NEW JERUSALEMDOUAI-RHEIMS
Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have arrived in the country where you are to live andwhich I am giving to you,2 Speak to the children of Israel and thou shalt say to them: When you shall be come into the land of your habitation, which I will give you,
and you burn food as an offering to Yahweh either as a burnt offering or as a sacrifice, whether inpayment of a vow, or as a voluntary gift, or on the occasion of one of your solemn feasts, from your herds andflocks as a smel pleasing to Yahweh:3 And shall make an offering to the Lord, for a holocaust, or a victim, paying your vows, or voluntarily offering gifts, or in your solemnities burning a sweet savour unto the Lord, of oxen or of sheep:
the offerer wil , as his personal gift to Yahweh, bring a cereal offering of one-tenth of an ephah of fineflour mixed with one-quarter of a hin of oil.4 Whosoever immolateth the victim, shall offer a sacrifice of fine flour, the tenth part of an ephi, tempered with the fourth part of a hin of oil:
You will also make a libation of wine, one-quarter of a hin to each lamb, in addition to the burntoffering or sacrifice.5 And he shall give the same measure of wine to pour out in libations for the holocaust or for the victim. For every lamb,
For a ram, you will make a cereal offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-thirdof a hin of oil,6 And for every ram there shall be a sacrifice of hour of two tenths, which shall be tempered with the third part of a hin of oil:
and a libation of one-third of a hin of wine as a smel pleasing to Yahweh.7 And he shall offer the third part of the same measure of wine for the libation, for a sweet savour to the Lord.
If you offer a bul as a burnt offering or sacrifice, in payment of a vow or as a communion sacrifice forYahweh,8 But when thou offerest a holocaust or sacrifice of oxen, to fulfil thy vow or for victims of peace offerings,
in addition to the animal you wil offer a cereal offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixedwith half a hin of oil,9 Thou shalt give for every ox three tenths of flour tempered with half a hin of oil,
and you wil offer a libation of half a hin of wine, as food burnt as a smel pleasing to Yahweh.10 And wine for libations of the same measure, for an offering of most sweet savour to the Lord.
This wil be done for every bul , every ram, every lamb or kid.11 Thus shalt thou do
Whatever the number of victims you intend to offer, you wil do the same for each of them, howevermany there are.12 For every ox and ram and lamb and kid.
"Every citizen of the country wil act in this way whenever he offers food burnt as a smel pleasing toYahweh;13 Both they that are born in the land, and the strangers
and if an alien residing with you or with your descendants intends to offer food burnt as a smelpleasing to Yahweh, he wil do as you do.14 Shall offer sacrifices after the same rite.
There wil be one law for you, members of the community, and the resident alien alike, a law bindingyour descendants for ever: before Yahweh you and the resident alien are no different.'15 There shall be all one law and judgment both for you and for them who are strangers in the land.
One law, one statute, wil apply for you and the resident alien." '16 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,17 Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them:
'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have entered the country to which I am bringing you,18 When you are come into the land which I will give you,
you wil set a portion aside for Yahweh when you eat that country's bread.19 And shall eat of the bread of that country, you shall separate firstfruits to the Lord,
You wil set one cake aside as the first-fruits of your dough; you will set this offering aside like theone set aside from your threshing.20 Of the things you eat. As you separate firstfruits of your barnfloors:
For al future generations you will set a portion of your dough aside for Yahweh.21 So also shall you give firstfruits of your dough to the Lord.
"If through inadvertence you fail in any of these orders which Yahweh has given to Moses22 And if through ignorance you omit any of these things, which the Lord hath spoken to Moses,
(whatever orders Yahweh has given you or your descendants through Moses, from the day whenYahweh gave his orders),23 And by him hath commanded you, from the day that he began to command and thenceforward,
this is what must be done: "If it is an inadvertence on the part of the community, the community as awhole wil offer a young bull as a burnt offering, as a smell pleasing to Yahweh, with the prescribedaccompanying cereal offering and libation, and a he-goat as a sacrifice for sin.24 And the multitude have forgotten to do it: they shall offer a calf out of the herd, a holocaust for a most sweet savour to the Lord, and the sacrifice and libations thereof, as the ceremonies require, and a buck goat for sin:
The priest wil perform the rite of expiation for the entire community of Israelites, and they wil beforgiven, since it was an inadvertence. Once they have brought their offering as food burnt for Yahweh, and havepresented their sacrifice for sin before Yahweh to make amends for their inadvertence,25 And the priest shall pray for all the multitude of the children of Israel: and it shall be forgiven them, because they sinned ignorantly, offering notwithstanding a burnt offering to the Lord for themselves and for their sin and their ignorance:
the whole community of Israelites wil be forgiven, as also the alien residing with them, since theentire people acted by inadvertence.26 And it shall be forgiven all the people of the children of Israel: and the strangers that sojourn among them: because it is the fault of all the people through ignorance.
"If it is an individual who has sinned by inadvertence, he wil offer a yearling kid as a sacrifice for sin.27 But if one soul shall sin ignorantly, he shall offer a she goat of a year old for his sin.
The priest wil perform the rite of expiation before Yahweh for the person who has gone astray owingto this sin of inadvertence and, expiation having been made for him, he will be forgiven;28 And the priest shall pray for him, because he sinned ignorantly before the Lord: and he shall obtain his pardon, and it shall be forgiven him.
whether he is an Israelite citizen or a resident alien, you wil have one law for anyone who sins byinadvertence.29 The same law shall be for all that sin by ignorance, whether they be natives or strangers.
"But the individual who acts deliberately, be he citizen or alien, commits an outrage against Yahweh, and such a man wil be outlawed from his people.30 But the soul that committeth any thing through pride, whether he be born in the land or a stranger (because he hath been rebellious against the Lord) shall be cut off from among his people:
Since he has treated Yahweh's word with contempt and has disobeyed his order, such a man wil beoutlawed absolutely and wil bear the consequences of his guilt." '31 For he hath contemned the word the Lord, and made void his precept: therefore shall he be destroyed, and shall bear his iniquity.
While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was caught gathering wood on the Sabbath day.32 And it came to pass, when the children of Israel were in the wilderness, and had found a man gathering sticks on the sabbath day,
Those who caught him gathering wood brought him before Moses, Aaron and the whole community.33 That they brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole multitude.
He was kept in custody, because the penalty he should undergo had not yet been fixed.34 And they put him into prison, not knowing what they should do with him.
Yahweh said to Moses, 'This man must be put to death. The whole community will stone him outsidethe camp.'35 And the Lord said to Moses: Let that man die, let all the multitude stone him without the camp.
The whole community took him outside the camp and stoned him til he was dead, as Yahweh hadordered Moses.36 And when they had brought him out, they stoned him, and he died as the Lord had commanded.
Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,37 The Lord also said to Moses:
'Speak to the Israelites and tell them, for all generations to come, to put tassels on the hems of theirclothes and work a violet thread into the tassel at the hem.38 Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt tell them I to make to themselves fringes in the corners of their garments, putting in them ribands of blue:
You wil thus have a tassel, and the sight of it wil remind you of al Yahweh's orders and how youare to put them into practice, and not follow the dictates of your own heart and eyes, which have led you to beunfaithful.39 That when they shall see them, they may remember all the commandments of the Lord, and not follow their own thoughts and eyes going astray after divers things,
'This wil remind you of all my orders; put them into practice, and you wil be consecrated to yourGod.40 But rather being mindful of the precepts of the Lord, may do them and be holy to their Cod.
I, Yahweh your God, have brought you out of Egypt, to be your God, I, Yahweh your God.'41 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that I might be your God.
