Isaiah 33

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Woe to you, destroying though not yourself destroyed, betraying though not yourself betrayed; whenyou have finished destroying, you wil be destroyed, when you have stopped betraying, you wil be betrayed.	1 ¡Ay de ti, devastador que no has sido devastado, traidor, a quien no han traicionado! Cuando termines de devastar, serás devastado, cuando acabes de traicionar, te traicionarán a ti.
2 Yahweh, show us your mercy, we hope in you. Be our arm every morning and our salvation in time ofdistress.	2 Señor, ten piedad de nosotros, nosotros esperamos en ti. Sé nuestro brazo cada mañana y nuestra salvación en el tiempo de la angustia.
3 At the sound of tumult the peoples flee, when you stand up the nations scatter.	3 Al estruendo de tu voz, huyen los pueblos; cuando te alzas, se dispersan las naciones.
4 Your spoil is gathered in as a grasshopper gathers in, like a swarm of locusts people descend on it.	4 Como arrasa la oruga, se recoge el botín; se abalanzan sobre él, como una bandada de langostas.
5 Yahweh is exalted, for he is enthroned above, he has fil ed Zion with fair judgement and saving justice.	5 El Señor es sublime porque habita en las alturas: él llena a Sión con el derecho y la justicia,
6 You can count on this al your days: wisdom and knowledge are the riches that save, the fear ofYahweh is his treasure.	6 él será la seguridad de tus días. La sabiduría y la ciencia son la riqueza salvadora; el temor del Señor, ese es su tesoro.
7 Look, Ariel is lamenting in the streets, the ambassadors of peace are weeping bitterly.	7 La gente de Ariel grita por las calles, los mensajeros de paz lloran amargamente.
8 The highways are deserted, no travel ers any more on the roads. Agreements are broken, witnessesheld in contempt, there is respect for no one.	8 Los senderos están desolados, nadie transita por los caminos. Se ha roto la alianza, se rechaza a los testigos, no se tiene en cuenta a nadie.
9 The land pines away in mourning, the Lebanon is withering with shame, Sharon has become like thewasteland, Bashan and Carmel are shuddering.	9 La tierra está de duelo y desfallece, el Líbano pierde el color y se marchita, el Sarón se ha convertido en una estepa, el Basán y el Carmelo se deshojan.
10 'Now I shal stand up,' says Yahweh, 'now I shal rise, now draw myself up.	10 «Ahora me levantaré, dice el Señor, ahora me erguiré. ahora me alzaré.
11 You conceive chaff, you give birth to straw: like fire, my breath wil devour you.	11 Ustedes han concebido hecho y darán a luz paja; mi soplo es un fuego que los va a devorar.
12 The peoples will be burnt up as though by quicklime, like cut thorns they wil be burnt on the fire.	12 Los pueblos serán calcinados, como espinas cortadas, arderán en el fuego.
13 You who are far away, listen to what I have done, and you who are near, realise my strength.'	13 Los que están lejos, escuchen lo que hice; los que están cerca, reconozcan mi poder».
14 The sinners in Zion are panic-stricken and fear seizes on the godless, 'Which of us can survive thedevouring fire, which of us survive everlasting burning?'	14 Están aterrados en Sión los pecadores, un temblor invade a los impíos: «¿Quién de nosotros habitará en una hoguera eterna?».
15 The one who acts uprightly and speaks honestly, who scorns to get rich by extortion, who rejectsbribes out of hand, who refuses to listen to plans involving bloodshed and shuts his eyes rather thancountenance crime:	15 El que obra con justicia y que habla con rectitud, el que rehúsa una ganancia extorsionada, el que sacude sus manos para no retener el soborno, el que tapa sus oídos a las propuestas sanguinarias, el que cierra los ojos para no ver la maldad:
16 such a man wil live on the heights, the craggy rocks wil be his refuge, he wil be fed, he wil not wantfor water.	16 ese hombre habitará en las alturas, rocas fortificadas serán su baluarte, se le dará su pan y tendrá el agua asegurada.
17 Your eyes will gaze on the king in his beauty, they wil look on a country stretching far and wide.	17 Tus ojos verán a un rey en su hermosura, contemplarán un país que se extiende a lo lejos.
18 Your heart wil meditate on past terrors, 'Where is the man who did the counting? Where is the manwho did the weighing? Where is the man who counted off the towers?'	18 Tú evocarás lo que te horrorizaba: «¿Dónde está el que contaba, donde el que pesaba, dónde el que numeraba las torres?».
19 No more wil you see that insolent people, that people of unintel igible speech, of barbarous andmeaningless tongue.	19 Ya no verás más a aquel pueblo brutal, aquel pueblo de lengua impenetrable, que tartamudea en un idioma incomprensible.
20 Gaze at Zion, city of our feasts; your eyes wil see Jerusalem as a home that is secure, a tent not tobe moved, none of its tent-pegs ever to be pul ed out, none of its guy-ropes ever to be broken.	20 Mira a Sión, la ciudad de nuestras fiestas, que tus ojos vean a Jerusalén, morada tranquila, carpa que no será desplazada, cuyas estacas no serán arrancadas y cuyas cuerdas no se romperán.
21 There it is that Yahweh shows us his power, like a place of rivers and very wide canals on which willrow no galley, over which wil pass no majestic ship.	21 Porque allí el Señor se muestra magnífico con nosotros, como un lugar de ríos, de canales anchurosos, por donde no circula ningún barco a remos ni atraviesa ningún navío poderoso.
22 (For Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh our lawgiver, Yahweh is our king and our Saviour.)	22 Porque el Señor es nuestro Juez, el Señor es nuestro Legislador, el Señor es nuestro Rey: él nos salvará.
23 Your tackle has given way, it cannot support the mast, it cannot hoist the pennon. And so there ismuch booty to be shared out; the lame fal to plundering,	23 ¡Se aflojan tus cordajes, ya no sostienen el mástil, ni se despliega el pabellón!
24 and no one living there wil say, 'I am sickly'; the people living there wil find their guilt forgiven.	24 Ningún habitante dirá: «Me siento mal», y al pueblo que habita allí le será perdonada su culpa.
