On the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel;1 Then, the eighth day having arrived, Moses called Aaron and his sons, and those greater by birth from Israel, and he said to Aaron:
he said to Aaron, 'Take a calf to offer a sacrifice for sin, and a ram for a burnt offering, both withoutblemish, and bring them before Yahweh.2 “Take a calf for sin from the herd, and a ram as a holocaust, both immaculate, and offer them in the sight of the Lord.
Then say to the Israelites, "Take a goat to be offered as a sacrifice for sin, a calf and a lamb one yearold (both without blemish) for a burnt offering,3 And to the sons of Israel, you shall say: ‘Take a he-goat for sin, and a calf as well as a lamb, both one-year-old and without blemish, as a holocaust.
a bul and a ram for communion sacrifices to be slaughtered before Yahweh, and a cereal offeringmixed with oil. For Yahweh wil appear to you today." '4 Take also an ox and a ram for peace offerings. And immolate them before the Lord, offering with the sacrifice of each one fine wheat flour sprinkled with oil. For today the Lord will appear to you.’ ”
They brought what Moses had ordered in front of the Tent of Meeting; then the whole communityapproached and stood before Yahweh.5 And so they brought everything that Moses had ordered before the door of the tabernacle, where, when all the multitude stood together,
Moses then said, 'This is what Yahweh has ordered you to do, so that his glory may be visible to you.'6 Moses said: “This is the word, which the Lord has instructed. Accomplish it, and his glory will appear to you.”
Moses then addressed Aaron, 'Go to the altar and offer your sacrifice for sin and your burnt offering, and so perform the rite of expiation for yourself and your family. Then present the people's offering and performthe rite of expiation for them, as Yahweh has ordered.'7 And he said to Aaron: “Approach toward the altar, and immolate on behalf of your sin. Offer the holocaust, and pray for yourself and for the people. And when you have slain the victim for the people, pray for them, just as the Lord has instructed.”
Aaron went to the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sacrifice for his own sin.8 And immediately Aaron, approaching toward the altar, immolated the calf for his sin.
Aaron's sons then presented the blood to him; he dipped his finger in it and put some on the horns ofthe altar, and then poured the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar.9 And his sons brought its blood to him, and dipping his finger in it, he touched the horns of the altar, and he poured out the remainder at its base.
The fat of the sacrifice for sin and the kidneys and the mass of fat over the liver he burned on the altar,as Yahweh had ordered Moses,10 And the fat, and the little kidneys, and the mesh of the liver, which are for sin, he burned upon the altar, just as the Lord had instructed Moses.
and the meat and the skin he burned outside the camp.11 Yet truly, the flesh and its skins he burned with fire beyond the camp.
He then slaughtered the burnt offering; Aaron's sons then handed him the blood, which he poured alaround the altar.12 He also immolated the victim of holocaust. And his sons brought its blood to him, which he poured out all around the altar.
They then handed him the quartered victim and the head, and he burned these on the altar.13 And when the victim itself was cut into pieces, they brought him the head and each of the limbs, all of which he burned with fire upon the altar,
He then washed the entrails and shins and burned them with the burnt offering on the altar.14 having first washed the intestines and the feet with water.
He then presented the people's offering. He took the goat for the people's sacrifice for sin, slaughteredit, and made a sacrifice for sin with it in the same way as with the first.15 And making an offering for the sin of the people, he slew the he-goat. And expiating the altar,
He then had the burnt offering brought forward and proceeded according to the ritual.16 he accomplished the holocaust,
He then had the cereal offering brought forward, took a handful of it and burned it on the altar inaddition to the morning burnt offering.17 adding to it the sacrifice of the libations, which are to be offered together, and burning them upon the altar, separately from the ceremonies of the morning holocaust.
Then he slaughtered the bul and the ram as a communion sacrifice for the people. Aaron's sonshanded him the blood and he poured it al around the altar.18 He also immolated the ox, as well as the ram, as peace offerings for the people. And his sons brought him the blood, which he poured out upon the altar all around.
The fat of the bul and the ram, the tail, the covering fat, the kidneys, the mass of fat over the liver,19 Then the fat of the ox, and the rump of the ram, and the two little kidneys with their fat, and the mesh of the liver,
he placed on the ribs and then burned on the altar.20 they placed upon the breasts. And when the fat had been burned upon the altar,
With the ribs and the right thigh Aaron made the gesture of offering as Yahweh had ordered Moses.21 Aaron separated their breasts and the right shoulders, lifting them up in the sight of the Lord, as Moses had instructed.
Aaron then raised his hands towards the people and blessed them. Having thus performed thesacrifice for sin, the burnt offering and the communion sacrifice, he came down22 And extending his hands to the people, he blessed them. And so, the victims for sin, and the holocausts, and the peace offerings being completed, he descended.
and entered the Tent of Meeting with Moses. Then they came out together to bless the people and theglory of Yahweh appeared to the entire people:23 Then Moses and Aaron entered the tabernacle of the testimony, and afterwards came out and blessed the people. And the glory of the Lord appeared to the entire multitude.
a flame leapt out from Yahweh's presence and consumed the burnt offering and fat on the altar. At thissight the entire people shouted for joy and fel on their faces.24 And, behold, a fire from the Lord devoured the holocaust, and the fat which was on the altar. When the crowd had seen this, they praised the Lord, falling on their faces.
