Isaiah 33

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Woe to you, destroying though not yourself destroyed, betraying though not yourself betrayed; whenyou have finished destroying, you wil be destroyed, when you have stopped betraying, you wil be betrayed.	1 - Guai a te, che predi, non sarai tu pure depredato? Guai a te, che oltraggi, non sarai tu pure oltraggiato? Quando avrai finito di predare, sarai depredato; quando stanco cesserai di oltraggiare, sarai oltraggiato.
2 Yahweh, show us your mercy, we hope in you. Be our arm every morning and our salvation in time ofdistress.	2 Signore, abbi pietà di noi, perchè abbiamo aspettato te! Sii tu nostro braccio fin dal mattino, nostra salvezza nel tempo della tribolazione!
3 At the sound of tumult the peoples flee, when you stand up the nations scatter.	3 Alla voce dell'Angelo i popoli sono fuggiti, quando ti sei alzato le nazioni si dispersero.
4 Your spoil is gathered in as a grasshopper gathers in, like a swarm of locusts people descend on it.	4 Le vostre spoglie saranno ammucchiate come si ammucchiano i bruchi, come quando di essi ne sono piene le fosse.
5 Yahweh is exalted, for he is enthroned above, he has fil ed Zion with fair judgement and saving justice.	5 Il Signore ha trionfato, perchè abita nell'alto, ha ripiena Sion di equità e di giustizia.
6 You can count on this al your days: wisdom and knowledge are the riches that save, the fear ofYahweh is his treasure.	6 E nei tuoi tempi vi sarà fede, dovizia di salute, sapienza e scienza e timor del Signore sarà questo il tuo tesoro.
7 Look, Ariel is lamenting in the streets, the ambassadors of peace are weeping bitterly.	7 Ecco, i veggenti gridano da fuori, e i messaggeri di pace piangono amaramente.
8 The highways are deserted, no travel ers any more on the roads. Agreements are broken, witnessesheld in contempt, there is respect for no one.	8 Le vie sono deserte, per le strade non passa più nessuno; i patti sono stati rotti, rigettò egli le città, non tenne in conto alcuno gli uomini.
9 The land pines away in mourning, the Lebanon is withering with shame, Sharon has become like thewasteland, Bashan and Carmel are shuddering.	9 La terra piange e langue, il Libano è confuso e avvilito, Saron è diventato come un deserto, Basan e il Carmelo sono smunti e sbattuti!
10 'Now I shal stand up,' says Yahweh, 'now I shal rise, now draw myself up.	10 Ora mi leverò io, ora mi alzerò, ora sorgerò io, dice il Signore.
11 You conceive chaff, you give birth to straw: like fire, my breath wil devour you.	11 Concepiste paglia, partorirete stoppa; il vostro soffio farà una fiamma che vi consumerà.
12 The peoples will be burnt up as though by quicklime, like cut thorns they wil be burnt on the fire.	12 E i popoli saranno come le ceneri dopo l'incendio, come spine ammonticchiate saranno arsi dal fuoco.
13 You who are far away, listen to what I have done, and you who are near, realise my strength.'	13 Udite, voi che siete lontani, quant'io ho fatto; conoscete, voi vicini, la mia potenza!
14 The sinners in Zion are panic-stricken and fear seizes on the godless, 'Which of us can survive thedevouring fire, which of us survive everlasting burning?'	14 I peccatori in Sion rimasero atterriti, furon presi da spavento gl'ipocriti. Chi di voi potrà dimorare con un fuoco divoratore? Chi di voi potrà dimorare tra gli ardori sempiterni?
15 The one who acts uprightly and speaks honestly, who scorns to get rich by extortion, who rejectsbribes out of hand, who refuses to listen to plans involving bloodshed and shuts his eyes rather thancountenance crime:	15 Chi procede con giustizia e parla con verità, chi aborre dalla roba di mal acquisto, e scuote dalle mani ogni donativo, chi chiude le orecchie alle istigazioni di sangue, e serra gli occhi per non vedere il male.
16 such a man wil live on the heights, the craggy rocks wil be his refuge, he wil be fed, he wil not wantfor water.	16 Questi avrà dimora in luogo eccelso, rupi massicce a sua sublime difesa; è provvisto di pane, e le sue acque sono assicurate.
17 Your eyes will gaze on the king in his beauty, they wil look on a country stretching far and wide.	17 Gli occhi suoi vedranno il re nel suo splendore, scorreranno collo sguardo la terra da lontano.
18 Your heart wil meditate on past terrors, 'Where is the man who did the counting? Where is the manwho did the weighing? Where is the man who counted off the towers?'	18 Il tuo cuore penserà con terrore: «Dov'è il letterato? dove il ponderatore delle parole della legge? dove il dottore dei parvoli?».
19 No more wil you see that insolent people, that people of unintel igible speech, of barbarous andmeaningless tongue.	19 No, tu non rivedrai più il popolo inverecondo, la gente dal linguaggio oscuro che non s'intende, dall'idioma balbuziente che non si comprende.
20 Gaze at Zion, city of our feasts; your eyes wil see Jerusalem as a home that is secure, a tent not tobe moved, none of its tent-pegs ever to be pul ed out, none of its guy-ropes ever to be broken.	20 Mira Sion, città delle nostre solennità: gli occhi tuoi rivedranno Gerusalemme, stanza della dovizia, padiglione che non potrà mai essere rimosso; i suoi piuoli non saranno divelti in eterno, le sue corde non saranno mai spezzate.
21 There it is that Yahweh shows us his power, like a place of rivers and very wide canals on which willrow no galley, over which wil pass no majestic ship.	21 Perchè ivi solamente risiede nella sua magnificenza il Signore nostro: luogo di fiumi con canali larghissimi e spaziosi, non vi passerà nave a remi nè alcun grosso vascello lo valicherà.
22 (For Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh our lawgiver, Yahweh is our king and our Saviour.)	22 Perchè il Signore è nostro giudice, il Signore è nostro legislatore, il Signore è nostro re, egli ci salverà.
23 Your tackle has given way, it cannot support the mast, it cannot hoist the pennon. And so there ismuch booty to be shared out; the lame fal to plundering,	23 Si sono allentati i tuoi cordami e non reggeranno; la tua antenna è in tale stato, da non potervi spiegare lo stendardo. Allora saranno spartite le spoglie e le prede copiose: gli zoppi giungeranno a farne bottino.
24 and no one living there wil say, 'I am sickly'; the people living there wil find their guilt forgiven.	24 E non si udirà nel vicinato dire: «Io sono infermo!». Il popolo che ivi abita sarà sciolto dalla sua iniquità.
