good or bad.'	12 Sucederá en el tiempo aquel que yo escrutaré a Jerusalén con lámparas, y visitaré a los hombres que se apelmazan en sus heces, los que dicen en su corazón: «¡Ni bien ni mal hace Yahveh!»
13 For this, their wealth wil be looted and their houses laid in ruins; they wil build houses but not live inthem, they wil plant vineyards but not drink their wine.	13 Será dada al saqueo su riqueza, sus casas a la devastación; casas contruyeron, mas no las habitarán, plantaron viñas, mas no beberán su vino.
14 The great Day of Yahweh is near, near, and coming with great speed. How bitter the sound of the Dayof Yahweh, the Day when the warrior shouts his cry of war.	14 ¡Cercano está el gran Día de Yahveh, cercano, a toda prisa viene! ¡Amargo el ruido del día de Yahveh, dará gritos entonces hasta el bravo!
15 That Day is a day of retribution, a day of distress and tribulation, a day of ruin and of devastation, aday of darkness and gloom, a day of cloud and thick fog,	15 Día de ira el día aquel, día de angustia y de aprieto, día de devastación y desolación, día de tinieblas y de oscuridad, día de nublado y densa niebla,
16 a day of trumpet blast and battle cry against fortified town and high corner-tower.	16 día de trompeta y de clamor, contra las ciudades fortificadas y las torres de los ángulos.
17 I shal bring such distress on humanity that they will grope their way like the blind for having sinnedagainst Yahweh. Their blood wil be poured out like mud, yes, their corpses like dung;	17 Yo pondré a los hombres en aprieto, y ellos como ciegos andarán, (porque pecaron contra Yahveh); su sangre será derramada como polvo, y su carne como excremento.
18 nor wil their silver or gold be able to save them. On the Day of Yahweh's anger, by the fire of hisjealousy, the whole earth will be consumed. For he will destroy, yes, annihilate everyone living on earth.	18 Ni su plata ni su oro podrán salvarlos en el Día de la ira de Yahveh, cuando por el fuego de su celo la tierra entera sea devorada; pues él hará exterminio, ¡y terrorífico!, de todos los habitantes de la tierra.
