Leviticus 9

1 On the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel;	1 ויהי ביום השמיני קרא משה לאהרן ולבניו ולזקני ישראל
2 he said to Aaron, 'Take a calf to offer a sacrifice for sin, and a ram for a burnt offering, both withoutblemish, and bring them before Yahweh.	2 ויאמר אל אהרן קח לך עגל בן בקר לחטאת ואיל לעלה תמימם והקרב לפני יהוה
3 Then say to the Israelites, "Take a goat to be offered as a sacrifice for sin, a calf and a lamb one yearold (both without blemish) for a burnt offering,	3 ואל בני ישראל תדבר לאמר קחו שעיר עזים לחטאת ועגל וכבש בני שנה תמימם לעלה
4 a bul and a ram for communion sacrifices to be slaughtered before Yahweh, and a cereal offeringmixed with oil. For Yahweh wil appear to you today." '	4 ושור ואיל לשלמים לזבח לפני יהוה ומנחה בלולה בשמן כי היום יהוה נראה אליכם
5 They brought what Moses had ordered in front of the Tent of Meeting; then the whole communityapproached and stood before Yahweh.	5 ויקחו את אשר צוה משה אל פני אהל מועד ויקרבו כל העדה ויעמדו לפני יהוה
6 Moses then said, 'This is what Yahweh has ordered you to do, so that his glory may be visible to you.'	6 ויאמר משה זה הדבר אשר צוה יהוה תעשו וירא אליכם כבוד יהוה
7 Moses then addressed Aaron, 'Go to the altar and offer your sacrifice for sin and your burnt offering,and so perform the rite of expiation for yourself and your family. Then present the people's offering and performthe rite of expiation for them, as Yahweh has ordered.'	7 ויאמר משה אל אהרן קרב אל המזבח ועשה את חטאתך ואת עלתך וכפר בעדך ובעד העם ועשה את קרבן העם וכפר בעדם כאשר צוה יהוה
8 Aaron went to the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sacrifice for his own sin.	8 ויקרב אהרן אל המזבח וישחט את עגל החטאת אשר לו
9 Aaron's sons then presented the blood to him; he dipped his finger in it and put some on the horns ofthe altar, and then poured the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar.	9 ויקרבו בני אהרן את הדם אליו ויטבל אצבעו בדם ויתן על קרנות המזבח ואת הדם יצק אל יסוד המזבח
10 The fat of the sacrifice for sin and the kidneys and the mass of fat over the liver he burned on the altar,as Yahweh had ordered Moses,	10 ואת החלב ואת הכלית ואת היתרת מן הכבד מן החטאת הקטיר המזבחה כאשר צוה יהוה את משה
11 and the meat and the skin he burned outside the camp.	11 ואת הבשר ואת העור שרף באש מחוץ למחנה
12 He then slaughtered the burnt offering; Aaron's sons then handed him the blood, which he poured alaround the altar.	12 וישחט את העלה וימצאו בני אהרן אליו את הדם ויזרקהו על המזבח סביב
13 They then handed him the quartered victim and the head, and he burned these on the altar.	13 ואת העלה המציאו אליו לנתחיה ואת הראש ויקטר על המזבח
14 He then washed the entrails and shins and burned them with the burnt offering on the altar.	14 וירחץ את הקרב ואת הכרעים ויקטר על העלה המזבחה
15 He then presented the people's offering. He took the goat for the people's sacrifice for sin, slaughteredit, and made a sacrifice for sin with it in the same way as with the first.	15 ויקרב את קרבן העם ויקח את שעיר החטאת אשר לעם וישחטהו ויחטאהו כראשון
16 He then had the burnt offering brought forward and proceeded according to the ritual.	16 ויקרב את העלה ויעשה כמשפט
17 He then had the cereal offering brought forward, took a handful of it and burned it on the altar inaddition to the morning burnt offering.	17 ויקרב את המנחה וימלא כפו ממנה ויקטר על המזבח מלבד עלת הבקר
18 Then he slaughtered the bul and the ram as a communion sacrifice for the people. Aaron's sonshanded him the blood and he poured it al around the altar.	18 וישחט את השור ואת האיל זבח השלמים אשר לעם וימצאו בני אהרן את הדם אליו ויזרקהו על המזבח סביב
19 The fat of the bul and the ram, the tail, the covering fat, the kidneys, the mass of fat over the liver,	19 ואת החלבים מן השור ומן האיל האליה והמכסה והכלית ויתרת הכבד
20 he placed on the ribs and then burned on the altar.	20 וישימו את החלבים על החזות ויקטר החלבים המזבחה
21 With the ribs and the right thigh Aaron made the gesture of offering as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	21 ואת החזות ואת שוק הימין הניף אהרן תנופה לפני יהוה כאשר צוה משה
22 Aaron then raised his hands towards the people and blessed them. Having thus performed thesacrifice for sin, the burnt offering and the communion sacrifice, he came down	22 וישא אהרן את ידו אל העם ויברכם וירד מעשת החטאת והעלה והשלמים
23 and entered the Tent of Meeting with Moses. Then they came out together to bless the people and theglory of Yahweh appeared to the entire people:	23 ויבא משה ואהרן אל אהל מועד ויצאו ויברכו את העם וירא כבוד יהוה אל כל העם
24 a flame leapt out from Yahweh's presence and consumed the burnt offering and fat on the altar. At thissight the entire people shouted for joy and fel on their faces.	24 ותצא אש מלפני יהוה ותאכל על המזבח את העלה ואת החלבים וירא כל העם וירנו ויפלו על פניהם
