Hosea 5

1 Hear this, you priests, listen, House of Israel, pay attention, royal House, for it is you who have justice inyour care, but you have been a snare at Mizpah and a net outspread on Tabor.	1 - Udite questo, o sacerdoti; state a sentire, voi della casa di Israele e voi della casa del re, perchè il giudizio è intentato a voi; giacchè siete diventati un laccio a Masfa e una rete tesa sul monte Tabor;
2 They have dug the ditch deep at Shittim and so I am going to punish them al .	2 e andate traviando il culto profondamente in basso, mentre io faccio di tutto per correggerli.
3 Ephraim have I known, Israel is not hidden from me; and yet, Ephraim, you have played the whore,Israel is befouled.	3 Io conosco Efraim e Israele non mi è nascosto; sì, ormai Efraim si è prostituito, Israele s'è contaminato;
4 Their deeds do not al ow them to return to their God, since an urge to play the whore possesses themand they no longer know Yahweh.	4 non si daranno più pensiero di tornare al loro Dio, perchè lo spirito della fornicazione è in mezzo a loro e non hanno più riconosciuto il Signore.
5 Israel's arrogance is his accuser, the guilt of Israel and Ephraim is their undoing, Judah too wil beundone with them.	5 Ne risponde ad attestarlo l'arroganza stessa di Israele che è sulla sua faccia; Israele ed Efraim cadranno per la loro colpa e con essi cadrà anche Giuda.
6 Though they go in search of Yahweh with their sheep and cattle, they wil not find him; he haswithdrawn from them.	6 Con i loro greggi e coi loro armenti se ne andranno a cercare il Signore e non lo troveranno. Egli si è ritirato da loro.
7 They have betrayed Yahweh because they have fathered bastards; now the new moon wil devourthem and their fields.	7 Sono diventati infedeli al Signore, perchè hanno procreato figli degenerati; ora, un mese li consumerà colle sostanze loro.
8 Sound the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah, raise the war cry in Beth-Aven, 'We are behind you,Benjamin!'	8 Sonate la squilla in Gabaa e la tromba in Rama; urlate in Betaven, dietro alle tue spalle, o Beniamino!
9 When the day of punishment comes, Ephraim wil be a wasteland; on the tribes of Israel I havepronounced certain doom.	9 Efraim sarà ridotto in desolazione nel giorno del castigo: l'ho dichiarato alle tribù d'Israele per cosa certa.
10 The rulers of Judah act like men who move the boundary stone; I shall pour my wrath out on them likea flood.	10 I principi di Giuda sono come coloro che spostano i confini: su di loro riverserò come acqua la mia collera.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed by the sentence, for having deliberately fol owed a Lie.	11 Efraim è oppresso e affranto meritamente, perchè si studia di andar dietro alle lordure.
12 Because of this, I shall be like ringworm for Ephraim and like gangrene for the House of Judah.	12 Ma io sarò come tignuola ad Efraim e come una cancrena alla casa di Giuda.
13 Once Ephraim realised that he was sick and Judah that he had an ulcer, Ephraim then went toAssyria, he sent messengers to the Great King; but he has no power to cure you or to heal you of your sore;	13 Ed Efraim ha visto la sua infermità e Giuda la propria fasciatura; ed Efraim andò ad Assur, fece ricorso al re vindice; ma egli non potrà metter rimedio, nè levar via la fasciatura a voi;
14 for I shal be like a lion to Ephraim, like a young lion to the House of Judah; I myself shal rend them,then go my way, shal carry them off, beyond hope of rescue.	14 perchè io sarò come una leonessa per Efraim e come un leoncello per la casa di Giuda; io lo abbrancherò e me ne andrò, leverò la preda e non sarà chi me la ritolga.
15 I shal go back to my place until they confess their guilt and seek me, seek me eagerly in their distress.	15 Andrò, ritornerò al mio luogo, fin tanto che vi sentiate mancare e ricerchiate la mia faccia!
