Hosea 5

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Hear this, you priests, listen, House of Israel, pay attention, royal House, for it is you who have justice inyour care, but you have been a snare at Mizpah and a net outspread on Tabor.	1 Ascoltate questo, sacerdoti, fate attenzione, casa d'Israele; casa del re, date ascolto, perché il diritto è vostro compito: voi siete stati un laccio a Mizpà, una rete tesa sul Tabor,
2 They have dug the ditch deep at Shittim and so I am going to punish them al .	2 una fossa scavata in Sittìm. Io vi castigherò tutti quanti!
3 Ephraim have I known, Israel is not hidden from me; and yet, Ephraim, you have played the whore,Israel is befouled.	3 Io conosco Efraim, Israele non mi è per nulla nascosto: sì, ti sei prostituita, Efraim, si è macchiato Israele!
4 Their deeds do not al ow them to return to their God, since an urge to play the whore possesses themand they no longer know Yahweh.	4 Le loro azioni non permettono ad essi di ritornare al loro Dio, perché uno spirito di prostituzione è in essi e non conoscono il Signore.
5 Israel's arrogance is his accuser, the guilt of Israel and Ephraim is their undoing, Judah too wil beundone with them.	5 L'orgoglio d'Israele testimonia contro di lui, Efraim vacilla per il suo peccato e con lui vacilla anche Giuda.
6 Though they go in search of Yahweh with their sheep and cattle, they wil not find him; he haswithdrawn from them.	6 Vengono con i loro greggi e con i loro buoi a cercare il Signore, ma non lo trovano; s'è ritirato da loro.
7 They have betrayed Yahweh because they have fathered bastards; now the new moon wil devourthem and their fields.	7 Hanno tradito il Signore, hanno generato figli bastardi; così il distruttore divora i loro averi assieme ai loro campi.
8 Sound the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah, raise the war cry in Beth-Aven, 'We are behind you,Benjamin!'	8 Suonate il corno in Gàbaa, la tromba in Rama; date l'allarme in Bet-Avèn, mettete in guardia Beniamino.
9 When the day of punishment comes, Ephraim wil be a wasteland; on the tribes of Israel I havepronounced certain doom.	9 Efraim diventerà un deserto il giorno del castigo; sulle tribù d'Israele io annunzio la mia decisione!
10 The rulers of Judah act like men who move the boundary stone; I shall pour my wrath out on them likea flood.	10 Rassomigliano i capi di Giuda a coloro che spostano i confini; sopra di loro io riverserò, simile ad una piena, il mio furore.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed by the sentence, for having deliberately fol owed a Lie.	11 Efraim è oppresso, il diritto è violato, perché gode nel correre dietro al niente.
12 Because of this, I shall be like ringworm for Ephraim and like gangrene for the House of Judah.	12 E io sarò come la tigna per Efraim, come la carie per la casa di Giuda.
13 Once Ephraim realised that he was sick and Judah that he had an ulcer, Ephraim then went toAssyria, he sent messengers to the Great King; but he has no power to cure you or to heal you of your sore;	13 Efraim ha visto il suo male e Giuda la sua piaga; Efraim si è diretto all'Assiria, Giuda si è rivolto al gran re; ma egli non potrà guarirvi né togliervi la vostra piaga.
14 for I shal be like a lion to Ephraim, like a young lion to the House of Judah; I myself shal rend them,then go my way, shal carry them off, beyond hope of rescue.	14 Perché io sarò come un leone per Efraim e come un leoncello per la casa di Giuda. Io, io sbranerò e me ne andrò, porterò via la preda e nessuno me la strapperà.
15 I shal go back to my place until they confess their guilt and seek me, seek me eagerly in their distress.	15 Me ne tornerò alla mia dimora finché non si sentiranno colpevoli e cercheranno la mia faccia; nella loro angustia mi ricercheranno.
