1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	1 - E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:
2 'Son of man, say, "Lord Yahweh says this to the land of Israel: Finished! The end is coming for the fourcorners of the country.	2 «O figlio dell'uomo, così dice il Signore Dio alla terra d'Israele:- La fine è venuta! è giunta la fine sopra i quattro canti della terra!
3 This is the end for you; I shall unleash my anger on you, and judge you as your conduct deserves andcal you to account for al your loathsome practices.	3 Ormai la fine è giunta sopra di te, ed effonderò il mio sdegno su di te e ti giudicherò secondo le vie del tuo procedere e produrrò contro di te tutte le tue abominazioni.
4 I shall show you no pity, I shall not spare you; I shall repay you for your conduct and for the loathsomepractices in which you persist. Then you wil know that I am Yahweh.	4 E il mio occhio non avrà riguardo per te, non ti userò misericordia; ma farò pesare su di te la gravità dei tuoi trascorsi, le tue abominazioni in seno a te saranno trattate come meritano, e riconoscerete che io sono il Signore -».
5 "The Lord Yahweh says this: Disaster, a unique disaster, is coming.	5 Così dice il Signore Iddio: «Una sciagura, una sciagura, ecco viene!
6 The end is coming, the end is coming, it is on the move towards you, it is coming now.	6 La fine viene, viene la fine, come di soprassalto si è svegliata contro di te: ecco che viene!
7 Now it is your turn, you who dwel in this country. Doom is coming, the day is near; no joy now, onlytumult, on the mountains.	7 Una catastrofe viene sopra di te, o abitatore della terra; il tempo viene, vicino è il giorno del fragor della mischia e non delle ovazioni su pei monti!
8 Now I shal soon vent my fury on you and sate my anger on you: I shal judge you as your conductdeserves and repay you for al your loathsome practices.	8 Ora son vicino a effondere l'ira mia sopra di te, e il mio sdegno troverà completa soddisfazione di te, e ti giudicherò secondo la tua condotta; e farò pesare sopra di te tutte le tue scelleratezze.
9 I shall show neither pity nor mercy, but shall repay you for your conduct and the loathsome practices inwhich you persist. Then you wil know that I am Yahweh and that I strike.	9 E il mio occhio non avrà alcun riguardo per te e non userò misericordia, ma farò pesare su di te i tuoi trascorsi e le tue abominazioni cadranno in seno a te; e conoscerete che sono io il Signore che faccio punizione.
10 "Now is the day, your turn has come, it has come, it appears, the sceptre has blossomed, pride is at itspeak.	10 Ecco il giorno, ecco che viene, la catastrofe ha preso le mosse: la verga ha fiorito, la superbia ha germogliato.
11 Violence has risen to become the scourge of wickedness . . .	11 L'iniquità s'è rizzata in verga d'empietà: non resterà più nessuno, nè di essi, nè del popolo, nè della risonante folla; più nessuna requie sarà data ad essi.
12 Doom is coming, the day is near. Neither should buyer rejoice, nor sel er regret, for the fury rests oneveryone alike.	12 Il tempo viene, il giorno è vicino; chi compra non ne goda, chi vende non se ne dolga, perchè l'ira sovrasta tutto il popolo.
13 The sel er wil not be able to go back on his bargain; each persists in his sins; they take no defensivemeasures.	13 Perchè il venditore più non tornerà a quel che ha venduto, sua vita durante; e la parola fatidica annunziata a tutta la sua moltitudine non sarà rivocata; e nessuno coll'iniquità della sua vita si metterà al sicuro.
14 The trumpet sounds, all is ready, but no one goes into battle, since my fury rests on all alike.	14 Suonate la tromba, si preparino tutti; ma nessuno si avanza alla battaglia, perchè l'ira mia incombe su tutta la sua moltitudine.
15 "Outside, the sword; inside, plague and famine. Whoever is living in the countryside wil die by thesword; whoever is living in the city will be devoured by famine and plague.	15 Di fuori la spada, di dentro la peste e la fame; chi è all'aperto morirà di spada; chi è nella città sarà consunto dalla peste e dalla fame.
16 And those who escape wil escape to the mountains and there, like doves of the valleys, I shalslaughter them al , each one for his sin.	16 Si salveranno quei che cercheranno scampo colla fuga, e saranno pei monti, come le colombe delle convalli, tutti trepidanti, dallo sgomento che a ciascuno incute la propria iniquità.
17 Every hand wil grow limp, every knee turn to water.	17 Tutte le braccia si discioglieranno e tutte le ginocchia si struggeranno in acqua.
18 They wil put on sackcloth, each one trembling. Every face wil be ashamed and every head beshaved.	18 E si cingeranno di sacco, e il terrore li involgerà, su ogni faccia vi sarà confusione, e su tutte le teste scalvatura.
19 They wil throw their silver away in the streets and their gold they wil regard as a pollution; neithertheir silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of Yahweh's fury. Never again wil they haveenough to eat, never again wil they fil their bellies, since that was the occasion for their guilt.	19 E il loro argento sarà gettato via, e il loro oro lasciato tra le immondezze. Il loro argento e il loro oro non potrà salvarli, nel giorno dell'ira del Signore; non se ne potranno saziare le voglie, non se ne riempiranno il ventre con quello che era stato a loro causa di peccato.
20 They used to pride themselves on the beauty of their jewel ery, out of which they made theirloathsome images, their horrors; so now I have made it pol ute them.	20 E l'ornamento dei loro monili avevano posto a sfoggio di superbia e ne avevano fatto le immagini dei loro abominevoli idoli e simulacri; perciò lo ridurrò per essi al valore delle immondezze.
21 I shal hand it over as plunder to foreigners, as loot to the most evil people on earth. They wil profaneit.	21 E lo darò in mano agli stranieri per esser depredato, e in mano agli empi della terra per essere messo a ruba e lo profaneranno tutto.
22 I shal turn my face away from them, while my treasure-house is profaned and robbers wil force theirway in and profane it.	22 E io rivolgerò da loro la faccia e lascerò violare il mio recondito luogo; vi entreranno gli sgherri e lo profaneranno.
23 "Forge yourself a chain; for the country is full of bloody executions and the city ful of deeds ofviolence,	23 Appresta la catena, perchè la terra è piena di attentati, di sangue, e la città è piena di delitto.
24 so I shall bring the cruel est of the nations to seize their houses. I shal put an end to the pride of theire'lite, and their sanctuary wil be profaned.	24 Ma io condurrò la peggiore delle genti e occuperanno le loro abitazioni e farò quietare la superbia dei prepotenti, e i loro santuari darò in possesso ad altri.
25 Terror is on the way: they will look for peace and there wil be none.	25 Al sopraggiungere della sventura cercheranno la pace, ma non vi sarà.
26 Disaster will fol ow on disaster, rumour on rumour; they will pester the prophet for a vision; the priestwil be at a loss over the law and the elders on how to advise.	26 Costernazione sopra costernazione verrà e voci dietro voci; e invano cercheranno le previsioni dai profeti, e la legge verrà a mancare al sacerdote, e il consiglio agli anziani.
27 The king wil go into mourning, the prince be plunged in grief, the hands of the country people tremble.I shal treat them as their conduct deserves, and judge them as their own verdicts merit. Then they wil know thatI am Yahweh!" '	27 Il re sarà in lutto ed il principe sarà vestito di squallore; e le mani del popolo della terra paralizzate. Secondo il loro modo di operare, opererò con loro, e secondo il loro modo di giudicare li giudicherò; e conosceranno che sono io, il Signore».
