Ezekiel 26

NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 In the eleventh year, on the first of the month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	1 Et factum est in undecimo anno, prima mensis : factus est sermo Domini ad me, dicens :
2 'Son of man, since Tyre has said of Jerusalem: "Aha! She is shattered, the Gateway to the Nations;she now gives way to me. Her riches are ruined!"	2 Fili hominis, pro eo quod dixit Tyrus de Jerusalem : Euge, confractæ sunt portæ populorum, conversa est ad me : implebor ; deserta est :
3 Very well, the Lord Yahweh says this, "Now, Tyre, I am against you,	3 propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego super te, Tyre, et ascendere faciam ad te gentes multas, sicut ascendit mare fluctuans.
4 I shal raise many nations against you as the sea raises its waves. They wil destroy the wal s of Tyre,they will demolish her towers; I shal sweep the dust of her away and reduce her to a naked rock.	4 Et dissipabunt muros Tyri, et destruent turres ejus : et radam pulverem ejus de ea, et dabo eam in limpidissimam petram.
5 She will be a drying-ground out to sea for fishing-nets. For I have spoken- declares Lord Yahweh. Shewil be the prey of the nations.	5 Siccatio sagenarum erit in medio maris, quia ego locutus sum, ait Dominus Deus : et erit in direptionem gentibus.
6 As for her daughters on the mainland, these will be put to the sword, and they wil know that I amYahweh."	6 Filiæ quoque ejus quæ sunt in agro, gladio interficientur : et scient quia ego Dominus.
7 'For the Lord Yahweh says this, "From the north, I shall bring Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, kingof kings, down on Tyre with horses, chariots, cavalry and an enormous army.	7 Quia hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego adducam ad Tyrum Nabuchodonosor regem Babylonis ab aquilone, regem regum, cum equis, et curribus, et equitibus, et cœtu, populoque magno.
8 He will put your daughters on the mainland to the sword. He wil build siege-works against you, cast upa siege-ramp against you, raise a screen against you;	8 Filias tuas quæ sunt in agro, gladio interficiet, et circumdabit te munitionibus, et comportabit aggerem in gyro, et elevabit contra te clypeum :
9 he wil pound your wal s with his battering-rams, and demolish your towers with his siege-engines.	9 et vineas et arietes temperabit in muros tuos, et turres tuas destruet in armatura sua.
10 His horses are so many that their dust wil hide you. The noise of his horsemen and his chariot-wheels wil make your walls tremble as he enters your gates as though storming into a city through the breach.	10 Inundatione equorum ejus operiet te pulvis eorum : a sonitu equitum, et rotarum, et curruum, movebuntur muri tui, cum ingressus fuerit portas tuas quasi per introitum urbis dissipatæ.
11 With his horses' hoofs he wil trample through al your streets; he wil put your people to the sword,and throw your massive pil ars to the ground.	11 Ungulis equorum suorum conculcabit omnes plateas tuas : populum tuum gladio cædet, et statuæ tuæ nobiles in terram corruent.
12 Your wealth wil be seized, your merchandise looted, your wal s rased, your luxurious housesshattered, your stones, your timbers, your very dust, thrown into the sea.	12 Vastabunt opes tuas, diripient negotiationes tuas, et destruent muros tuos, et domos tuas præclaras subvertent : et lapides tuos, et ligna tua, et pulverem tuum in medio aquarum ponent.
13 I shal put an end to the sound of your songs; the sound of your harps wil not be heard again.	13 Et quiescere faciam multitudinem canticorum tuorum : et sonitus cithararum tuarum non audietur amplius.
14 I shal reduce you to a naked rock, and make you into a drying-ground for fishing-nets, never to berebuilt; for I, Yahweh, have spoken -declares the Lord Yahweh."	14 Et dabo te in limpidissimam petram, siccatio sagenarum eris, nec ædificaberis ultra, quia ego locutus sum, ait Dominus Deus.
15 'The Lord Yahweh says this to Tyre, "Wil not the islands quake at the sound of your fall, while thewounded groan and the slaughter takes place inside you?	15 Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Tyro : Numquid non a sonitu ruinæ tuæ, et gemitu interfectorum tuorum, cum occisi fuerint in medio tui, commovebuntur insulæ ?
16 Al the princes of the sea wil leave their thrones, lay aside their cloaks, take off their embroideredrobes. Dressed in terror they will sit on the ground trembling incessantly, stunned at your fate.	16 Et descendent de sedibus suis omnes principes maris, et auferent exuvias suas, et vestimenta sua varia abjicient, et induentur stupore : in terra sedebunt, et attoniti super repentino casu tuo admirabuntur :
17 "They wil raise the lament for you as fol ows: You are destroyed then, vanished from the seas,famous city, former sea-power, who with her citizens, used to spread terror al over the mainland!	17 et assumentes super te lamentum, dicent tibi : Quomodo peristi, quæ habitas in mari, urbs inclyta, quæ fuisti fortis in mari cum habitatoribus tuis, quos formidabant universi ?
18 Now the islands are trembling on the day of your fal ; the islands of the sea are terrified by your end.	18 Nunc stupebunt naves in die pavoris tui, et turbabuntur insulæ in mari, eo quod nullus egrediatur ex te.
19 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: "When I make you a ruined city like other deserted cities, when Iraise the deep against you and the ocean covers you,	19 Quia hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Cum dedero te urbem desolatam, sicut civitates quæ non habitantur ; et adduxero super te abyssum, et operuerint te aquæ multæ ;
20 when I fling you down with those who go down into the abyss, with the people of long ago, and putyou deep in the underworld, in the ruins of long ago with those who sink into oblivion, so that you can nevercome back or be restored to the land of the living,	20 et detraxero te cum his qui descendunt in lacum ad populum sempiternum ; et collocavero te in terra novissima sicut solitudines veteres, cum his qui deducuntur in lacum, ut non habiteris ; porro cum dedero gloriam in terra viventium :
21 I wil make you an object of terror; you wil not exist. People wil look for you but never find you again-- declares the Lord Yahweh!" '	21 in nihilum redigam te, et non eris : et requisita non invenieris ultra in sempiternum, dicit Dominus Deus.
