1 Yahweh spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron who died when offering unauthorisedfire.	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse après que moururent les deux fils d’Aaron, morts en s’approchant de Yahvé.
2 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said: 'Tel Aaron your brother that he may not enter the sanctuary insidethe curtain in front of the mercy-seat on the ark whenever he chooses, in case he incurs death, for I appear in acloud on the mercy-seat.	2 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Que ton frère Aaron n’entre pas n’importe quand dans le Saint, derrière le rideau, devant l’Instrument de l’Expiation qui est sur l’Arche, s’il ne veut pas mourir; car c’est là, sur l’Instrument de l’Expiation, que je me manifeste dans la nuée.
3 'This is how he must enter the sanctuary: with a young bul for a sacrifice for sin and a ram for a burntoffering.	3 Voici comment Aaron entrera dans le Saint: il faudra qu’il se procure un jeune taureau pour l’expiation et un bélier pour l’holocauste.
4 He will put on a tunic of consecrated linen, wear linen drawers on his body, a linen waistband round hiswaist, and a linen turban on his head. These are the sacred vestments he wil put on after washing himself.	4 Il portera la sainte tunique de lin, il aura sur le corps des caleçons de lin, il portera une ceinture de lin et sera coiffé d’un turban de lin. Après s’être lavé tout entier dans l’eau, il revêtira ses habits sacrés.
5 'From the community of Israelites he wil receive two he-goats for a sacrifice for sin and a ram for aburnt offering.	5 La communauté des Israélites lui donnera deux boucs pour le péché et un bélier pour l’holocauste.
6 After offering the bul as a sacrifice for his own sin and performing the rite of expiation for himself andhis family,	6 Aaron offrira le jeune taureau qu’il a apporté pour le péché et fera la demande de pardon pour lui et pour sa maison.
7 he wil take the two he-goats and place them before Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.	7 Il prendra ensuite les deux boucs et les présentera devant Yahvé à l’entrée de la Tente du Rendez-Vous.
8 Aaron wil then draw lots over the two goats, one lot to be for Yahweh and the other lot for Azazel.	8 Aaron tirera au sort entre les deux boucs: un pour Yahvé et un autre pour Azazel.
9 Aaron wil then take the goat on which the lot "For Yahweh" has fal en, and offer it as a sacrifice for sin.	9 Il fera approcher le bouc désigné par le sort pour Yahvé, et il l’offrira en sacrifice pour le péché.
10 But the goat on which the lot "For Azazel" has fal en, will be placed alive before Yahweh, for the riteof expiation to be performed with it, and for it then to be sent to Azazel in the desert.	10 Le bouc désigné par le sort pour Azazel sera alors conduit vivant devant Yahvé. On fera sur lui le rite de l’expiation et on le chassera vers le désert, vers Azazel.
11 'Having offered the bul as a sacrifice for his own sin and performed the rite of expiation for himselfand for his family, and slaughtered the bul as a sacrifice for sin,	11 Aaron offrira ensuite le taureau qu’il a amené pour le sacrifice du péché, pour lui et pour sa famille. Après avoir égorgé son taureau,
12 Aaron wil then fill a censer with live coals from the altar before Yahweh, take two handfuls of finelyground aromatic incense and bring this inside the curtain.	12 il prendra sur l’autel, devant Yahvé, un encensoir plein de charbons brûlants et deux poignées d’encens parfumé en poudre. Il portera le tout derrière le rideau.
13 He wil then put the incense on the fire before Yahweh, so that the cloud of incense hides the mercy-seat which is on the Testimony and he does not incur death.	13 Il mettra l’encens parfumé sur le feu devant Yahvé de façon à couvrir d’un nuage d’encens l’Instrument de l’Expiation qui est sur le Témoignage. Ainsi il ne mourra pas.
14 He wil then take some of the bul 's blood and sprinkle it with his finger on the eastern side of themercy-seat. He will sprinkle some of the blood seven times with his finger in front of the mercy-seat.	14 Il prendra alors du sang du jeune taureau, il aspergera avec son doigt la face de l’Instrument de l’Expiation tournée vers le levant. Et il fera sept fois l’aspersion de sang avec son doigt devant l’Instrument de l’Expiation.
15 'He wil then slaughter the goat for the sacrifice for the sin of the people, and take its blood inside thecurtain, and with this blood do as he did with the blood of the bull, sprinkling it on the mercy-seat and in front ofit.	15 Il égorgera alors le bouc réservé pour l’expiation en faveur du peuple. Il en portera le sang derrière le rideau et il en fera ce qu’il a fait avec le sang du jeune taureau: il aspergera l’Instrument de l’Expiation et le devant de l’Instrument de l’Expiation.
16 This is how he must perform the rite of expiation for the sanctuary for the uncleanness of theIsraelites, for their acts of rebel ion and al their sins. 'And this is what he must do for the Tent of Meeting whichremains with them, surrounded by their uncleanness.	16 Et il fera le rite d’expiation dans le Saint pour les impuretés des Israélites: pour leurs fautes et pour tous leurs péchés. C’est ainsi qu’il fera pour la Tente du Rendez-Vous qui est avec eux au milieu de leurs impuretés.
17 No one must be inside the Tent of Meeting, from the moment he enters to make expiation in thesanctuary until the time he comes out. 'When he has made expiation for himself, for his family, and for the wholecommunity of Israel,	17 Il n’y aura personne dans la Tente du Rendez-Vous depuis le moment où il entrera dans le Saint pour faire le rite de l’expiation, jusqu’au moment où il en sortira. Il fera le rite de l’expiation pour lui, pour sa famille et pour toute la communauté des Israélites.
