Hosea 5

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Hear this, you priests, listen, House of Israel, pay attention, royal House, for it is you who have justice inyour care, but you have been a snare at Mizpah and a net outspread on Tabor.	1 Ouvi isto, ó sacerdotes, sede atentos, chefes de Israel, escuta, gente de casa do rei! Contra vós será feito o julgamento, porque vos tornastes um laço para a sentinela, uma rede estendida no Tabor.
2 They have dug the ditch deep at Shittim and so I am going to punish them al .	2 Os perseguidores levaram ao extremo a maldade, mas vou castigá-los todos.
3 Ephraim have I known, Israel is not hidden from me; and yet, Ephraim, you have played the whore,Israel is befouled.	3 Conheço Efraim, e Israel não me é oculto. Ora, Efraim transviou-se e Israel maculou-se;
4 Their deeds do not al ow them to return to their God, since an urge to play the whore possesses themand they no longer know Yahweh.	4 seu proceder não lhes permite voltar ao seu Deus, porque um espírito de prostituição os possui; eles desconhecem o Senhor.
5 Israel's arrogance is his accuser, the guilt of Israel and Ephraim is their undoing, Judah too wil beundone with them.	5 A arrogância de Israel dá testemunho contra ele, Israel e Efraim tropeçarão em sua iniqüidade, e também Judá cairá com eles.
6 Though they go in search of Yahweh with their sheep and cattle, they wil not find him; he haswithdrawn from them.	6 Irão buscar o Senhor com suas ovelhas e seus bois, mas não o encontrarão:
7 They have betrayed Yahweh because they have fathered bastards; now the new moon wil devourthem and their fields.	7 o Senhor retirou-se deles porque o traíram, porque geraram filhos bastardos. O destruidor vai devorá-los, eles e seus campos.
8 Sound the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah, raise the war cry in Beth-Aven, 'We are behind you,Benjamin!'	8 Tocai a corneta em Gabaa, a trombeta em Ramá, dai o alarme em Betavem, alertai Benjamim!
9 When the day of punishment comes, Ephraim wil be a wasteland; on the tribes of Israel I havepronounced certain doom.	9 Efraim será devastado no dia do castigo. Sobre as tribos de Israel profiro um decreto irrevogável:
10 The rulers of Judah act like men who move the boundary stone; I shall pour my wrath out on them likea flood.	10 os chefes de Judá procedem como aqueles que mudam os marcos. Derramarei sobre eles as torrentes do meu furor.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed by the sentence, for having deliberately fol owed a Lie.	11 Efraim é opressor, transgride o direito porque se compraz em abandonar a regra.
12 Because of this, I shall be like ringworm for Ephraim and like gangrene for the House of Judah.	12 Serei para Efraim como a tinha, e para a casa de Judá como a cárie.
13 Once Ephraim realised that he was sick and Judah that he had an ulcer, Ephraim then went toAssyria, he sent messengers to the Great King; but he has no power to cure you or to heal you of your sore;	13 Efraim verá o seu mal, e Judá a sua chaga; Efraim recorrerá a Assur e Judá dirigir-se-á ao grande rei. Mas este não vos poderá curar nem dar remédio à vossa chaga,
14 for I shal be like a lion to Ephraim, like a young lion to the House of Judah; I myself shal rend them,then go my way, shal carry them off, beyond hope of rescue.	14 porque serei como um leão para Efraim, como um leão para a casa de Judá; eu, eu mesmo despedaçarei a presa e partirei; levá-la-ei comigo e ninguém ma arrebatará.
15 I shal go back to my place until they confess their guilt and seek me, seek me eagerly in their distress.	15 Regressarei à minha morada, até que se arrependam de seus pecados e me procurem, e em sua miséria recorram a mim.
