Isaiah 33

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Woe to you, destroying though not yourself destroyed, betraying though not yourself betrayed; whenyou have finished destroying, you wil be destroyed, when you have stopped betraying, you wil be betrayed.	1 Ai de ti, devastador que ainda não foste devastado, salteador que ainda não foste saqueado! Quando acabares de devastar, serás devastado, quando acabares de saquear, serás saqueado.
2 Yahweh, show us your mercy, we hope in you. Be our arm every morning and our salvation in time ofdistress.	2 Senhor, tende piedade de nós, pois esperamos em vós. Sede nosso auxílio em cada manhã e nosso socorro no tempo da tribulação.
3 At the sound of tumult the peoples flee, when you stand up the nations scatter.	3 Ao fragor de vosso trovão, os povos fogem; quando vós vos ergueis, as nações se dispersam.
4 Your spoil is gathered in as a grasshopper gathers in, like a swarm of locusts people descend on it.	4 Recolherão o despojo como se amontoam os gafanhotos, saltam por cima assim como se atiram os gafanhotos.
5 Yahweh is exalted, for he is enthroned above, he has fil ed Zion with fair judgement and saving justice.	5 O Senhor é grande, porque reina no alto; ele enche Sião de retidão e de justiça.
6 You can count on this al your days: wisdom and knowledge are the riches that save, the fear ofYahweh is his treasure.	6 Teus dias estarão em segurança. A sabedoria e o conhecimento garantem a salvação, e o temor do Senhor será o seu tesouro.
7 Look, Ariel is lamenting in the streets, the ambassadors of peace are weeping bitterly.	7 Eis que a gente de Ariel lamenta nas ruas, os mensageiros de paz choram amargamente.
8 The highways are deserted, no travel ers any more on the roads. Agreements are broken, witnessesheld in contempt, there is respect for no one.	8 Os caminhos estão desertos, não há mais transeuntes nas veredas; o inimigo violou o tratado, desprezou as testemunhas, e não teve consideração para com ninguém.
9 The land pines away in mourning, the Lebanon is withering with shame, Sharon has become like thewasteland, Bashan and Carmel are shuddering.	9 A terra está enlutada e abatida, o Líbano, desonrado e ressequido, Saron assemelha-se a uma estepe, Basã e o Carmelo perdem sua folhagem.
10 'Now I shal stand up,' says Yahweh, 'now I shal rise, now draw myself up.	10 Agora eu me erguerei, diz o Senhor, agora eu me manifestarei em toda a minha sublimidade.
11 You conceive chaff, you give birth to straw: like fire, my breath wil devour you.	11 Vós concebestes feno e gerareis palha; meu sopro, como um fogo, vos consumirá.
12 The peoples will be burnt up as though by quicklime, like cut thorns they wil be burnt on the fire.	12 Os povos serão calcinados como espinhos cortados que se queimam.
13 You who are far away, listen to what I have done, and you who are near, realise my strength.'	13 Vós, que estais longe, ouvi o que eu fiz; vós, que estais perto, conhecei o meu poder.
14 The sinners in Zion are panic-stricken and fear seizes on the godless, 'Which of us can survive thedevouring fire, which of us survive everlasting burning?'	14 Em Sião os pecadores serão aterrados, o medo apoderar-se-á dos ímpios. Quem de nós poderá permanecer perto deste fogo devorador? Quem de nós poderá permanecer perto das chamas eternas?
15 The one who acts uprightly and speaks honestly, who scorns to get rich by extortion, who rejectsbribes out of hand, who refuses to listen to plans involving bloodshed and shuts his eyes rather thancountenance crime:	15 Aquele que procede bem e diz a verdade, que não quer um benefício extorquido, que não quer tocar um presente corruptor, que fecha os ouvidos aos propósitos sanguinários e cerra os olhos para não ver o mal.
16 such a man wil live on the heights, the craggy rocks wil be his refuge, he wil be fed, he wil not wantfor water.	16 Semelhante homem habitará nas alturas, e terá por asilo os rochedos fortificados; seu pão lhe é dado e a água lhe é assegurada.
17 Your eyes will gaze on the king in his beauty, they wil look on a country stretching far and wide.	17 Teus olhos verão o rei no seu esplendor, e contemplarão um grande território.
18 Your heart wil meditate on past terrors, 'Where is the man who did the counting? Where is the manwho did the weighing? Where is the man who counted off the towers?'	18 Teu coração recordará os terrores passados: Que foi feito do cobrador? Que foi feito do fiscal? Onde está aquele que inspecionava as fortificações?
19 No more wil you see that insolent people, that people of unintel igible speech, of barbarous andmeaningless tongue.	19 Tu não verás mais aquele povo insolente, aquele povo de linguagem ininteligível, de língua bárbara que ninguém compreende.
20 Gaze at Zion, city of our feasts; your eyes wil see Jerusalem as a home that is secure, a tent not tobe moved, none of its tent-pegs ever to be pul ed out, none of its guy-ropes ever to be broken.	20 Olha para Sião, a cidade de nossas festas; teus olhos verão Jerusalém, habitação tranqüila, tenda bem fixada, cujas estacas jamais serão arrancadas, nem as cordas rompidas.
21 There it is that Yahweh shows us his power, like a place of rivers and very wide canals on which willrow no galley, over which wil pass no majestic ship.	21 Lá, na verdade, temos o arroio do Senhor, que nos serve de rios com largos canais; aí não passa embarcação a remo e nenhum navio imponente o sulca.
22 (For Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh our lawgiver, Yahweh is our king and our Saviour.)	22 Porque o Senhor é nosso juiz, o Senhor é nosso legislador; o Senhor é nosso rei que nos salvará.
23 Your tackle has given way, it cannot support the mast, it cannot hoist the pennon. And so there ismuch booty to be shared out; the lame fal to plundering,	23 {Teus cordames afrouxaram, não sustentam mais o mastro e não estendem mais a vela.} Então o próprio cego apoderar-se-á da sua parte de um grande despojo, e os próprios coxos se entregarão ao saque;
24 and no one living there wil say, 'I am sickly'; the people living there wil find their guilt forgiven.	24 ninguém mais {em Jerusalém} se dirá doente: o povo dessa cidade terá seus pecados perdoados.
