1 Then he shouted loudly for me to hear, 'The scourges of the city are approaching, each carrying hisweapon of destruction!'	1 Con gran voce gridò alle mie orecchie, dicendo: Vicina è la visita della città, e ognuno ha in mano uno strumento da uccidere.
2 Immediately six men advanced from the upper north gate, each holding a deadly weapon. Among themwas a man dressed in linen, with a scribe's ink-horn in his belt. They came in and halted in front of the bronzealtar.	2 Ed ecco che sei uomini venivano per la strada della porta superiore, che guarda settentrione; e in mano d'ognun di essi uno strumento di morte: eravi anche un uomo in mezzo a loro vestito di roba di lino, e aveva appeso a' fianchi un calamaio da scrivere, ed entrarono, e si fermarono presso l'altare di bronzo;
3 The glory of the God of Israel rose from above the winged creature where it had been, towards thethreshold of the Temple. He cal ed to the man dressed in linen with a scribe's ink-horn in his belt	3 E la gloria del Signor d'Israele dai Cherubini, su' quali stava, si portò al liminare della casa, e chiamò l'uomo che era vestito di lino, e avea a' suo fianchi il calamaio.
4 and Yahweh said to him, 'Go al through the city, al through Jerusalem, and mark a cross on theforeheads of all who grieve and lament over al the loathsome practices in it.'	4 E il Signore gli disse: Va per mezzo alla città, per mezzo a Gerusalemme, e segna un Thau sulle fronti degli uomini, che gemono, e sono attimi per tutte le abbominazioni, che si fanno in mezzo ad essa.
5 I heard him say to the others, 'Fol ow him through the city and strike. Not one glance of pity; show nomercy;	5 E a quelli disse, udendolo io: Passate per la città seguitando lui, e percuotete: non s'impietosisca l'occhio vostro, e non abbiate pietà.
6 old men, young men, girls, children, women, kil and exterminate them al . But do not touch anyone witha cross on his forehead. Begin at my sanctuary.' So they began with the old men who were in the Temple.	6 Uccidete fino allo sterminio, il vecchio, il giovane, la vergine, il pargoletto, e le donne: non uccidete però alcuno, che veggiate aver sopra di sé il Thau, e date principio dal mio santuario. Dieder dunque principio da que' seniori, che erano davanti al tempio.
7 He said to them, 'Defile the Temple; fill the courts with corpses; then go out!' They went out and hackedtheir way through the city.	7 Ed ei disse loro: Profanate la casa, e degli uccisi empietene i portici: andate. E quelli andarono, e percuotevano quanti erano nella città.
8 While they were hacking them down, I was left alone; I fel on my face, crying out, 'Ah, Lord Yahweh,are you going to annihilate al that is left of Israel by venting your fury on Jerusalem?'	8 E finita che fu la strage, rimasi io: e mi gettai boccone; e alzando le strida, dico: Ahi, ahi, ahi, Signore Dio: disperderai tu adunque tutti gli avanzi d'Israele, spandendo il furor tuo sopra Gerusalemme?
9 He said, 'The guilt of the House of Israel and Judah is immense; the country is ful of bloodshed, the cityful of perversity, for they say, "Yahweh has abandoned the country, Yahweh cannot see."	9 E disse a me: L'iniquità della casa d'Israele, e di Giuda è grande, oltre modo grande, e la terra è coperta di sangue, e la città è piena di ribellione, perocchè han detto: Il Signore ha abandonata la terra, il Signore non vede.
10 Then, I too shal neither give one glance of pity nor show any mercy. I shal repay them for what theyhave done.'	10 Non s'impietosirà adunque l'occhio mio, e io non avrò misericordia: sul capo loro farò cadere le opere loro.
11 The man dressed in linen with the scribe's ink-horn in his belt then came back and made his report, 'Ihave carried out your orders.'	11 Ed ecco colui, che era vestito di lino, ed aveva il calamaio a' suoi fianchi, portò risposta, dicendo: Ho fatto come tu mi comandasti.