18 he must come outside, go to the altar before Yahweh and perform the rite of expiation for it. He willtake some of the bul 's blood and some of the goat's blood and put it on the horns at the corners of the altar alaround it,	18 Il sortira vers l’autel qui est devant Yahvé et fera le rite de l’expiation sur l’autel. Il prendra du sang du jeune taureau et du sang du bouc et il en mettra sur les cornes de l’autel et tout autour.
19 and sprinkle some of the blood on it seven times with his finger, thus purifying it and setting it apartfrom the uncleanness of the Israelites.	19 Avec son doigt il fera sept fois l’aspersion du sang sur l’autel; ainsi il le purifiera et le sanctifiera de toutes les impuretés des Israélites.
20 'Once expiation for the sanctuary, the Tent of Meeting and the altar is complete, he will bring the goatwhich is stil alive.	20 Lorsque Aaron aura achevé le rite de l’expiation du Saint, de la Tente du Rendez-Vous et de l’autel, il fera approcher le bouc encore vivant.
21 Aaron wil then lay both his hands on its head and over it confess al the guilt of the Israelites, al theiracts of rebel ion and all their sins. Having thus laid them on the goat's head, he will send it out into the desertunder the charge of a man waiting ready,	21 Tenant ses deux mains posées sur la tête du bouc encore vivant, il confessera sur lui toutes les fautes des Israélites, tous leurs manquements et tous leurs péchés. Après les avoir ainsi chargés sur la tête du bouc, il le remettra à un auxiliaire pour que le bouc aille au désert,
22 and the goat wil bear all their guilt away into some desolate place. 'When he has sent the goat intothe desert,	22 et emporte sur lui toutes les fautes vers des lieux désertiques. Après avoir chassé le bouc vers le désert,
23 Aaron wil go back into the Tent of Meeting and take off the linen vestments which he wore to enterthe sanctuary and leave them there.	23 Aaron rentrera dans la Tente du Rendez-Vous. Il enlèvera alors les habits de lin dont il était habillé en entrant dans le Saint et il les y déposera.
24 He wil then wash his body inside the holy place, put on his vestments and come outside to offer hisown and the people's burnt offering. He wil perform the rite of expiation for himself and for the people,	24 Il se baignera tout entier dans l’eau, dans un lieu saint, puis il reprendra ses habits et sortira pour offrir son holocauste et l’holocauste pour le peuple. Après quoi il fera le rite d’expiation pour lui et pour le peuple,
25 and burn the fat of the sacrifice for sin on the altar.	25 et il fera fumer sur l’autel la graisse de la victime pour le péché.
26 'The man who led the goat away to Azazel wil wash his clothes and body before entering the camp.	26 L’homme qui aura chassé le bouc vers Azazel lavera ses habits. Il se baignera tout entier dans l’eau et rentrera ensuite dans le camp.
27 The bul and the goat offered as a sacrifice for sin, the blood of which was taken into the sanctuary forthe rite of expiation, must be taken outside the camp, where their skin, meat and offal are to be burnt.	27 On portera hors du camp le jeune taureau et le bouc que l’on aura égorgés pour l’expiation et dont le sang aura servi pour le rite de l’expiation dans le Saint. On brûlera dans le feu leur peau, leur chair et leurs excréments.
28 The man who burns them wil wash his clothes and body before entering the camp.	28 Celui qui les aura brûlés lavera ses habits, il se baignera tout entier dans l’eau et rentrera ensuite dans le camp.
29 'This wil be a perpetual law for you. 'On the tenth day of the seventh month you will fast and refrainfrom work, both citizen and resident alien;	29 Ceci sera pour vous un rite perpétuel: le 10 du septième mois vous vous humilierez et vous ne ferez aucun travail, ni vous, ni l’étranger qui habite au milieu de vous.
30 for this is the day on which the rite of expiation will be performed for you to purify you, to purify youbefore Yahweh from al your sins.	30 Ce jour-là on fera sur vous le rite de l’expiation pour vous purifier et vous serez purifiés de tous vos péchés devant Yahvé.
31 It wil be a sabbatical rest for you and you wil fast. This is a perpetual law.	31 Ce sera pour vous un jour de repos, comme un sabbat, où vous vous humilierez: ce sera un rite perpétuel.
32 'The rite of expiation wil be performed by the priest who has been anointed and instal ed to officiatein succession to his father. He wil put on the linen vestments, the sacred vestments,	32 L’expiation sera faite par le prêtre qui aura reçu l’onction et qui aura été consacré comme prêtre à la place de son père. Il devra revêtir les vêtements de lin, les vêtements sacrés.
33 and perform the rite of expiation for the holy sanctuary, the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and wilthen perform the rite of expiation for the priests and al the people of the community.	33 Il fera le rite de l’expiation pour le Sanctuaire de Sainteté, pour la Tente du Rendez-Vous et pour l’autel, pour les prêtres et pour toute la communauté du peuple.
34 This wil be a perpetual law for you; once a year the rite of expiation wil be made for the Israelites foral their sins.' And as Yahweh ordered Moses, so it was done.	34 Ce sera pour vous un rite perpétuel. Vous ferez ainsi, une fois par an, le rite de l’expiation pour tous les péchés des Israélites.” On fit donc comme Yahvé l’avait ordonné à Moïse.
