Isaiah 33

1 Woe to you, destroying though not yourself destroyed, betraying though not yourself betrayed; whenyou have finished destroying, you wil be destroyed, when you have stopped betraying, you wil be betrayed.	1 Guai a te, che saccheggi: non sarai tu pur saccheggiato? E a te, che disprezzi, non sarai tu pur disprezzato? Quando avrai finito di saccheggiare, sarai tu saccheggiato: allorché stanco finirai di disprezzare, sarai disprezzato.
2 Yahweh, show us your mercy, we hope in you. Be our arm every morning and our salvation in time ofdistress.	2 Signore abbi pietà di noi; perocché te noi abbiamo aspettato: sii tu nostra fortezza al mattino, e nostra salute al tempo della tribolazione.
3 At the sound of tumult the peoples flee, when you stand up the nations scatter.	3 Alla voce dell'Angelo fuggirono i popoli; e alzandoti tu le nazioni furon disperse.
4 Your spoil is gathered in as a grasshopper gathers in, like a swarm of locusts people descend on it.	4 E le vostre spoglie saranno raccolte, come si raccolgono i bruci, quando di essi s'empion le fosse.
5 Yahweh is exalted, for he is enthroned above, he has fil ed Zion with fair judgement and saving justice.	5 E' stato glorificato il Signore, che abita nell'alto: ha ripiena Sionne di equità, e di giustizia.
6 You can count on this al your days: wisdom and knowledge are the riches that save, the fear ofYahweh is his treasure.	6 E regnerà ne' tuoi tempi la fede: la sapienza, e la scienza son sue ricchezze salutari: e il timor del Signore il suo proprio tesoro.
7 Look, Ariel is lamenting in the streets, the ambassadors of peace are weeping bitterly.	7 Ecco che que' di fuori in veggendo alzeranno le strida, i nunzj di pace piangeranno amaramente.
8 The highways are deserted, no travel ers any more on the roads. Agreements are broken, witnessesheld in contempt, there is respect for no one.	8 Le strade sono deserte, nissuno più passa pe' sentieri, è rotto il patto; egli a gettate a terra le città; non fa conto degli uomini.
9 The land pines away in mourning, the Lebanon is withering with shame, Sharon has become like thewasteland, Bashan and Carmel are shuddering.	9 La terra è in pianto, ed in abbattimento: il Libano è disonorato, e negletto: il Saron è cangiato in deserto: Basan, ed il Carmelo sono spogliati.
10 'Now I shal stand up,' says Yahweh, 'now I shal rise, now draw myself up.	10 Adesso mi alzerò io, dice il Signore: adesso sarò io esaltato, adesso sarò glorificato.
11 You conceive chaff, you give birth to straw: like fire, my breath wil devour you.	11 Concepirete focosi disegni, il parto sarà di stoppie: il vostro spirito stesso qual fuoco vi divorerà.
12 The peoples will be burnt up as though by quicklime, like cut thorns they wil be burnt on the fire.	12 E saran questi popoli come la cenere, che rimane dopo un incendio,come fascio di spine saranno arsi dal fuoco.
13 You who are far away, listen to what I have done, and you who are near, realise my strength.'	13 Udite voi, che siete lontani, le cose, che io ho fatte, e voi vicini imparate a conoscer la mia possanza.
14 The sinners in Zion are panic-stricken and fear seizes on the godless, 'Which of us can survive thedevouring fire, which of us survive everlasting burning?'	14 Si sono atterriti in Sionne i peccatori, la paura è entrata addosso agl'ipocriti. Chi di voi potrà abitare con un fuoco divoratore? Chi di voi abiterà tragli ardori sempiterni?
15 The one who acts uprightly and speaks honestly, who scorns to get rich by extortion, who rejectsbribes out of hand, who refuses to listen to plans involving bloodshed and shuts his eyes rather thancountenance crime:	15 Colui, che cammina nella giustizia, ed è verace nel suo parlare, e abborrisce gli acquisti della calunnia, e dalle sue mani rigetta ogni donativo, e le orecchie si tura, per non ascoltare il sangue, e serra i suoi occhi per non vedere il male.
16 such a man wil live on the heights, the craggy rocks wil be his refuge, he wil be fed, he wil not wantfor water.	16 Questi abiterà in luogo altissimo, la sua elevazione sarà sopra una rocca di vivo sasso: è dato a lui il suo pane, le sue acque non mancano giammai.
17 Your eyes will gaze on the king in his beauty, they wil look on a country stretching far and wide.	17 Gli occhi di lui vedranno il Re nella sua gloria, mireranno da lungi la terra.
18 Your heart wil meditate on past terrors, 'Where is the man who did the counting? Where is the manwho did the weighing? Where is the man who counted off the towers?'	18 Il tuo cuore ripenserà a' suoi timori: Dov' è l'uomo di lettere? Dove colui, che pesa le parole della legge? Dove il maestro de' piccoli?
19 No more wil you see that insolent people, that people of unintel igible speech, of barbarous andmeaningless tongue.	19 Tu non vedrai un popolo senza verecondia, un popolo di linguaggio oscuro, di cui tu non possi intendere i gerghi di sua lingua, ed il quale è privo di ogni saggezza.
20 Gaze at Zion, city of our feasts; your eyes wil see Jerusalem as a home that is secure, a tent not tobe moved, none of its tent-pegs ever to be pul ed out, none of its guy-ropes ever to be broken.	20 Volgi lo sguardo a Sionne, città dove celebrasi la nostra solennità: gli occhi tuoi vedranno Gerusalemme, mansione di dovizia, padiglione, cui non potrà farsi cambiar di sito: i suoi chiodi non saranno smossi in eterno, e nissuna' delle sue corde si romperà;
21 There it is that Yahweh shows us his power, like a place of rivers and very wide canals on which willrow no galley, over which wil pass no majestic ship.	21 Perocché ivi solamente e magnifico il Signore nostro: il letto de' fiumi suoi sarà canale larghissimo, e spazioso: non passerà per esso nave a remi, né alcuna grande trieride lo valicherà.
22 (For Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh our lawgiver, Yahweh is our king and our Saviour.)	22 Imperocché il Signore è nostro giudice, il Signore nostro legislatore, il Signore nostro Re: egli ci salverà.
23 Your tackle has given way, it cannot support the mast, it cannot hoist the pennon. And so there ismuch booty to be shared out; the lame fal to plundering,	23 Si son allentati i tuoi cordami, e non reggeranno: il tuo albero sarà in tale stato, che non potrai spiegarvi lo stendardo. Allora si stribuiranno le spoglie, e le prede copiose: gli zoppi anderanno a far bottino.
24 and no one living there wil say, 'I am sickly'; the people living there wil find their guilt forgiven.	24 E il vicino non dirà: io son fiacco: il popolo, che ivi abiterà, sarà sciolto dalla sua iniquità.
