Zephaniah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The word of Yahweh which was addressed to Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son ofAmariah, son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah.	1 Palabra del Señor dirigida a Sofonías, hijo de Cusí, hijo de Guedalías, hijo de Amarías, hijo de Ezequías, en tiempos de Josías, hijo de Amón, rey de Judá.
2 I shall sweep away everything off the face of the earth, declares Yahweh.	2 Yo lo arrasaré todo de la superficie de la tierra –oráculo del Señor–.
3 I shall sweep away humans and animals, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, I shal topple thewicked and wipe al people off the face of the earth -declares Yahweh.	3 Arrasaré a los hombres y a las bestias, arrasaré a los pájaros del cielo y a los peces del mar; haré caer a los malvados y extirparé a los hombres de la superficie de la tierra –oráculo del Señor–.
4 I shall raise my hand against Judah and against al who live in Jerusalem, and from this place I wil wipeout Baal's remnant, the very name of his priests,	4 Extenderé mi mano contra Judá y contra todos los habitantes de Jerusalén; extirparé de este lugar todo lo que queda de Baal, el nombre de sus ministros y a los sacerdotes junto con ellos.
5 and those who prostrate themselves on the roofs before the array of heaven, and those who prostratethemselves before Yahweh but swear by Milcom,	5 Exterminaré a los que se postran en las terrazas ante el Ejército de los cielos, a lo que se postran delante del Señor y juran por Milcóm,
6 and those who have turned their back on Yahweh, who do not seek Yahweh and do not consult him.	6 a los que se apartan del Señor, a los que no lo buscan ni lo consultan.
7 Silence before Lord Yahweh, for the Day of Yahweh is near! Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice, he hasconsecrated his guests.	7 ¡Silencio delante del Señor, porque el Día del Señor está cerca! Sí, el Señor ha preparado un sacrificio y ha consagrado a sus invitados.
8 On the Day of Yahweh's sacrifice, I shal punish the courtiers, the royal princes and al who dress inoutlandish clothes.	8 El día del sacrificio del Señor, yo pediré cuenta a los jefes y a los hijos del rey, y a todos los que se visten a la moda extranjera.
9 On that day I shal punish al who go up the Step and fil the Temple of their lords, with violence anddeceit.	9 Aquel día pediré cuenta a todos los que saltan por encima del umbral, a los que llenan de violencia y de fraude la casa de su señor.
10 On that Day -- declares Yahweh -- uproar wil be heard from the Fish Gate, wailing from the NewQuarter and a great crash from the hil s.	10 Aquel día –oráculo del Señor– se oirá un clamor desde la puerta de los Peces, un alarido desde la Ciudad nueva y un gran estruendo desde las colinas.
11 Wail, you who live in the Hollow, for it is al over with the merchants, all the money-bags have beenwiped out!	11 Giman, habitantes del Mortero, porque todos los mercaderes han sido aniquilados, y han sido extirpados todos los que pesan la plata.
12 When that time comes I shal search Jerusalem by lamplight and punish the men stagnating over theremains of their wine, who say in their hearts, 'Yahweh can do nothing, either good or bad.'	12 En aquel tiempo yo escudriñaré con lámparas a Jerusalén y pediré cuenta a los hombres que se sientan sobre sus heces, los que dicen en su corazón: «El Señor no hace ni bien ni mal».
13 For this, their wealth wil be looted and their houses laid in ruins; they wil build houses but not live inthem, they wil plant vineyards but not drink their wine.	13 Entonces, su riqueza será entregada al saqueo y sus casas, a la desolación; construirán casas y no las habitarán, plantarán viñas y no beberán su vino.
14 The great Day of Yahweh is near, near, and coming with great speed. How bitter the sound of the Dayof Yahweh, the Day when the warrior shouts his cry of war.	14 ¡Está cerca el gran Día del Señor! ¡Está cerca y llega rápidamente! ¡Qué amargo es el clamor del Día del Señor! ¡Hasta el valeroso lanza un grito estridente!
15 That Day is a day of retribution, a day of distress and tribulation, a day of ruin and of devastation, aday of darkness and gloom, a day of cloud and thick fog,	15 ¡Día de ira será aquel día, día de angustia y aflicción, día de ruina y desolación, día de tinieblas y oscuridad, día nublado y de sombríos nubarrones,
16 a day of trumpet blast and battle cry against fortified town and high corner-tower.	16 día de sonidos de trompeta y de gritos de guerra contra las ciudades fortificadas y contra las almenas elevadas!
17 I shal bring such distress on humanity that they will grope their way like the blind for having sinnedagainst Yahweh. Their blood wil be poured out like mud, yes, their corpses like dung;	17 Yo llenaré a los hombres de angustia, y ellos caminarán como ciegos, porque han pecado contra el Señor ; su sangre será derramada como polvo y sus entrañas, como estiércol:
18 nor wil their silver or gold be able to save them. On the Day of Yahweh's anger, by the fire of hisjealousy, the whole earth will be consumed. For he will destroy, yes, annihilate everyone living on earth.	18 ni su plata ni su oro podrán librarlos. En el Día de la ira del Señor y por el fuego de sus celos, será devorada toda la tierra; porque él hará un terrible exterminio de todos los habitantes de la tierra.
