Amos 2

1 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Moab, I have made my decree and will notrelent: because they have burnt the bones of the king of Edom to ash,	1 Così parla il Signore: « A causa delle tre scelleraggini di Moab, anzi delle quattro, non lo revocherò (il decreto), perchè ha bruciate le ossa del re d'Idumea fino a ridurle in cenere.
2 I shal send fire down into Moab to devour the palaces of Kerioth, and Moab will die in the tumult, amidwar cries and the blare of trumpets;	2 Ma io manderò in Moab il fuoco, che divorerà i palazzi di Cariot, e Moab morirà nel tumulto, fra il rimbombar delle trombe.
3 I shal destroy the ruler there and slaughter al the chief men there with him, says Yahweh.	3 Io sterminerò di mezzo a lui il giudice, e con lui ucciderò tutti isuoi principi — dice il Signore ».
4 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Judah, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because they have despised Yahweh's law and not kept his commandments, since their Falsehoods,which their ancestors followed, have led them astray,	4 Così parla il Signore: « A causa delle tre sceleraggini di Giuda, anzi delle quattro, non lo revocherò (il decreto), perchè han rigettata la legge del Signore, non hanno osservati i suoi comandamenti, essendo stati sedotti dai loro idoli, dietro ai quali erano andati i loro padri.
5 I shal send fire down on Judah to devour the palaces of Jerusalem.	5 Ed io manderò in Giuda il fuoco, che divorerà i palazzi di Gerusalemme ».
6 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Israel, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because they have sold the upright for silver and the poor for a pair of sandals,	6 Così parla il Signore: « A causa delle tre scelleraggini d'Israele, anzi delle quattro, non io revocherò (il decreto), perchè han venduto il giusto per dei pezzi d'argento, ed il povero per un paio di scarpe.
7 because they have crushed the heads of the weak into the dust and thrust the rights of the oppressedto one side, father and son sleeping with the same girl and thus profaning my holy name,	7 Schiaccian nella polvere della terra le teste dei poveri, e fan piegare la via degli umili; il figlio e il padre sono andati dalla medesima fanciulla, per profanare il mio santo nome.
8 lying down beside every altar on clothes acquired as pledges, and drinking the wine of the people theyhave fined in the house of their god.	8 Han riposato sopra le vesti ricevute in pegno, a lato di tutti gli altari, e il vino dei condannati l'hanno bevuto nella casa del loro Dio.
9 Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, he who was as tal as the cedars, as strong as theoaks; I who destroyed his fruit above ground and his roots below.	9 Eppure fui io che sterminai dinanzi a loro l'Amorreo, l'altezza del quale uguagliava quella dei cedri, e che era forte come una quercia. Io distrussi in alto i suoi frutti, e in basso le sue radici.
10 It was I who brought you up from Egypt and for forty years led you through the desert to takepossession of the Amorite's country;	10 Fuì io che vi feci salire dalla terra d'Egitto, e vi condussi quaranta anni pel deserto, per darvi il possesso della terra dell'Amorreo,
11 I who raised up prophets from your sons and Nazirites from your young men. Israelites, is this nottrue? -declares Yahweh!	11 e tra i vostri figli suscitai dei profeti e tra i vostri giovani dei Nazarei. Non è così, o figli d'Israele? — dice il Signore.
12 But you have made the Nazirite drink wine and given orders to the prophets, 'Do not prophesy.'	12 E voi farete bere il vino ai Nazarei, e darete ai profeti quest'ordine: « Non profetate ».
13 Very wel ! Like a cart overloaded with sheaves I shall crush you where you stand;	13 Ecco io striderò sotto di voi come stride un carro carico di fieno.
14 flight wil be cut off for the swift, the strong will have no chance to exert his strength nor the warrior beable to save his life;	14 E l'uomo veloce non potrà fuggire, e il vigoroso non potrà servirsi della sua forza, e il robusto non potrà salvare la sua vita.
15 the archer wil not stand his ground, the swift of foot wil not escape, nor will the horseman save hislife;	15 E Carcere non potrà resistere, e chi è dai piè veloci non potrà salvarsi, e il cavaliere non salverà la sua vita,
16 even the bravest of warriors will jettison his arms and run away, that day! -declares Yahweh!	16 e il più coraggioso tra i forti fuggirà nudo in quel giorno — dice il Signore ».
