1 Then he shouted loudly for me to hear, 'The scourges of the city are approaching, each carrying hisweapon of destruction!'	1 Et clamavit in auribus meis voce magna dicens: “ Appro pinquaveruntvisitationes urbis, et unusquisque vas interfectionis habet in manu sua ”.
2 Immediately six men advanced from the upper north gate, each holding a deadly weapon. Among themwas a man dressed in linen, with a scribe's ink-horn in his belt. They came in and halted in front of the bronzealtar.	2 Et ecce sex viri veniebant de via portae superioris, quae respicit ad aquilonem,et uniuscuiusque vas interitus in manu eius; vir quoque unus in medio eorumvestitus lineis, et atramentarium scriptoris ad renes eius; et ingressi sunt etsteterunt iuxta altare aereum.
3 The glory of the God of Israel rose from above the winged creature where it had been, towards thethreshold of the Temple. He cal ed to the man dressed in linen with a scribe's ink-horn in his belt	3 Et gloria Dei Israel elevata est de cherub,super quem erat, ad limen domus; et vocavit virum, qui indutus erat lineis etatramentarium scriptoris habebat in lumbis suis.
4 and Yahweh said to him, 'Go al through the city, al through Jerusalem, and mark a cross on theforeheads of all who grieve and lament over al the loathsome practices in it.'	4 Et dixit Dominus ad eum: “Transi per mediam civitatem in medio Ierusalem et signa thau super frontesvirorum gementium et dolentium super cunctis abominationibus, quae fiunt inmedio eius ”.
5 I heard him say to the others, 'Fol ow him through the city and strike. Not one glance of pity; show nomercy;	5 Et illis dixit, audiente me: “ Transite per civitatemsequentes eum et percutite; non parcat oculus vester, neque misereamini:
6 old men, young men, girls, children, women, kil and exterminate them al . But do not touch anyone witha cross on his forehead. Begin at my sanctuary.' So they began with the old men who were in the Temple.	6 senem, adulescentulum et virginem et parvulum et mulieres interficite usque adinternecionem; omnem autem, super quem videritis thau, ne occidatis, et asanctuario meo incipite ”. Coeperunt ergo a viris senioribus, qui erant antefaciem domus.
7 He said to them, 'Defile the Temple; fill the courts with corpses; then go out!' They went out and hackedtheir way through the city.	7 Et dixit ad eos: “Contaminate domum et implete atriainterfectis. Egredimini ”. Et egressi sunt et percutiebant eos, qui erant incivitate.
8 While they were hacking them down, I was left alone; I fel on my face, crying out, 'Ah, Lord Yahweh,are you going to annihilate al that is left of Israel by venting your fury on Jerusalem?'	8 Et caede completa, remansi ego ruique super faciem meam et clamans aio: “Heu,Domine Deus! Ergone disperdes omnes reliquias Israel, effundens furorem tuumsuper Ierusalem? ”.
9 He said, 'The guilt of the House of Israel and Judah is immense; the country is ful of bloodshed, the cityful of perversity, for they say, "Yahweh has abandoned the country, Yahweh cannot see."	9 Et dixit ad me: “ Iniquitas domus Israel et Iudaemagna est nimis valde; et repleta est terra sanguinibus, et civitas repleta estiniustitia. Dixerunt enim: “Dereliquit Dominus terram, et Dominus non videt”;
10 Then, I too shal neither give one glance of pity nor show any mercy. I shal repay them for what theyhave done.'	10 igitur et meus non parcet oculus, neque miserebor: viam eorum super caputeorum reddam ”.
11 The man dressed in linen with the scribe's ink-horn in his belt then came back and made his report, 'Ihave carried out your orders.'	11 Et ecce vir, qui indutus erat lineis, qui habebatatramentarium in lumbis suis, respondit verbum dicens: “ Feci, sicutpraecepisti mihi ”.
