Hosea 5

1 Hear this, you priests, listen, House of Israel, pay attention, royal House, for it is you who have justice inyour care, but you have been a snare at Mizpah and a net outspread on Tabor.	1 Écoutez ceci, prêtres; sois attentive, maison d’Israël, et toi maison du roi, prête l’oreille, car cette sentence vous concerne: Vous avez été un piège à Mispa et un filet tendu sur le Thabor.
2 They have dug the ditch deep at Shittim and so I am going to punish them al .	2 Ce sont eux qui ont creusé la fosse de Chittim, et je vais tous les corriger.
3 Ephraim have I known, Israel is not hidden from me; and yet, Ephraim, you have played the whore,Israel is befouled.	3 Je connais Éphraïm, et Israël ne m’est pas inconnu. Oui, tu t’es prostitué Éphraïm, et toi Israël, tu t’es souillé.
4 Their deeds do not al ow them to return to their God, since an urge to play the whore possesses themand they no longer know Yahweh.	4 Leurs fautes sont telles qu’ils ne peuvent revenir vers leur Dieu. Un esprit de prostitution les possède et ils ne connaissent pas Yahvé.
5 Israel's arrogance is his accuser, the guilt of Israel and Ephraim is their undoing, Judah too wil beundone with them.	5 L’orgueil d’Israël témoigne contre lui, Israël et Éphraïm sont en crise à cause de leur péché, et Juda est en crise avec eux.
6 Though they go in search of Yahweh with their sheep and cattle, they wil not find him; he haswithdrawn from them.	6 Ils iront chercher Yahvé avec leurs brebis et leurs bœufs, mais ils ne le trouveront pas, car il s’est retiré d’eux.
7 They have betrayed Yahweh because they have fathered bastards; now the new moon wil devourthem and their fields.	7 Ils ont trahi Yahvé, ils ont enfanté des bâtards: le destructeur peut les dévorer, eux et leurs champs.
8 Sound the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah, raise the war cry in Beth-Aven, 'We are behind you,Benjamin!'	8 Sonnez du cor à Guibéa et de la trompette à Rama, donnez l’alerte à Beth-Aven. On est sur tes pas, Benjamin!
9 When the day of punishment comes, Ephraim wil be a wasteland; on the tribes of Israel I havepronounced certain doom.	9 Éphraïm connaîtra une ruine au jour de son châtiment, et je fais savoir aux tribus d’Israël que la décision est prise.
10 The rulers of Judah act like men who move the boundary stone; I shall pour my wrath out on them likea flood.	10 Les chefs de Juda sont comme ceux qui déplacent les bornes, je déverserai sur eux ma colère comme de l’eau.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed by the sentence, for having deliberately fol owed a Lie.	11 Éphraïm est un oppresseur, il dicte des sentences injustes, il trouve plaisir à courir après le mensonge.
12 Because of this, I shall be like ringworm for Ephraim and like gangrene for the House of Judah.	12 C’est pourquoi je veux être comme la mite pour Éphraïm, comme une carie dans la maison de Juda.
13 Once Ephraim realised that he was sick and Judah that he had an ulcer, Ephraim then went toAssyria, he sent messengers to the Great King; but he has no power to cure you or to heal you of your sore;	13 Quand Éphraïm a vu sa maladie, et Juda son ulcère, Éphraïm est allé en Assyrie, il a envoyé des messagers vers le grand roi. Mais il ne sera pas capable de vous guérir, ni d’apporter un remède à votre ulcère.
14 for I shal be like a lion to Ephraim, like a young lion to the House of Judah; I myself shal rend them,then go my way, shal carry them off, beyond hope of rescue.	14 Oui, je serai comme un lion pour Éphraïm, comme un jeune lion pour la maison de Juda. Je déchirerai et je m’en irai, j’emporterai ma proie et personne ne délivrera.
15 I shal go back to my place until they confess their guilt and seek me, seek me eagerly in their distress.	15 Je partirai et je rentrerai chez moi jusqu’à ce qu’ils reconnaissent leurs fautes et qu’ils cherchent ma face. Dans leur détresse ils me rechercheront:
