Leviticus 16

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron who died when offering unauthorisedfire.	1 El Señor habló a Moisés después de la muerte de los dos hijos de Aarón, que murieron al presentarse delante del Señor.
2 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said: 'Tel Aaron your brother that he may not enter the sanctuary insidethe curtain in front of the mercy-seat on the ark whenever he chooses, in case he incurs death, for I appear in acloud on the mercy-seat.	2 El le dijo: Ordena a tu hermano Aarón que no entre en cualquier momento en la parte del Santuario que está detrás del velo, frente a la tapa que cubre el Arca. De lo contrario morirá, porque yo me aparezco en la nube, sobre la tapa del Arca. De lo contrario morirá, porque yo me aparezco en la nube, sobre la tapa del Arca.
3 'This is how he must enter the sanctuary: with a young bul for a sacrifice for sin and a ram for a burntoffering.	3 El deberá entrar en el Santuario solamente de esta manera: con un novillo para un sacrificio por el pecado y con carnero para un holocausto.
4 He will put on a tunic of consecrated linen, wear linen drawers on his body, a linen waistband round hiswaist, and a linen turban on his head. These are the sacred vestments he wil put on after washing himself.	4 Además, tendrá que estar vestido con la túnica sagrada de lino y cubierto con pantalones de lino; se ceñirá con la faja de lino y llevará puesto el turbante de lino. Estas son vestiduras sagradas, que él se pondrá después de haberse bañado con agua.
5 'From the community of Israelites he wil receive two he-goats for a sacrifice for sin and a ram for aburnt offering.	5 Aarón recibirá de la comunidad de los israelitas dos chivos para un sacrificio por el pecado y un carnero para un holocausto.
6 After offering the bul as a sacrifice for his own sin and performing the rite of expiation for himself andhis family,	6 El ofrecerá su propio novillo como sacrificio por el pecado, y practicará como sacrificio por el pecado, y practicará el rito de expiación por sí mismo y por su familia.
7 he wil take the two he-goats and place them before Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.	7 Luego tomará los dos chivos y los presentará delante del Señor, a la entrada de la Carpa del Encuentro.
8 Aaron wil then draw lots over the two goats, one lot to be for Yahweh and the other lot for Azazel.	8 En seguida echará las suertes sobre los dos chivos: una suerte para el Señor y la otra para Azazel.
9 Aaron wil then take the goat on which the lot "For Yahweh" has fal en, and offer it as a sacrifice for sin.	9 Presentará el chivo que la suerte haya destinado al Señor, y lo ofrecerá como sacrificio por el pecado.
10 But the goat on which the lot "For Azazel" has fal en, will be placed alive before Yahweh, for the riteof expiation to be performed with it, and for it then to be sent to Azazel in the desert.	10 En cuanto al chivo destinado por la suerte a Azazel, será puesto vivo delante del Señor, a fin de enviarlo al desierto para Azazel.
11 'Having offered the bul as a sacrifice for his own sin and performed the rite of expiation for himselfand for his family, and slaughtered the bul as a sacrifice for sin,	11 Aarón ofrecerá su propio novillo como sacrificio por el pecado y practicará el rito de expiación por sí mismo y por su familia. Lo inmolará,
12 Aaron wil then fill a censer with live coals from the altar before Yahweh, take two handfuls of finelyground aromatic incense and bring this inside the curtain.	12 y después tomará un incensario lleno de brasas extraídas del altar que está delante del Señor, y dos puñados de incienso aromático pulverizado. Llevará todo esto detrás del velo,
13 He wil then put the incense on the fire before Yahweh, so that the cloud of incense hides the mercy-seat which is on the Testimony and he does not incur death.	13 y pondrá el incienso sobre el fuego delante del Señor, de manera que la nube de incienso envuelva la tapa que está encima del Arca del Testimonio. Así no morirá.
14 He wil then take some of the bul 's blood and sprinkle it with his finger on the eastern side of themercy-seat. He will sprinkle some of the blood seven times with his finger in front of the mercy-seat.	14 Después tomará la sangre del novillo y rociará con el dedo la parte delantera de la tapa, hacia el este; y delante de la tapa, hará con el dedo siete aspersiones de sangre.
15 'He wil then slaughter the goat for the sacrifice for the sin of the people, and take its blood inside thecurtain, and with this blood do as he did with the blood of the bull, sprinkling it on the mercy-seat and in front ofit.	15 En seguida inmolará el chivo para el sacrificio por el pecado del pueblo y llevará su sangre detrás del velo. Allí hará con ella lo mismo que hizo con la sangre del novillo: hará las aspersiones sobre la tapa y delante de ella.
16 This is how he must perform the rite of expiation for the sanctuary for the uncleanness of theIsraelites, for their acts of rebel ion and al their sins. 'And this is what he must do for the Tent of Meeting whichremains with them, surrounded by their uncleanness.	16 Así practicará el rito de expiación por el Santuario, para purificarlo de las impurezas y transgresiones de los israelitas, cualesquiera sean sus pecados, Y lo mismo hará con la Carpa del Encuentro, que habita con ellos en medio de sus impurezas.
17 No one must be inside the Tent of Meeting, from the moment he enters to make expiation in thesanctuary until the time he comes out. 'When he has made expiation for himself, for his family, and for the wholecommunity of Israel,	17 Cuando Aarón entre en el Santuario para realizar allí el rito de expiación, nadie deberá estar en la Carpa del Encuentro, hasta que él salga. Después de practicar el rito de expiación por sí mismo, por su familia y por toda la asamblea de Israel,
18 he must come outside, go to the altar before Yahweh and perform the rite of expiation for it. He willtake some of the bul 's blood and some of the goat's blood and put it on the horns at the corners of the altar alaround it,	18 Aarón saldrá hasta el altar que está delante del Señor para realizar el rito de expiación por ese altar: tomará sangre del novillo y del chivo, y la pondrá sobre cada uno de los cuernos del altar;
19 and sprinkle some of the blood on it seven times with his finger, thus purifying it and setting it apartfrom the uncleanness of the Israelites.	19 luego hará con el dedo siete aspersiones de sangre sobre el altar, y así lo purificará de las impurezas de los israelitas, y lo santificará
20 'Once expiation for the sanctuary, the Tent of Meeting and the altar is complete, he will bring the goatwhich is stil alive.	20 Cuando haya terminado de practicar el rito de expiación por el Santuario, por la Carpa del Encuentro y por el altar, presentará el chivo que todavía está vivo,
21 Aaron wil then lay both his hands on its head and over it confess al the guilt of the Israelites, al theiracts of rebel ion and all their sins. Having thus laid them on the goat's head, he will send it out into the desertunder the charge of a man waiting ready,	21 Aarón impondrá sus dos manos sobre la cabeza del animal y confesará sobre él todas las iniquidades y transgresiones de los israelitas, cualesquiera sean los pecados que hayan cometido, cargándolas sobre la cabeza del chivo. Entonces lo enviará al desierto por medio de un hombre designado para ello.
22 and the goat wil bear all their guilt away into some desolate place. 'When he has sent the goat intothe desert,	22 El chivo llevará sobre sí, hacia una región inaccesible, todas las iniquidades que ellos hayan cometido; y el animal será soltado en el desierto.
23 Aaron wil go back into the Tent of Meeting and take off the linen vestments which he wore to enterthe sanctuary and leave them there.	23 Aarón entrará en la Carpa del Encuentro, se despojará de las vestiduras de lino que se había puesto cuando entró en el Santuario, y las dejará allí.
24 He wil then wash his body inside the holy place, put on his vestments and come outside to offer hisown and the people's burnt offering. He wil perform the rite of expiation for himself and for the people,	24 Luego se lavará con agua en el recinto sagrado y se volverá a poner sus vestiduras. En seguida saldrá para ofrecer su holocausto y el holocausto del pueblo, y para practicar el rito de expiación por sí mismo y por el pueblo.
25 and burn the fat of the sacrifice for sin on the altar.	25 Las partes grasosas de la víctima del sacrificio por el pecado, las hará sobre el altar.
26 'The man who led the goat away to Azazel wil wash his clothes and body before entering the camp.	26 El hombre encargado de soltar el chivo para Azazel deberá lavar su ropa y bañarse con agua; después podrá entrar de nuevo en el campamento.
27 The bul and the goat offered as a sacrifice for sin, the blood of which was taken into the sanctuary forthe rite of expiation, must be taken outside the camp, where their skin, meat and offal are to be burnt.	27 El novillo del sacrificio por el pecado y el chivo del sacrificio por el pecado –cuya sangre fue introducida en el Santuario para el rito de expiación– serán sacados fuera del campamento, y su cuero, su carne y sus excrementos serán consumidos por el fuego.
28 The man who burns them wil wash his clothes and body before entering the camp.	28 La persona que los queme deberá lavar su ropa y bañarse con agua; después podrá entrar de nuevo en el campamento.
29 'This wil be a perpetual law for you. 'On the tenth day of the seventh month you will fast and refrainfrom work, both citizen and resident alien;	29 Este será para ustedes un decreto válido para siempre: El décimo día del séptimo mes ustedes ayunarán y se abstendrán de hacer cualquier clase de trabajo, tanto el nativo como el extranjero que resida entre ustedes.
30 for this is the day on which the rite of expiation will be performed for you to purify you, to purify youbefore Yahweh from al your sins.	30 Porque ese día se practicará el rito de expiación en favor de ustedes, a fin de purificarlos de todos sus pecados. Así quedarán puros delante del Señor.
31 It wil be a sabbatical rest for you and you wil fast. This is a perpetual law.	31 Ese será para ustedes un día de reposo absoluto, en el que deberán ayunar. Se trata de un decreto válido para siempre.
32 'The rite of expiation wil be performed by the priest who has been anointed and instal ed to officiatein succession to his father. He wil put on the linen vestments, the sacred vestments,	32 El sacerdote que haya sido consagrado por la unción e investido para ejercer el sacerdocio como sucesor de su padre, realizará el rito de expiación; se pondrá las vestiduras de lino –las vestiduras sagradas–
33 and perform the rite of expiation for the holy sanctuary, the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and wilthen perform the rite of expiation for the priests and al the people of the community.	33 y realizará el rito de expiación por la parte más santa del Santuario, por la Carpa del Encuentro y por el altar, Lo mismo hará por los sacerdotes y por todos los miembros de la asamblea.
34 This wil be a perpetual law for you; once a year the rite of expiation wil be made for the Israelites foral their sins.' And as Yahweh ordered Moses, so it was done.	34 Este será para ustedes un decreto válido para siempre: una vez al año se realizará el rito de expiación en favor de los israelitas, por todos sus pecados. Y Moisés hizo lo que el Señor le había ordenado.
