Sirach 39

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Not so with one who concentrates his mind and his meditation on the Law of the Most High. Heresearches into the wisdom of al the Ancients, he occupies his time with the prophecies.	1 Il saggio ricercherà la sapienza di tutti gli antichi e attenderà allo studio dei profeti.
2 He preserves the discourses of famous men, he is at home with the niceties of parables.	2 Raccoglierà i racconti degli uomini celebri e nel medesimo tempo penetrerà nelle sottigliezze delle parabole.
3 He researches into the hidden sense of proverbs, he ponders the obscurities of parables.	3 Indagherà il recondito senso dei proverbi e si occuperà degli enimmi delle parabole.
4 He enters the service of princes, he is seen in the presence of rulers. He travels in foreign countries, hehas experienced human good and human evil.	4 Eserciterà il suo ministero in mezzo ai grandi, e comparirà dinanzi a chi governa.
5 At dawn and with al his heart he turns to the Lord his Creator; he pleads in the presence of the MostHigh, he opens his mouth in prayer and makes entreaty for his sins.	5 Percorrerà paesi di nazioni straniere per far la prova del bene e del male che è tra gli uomini.
6 If such be the wil of the great Lord, he wil be filled with the spirit of intel igence, he wil shower forthwords of wisdom, and in prayer give thanks to the Lord.	6 Rivolgerà il suo cuore a vegliare fin dal mattino al Signore che l'ha fatto, e farà le sue preghiere davanti all'Altissimo.
7 He will grow upright in purpose and learning, he will ponder the Lord's hidden mysteries.	7 Aprirà la sua bocca nell'orazione e chiederà (perdono) per i suoi peccati.
8 He will display the instruction he has received, taking his pride in the Law of the Lord's covenant.	8 Se poi il gran Signore vorrà, lo riempirà dello spirito d'intelligenza,
9 Many wil praise his intel igence and it wil never be forgotten. His memory will not disappear,generation after generation his name will live.	9 ed egli spanderà come pioggia gl'insegnamenti nella sua sapienza e nella preghiera darà lode ai Signore.
10 Nations wil proclaim his wisdom, the assembly will celebrate his praises.	10 Il Signore dirigerà il suo consiglio e la sua scienza, ed egli ne mediterà i segreti.
11 If he lives long, his name will be more glorious than a thousand others, and if he dies, that wil satisfyhim just as wel .	11 Egli esporrà pubblicamente la sua educatrice dottrina e metterà, la sua gloria nella legge dell'alleanza del Signore.
12 And here are some more of my reflections: yes, I am as ful as the moon at the ful !	12 Molti si uniranno a lodare la sua sapienza, che non sarà dimenticata in eterno.
13 Listen to me, devout children, and blossom like the rose that grows on the bank of a watercourse.	13 Il suo ricordo non verrà meno, e il suo nome sarà ripetuto di generazione in generazione.
14 Give off a sweet smel like incense, flower like the lily, spread your fragrance abroad, sing a song ofpraise blessing the Lord for all his works.	14 Le nazioni parleranno della sua sapienza, e l'assemblea celebrerà le sue iodi.
15 Declare the greatness of his name, proclaim his praise with song and with lyre, and this is how youmust sing his praises:	15 Se vivrà, avrà fama più di mille altri; se riposerà, gii sarà utile.
16 'How wonderful, the actions of the Lord! Whatever he orders is done at the proper time!' You must notsay, 'What is this? Why is that?' There is a proper time for every question.	16 Seguiterò ancora a esporre, perchè son pieno di (sacro) furore.
17 At his word, the water stops and piles up high, at his voice, the watery reservoirs take shape,	17 Con viva voce dice: Ascoltatemi, o divini germogli, e fruttificate come rose piantate lungo la corrente delle acque.
18 at his command, whatever he wants is done, no one can stop him, if he intends to save.	18 Come il Libano diffondete odore soave.
19 He can see whatever human beings are doing, nothing can be hidden from his eye;	19 Buttate fiori, come gigli, effondete odori, mettete graziose fronde, cantate insieme il cantico e benedite il Signore nelle sue opere.
20 his gaze stretches from eternity to eternity, and nothing can astonish him.	20 Magnificate il suo nome, glorificatelo colle parole della vostra bocca, coi cantici delle vostre labbra, e sulle arpe celebratelo dicendo:
21 You must not say, 'What is this? Why is that?' for everything has been made for a purpose.	21 Le opere del Signore son tutte molto buone.
22 As his blessing covers the dry land like a river and soaks it like a flood,	22 Alla sua parola l'acqua si fermò come ammassata, alla parola della sua bocca, come in serbatoio d'acque.
23 so retribution is his legacy to the nations, just as he has turned fresh waters to salt.	23 Al suo cenno vien la calma, ed è perfetta la salute da lui donata.
24 His ways are as smooth for the devout, as they are ful of obstacles for the wicked.	24 Le opere d'ogni mortale gli stanno davanti, e nulla può esser nascosto agli occhi suoi.
25 Good things were created from the beginning for good people, as bad ones were for sinners.	25 Egli volge gli occhi da un secolo all'altro e niente è maraviglioso davanti a lui.
26 The prime needs of human beings for living are water and fire, iron and salt, wheat-flour, milk andhoney, the juice of the grape, oil and clothing.	26 Non occorre dire: « Che è questo, che è quello? » perchè ogni cosa sarà ricercata a suo tempo.
27 Al these are good for those who are good, but turn out bad for sinners.	27 La sua benedizione è come fiume che inonda;
28 Some winds have been created for punishing, in his fury, he uses them as scourges; on the day ofdoom, they unleash their violence and appease the wrath of their Creator.	28 Come il diluvio inondò la terra, così l'ira sua s'impossesserà delle nazioni che non l'han cercato.
29 Fire and hail, famine and death, have al been created for punishing.	29 Come mutò le acque in siccità e fece rimanere la terra asciutta e le vie fatte da lui furon comode al loro viaggio, così per la sua collera furon funeste ai peccatori.
30 Wild animals' fangs, scorpions, vipers, the avenging sword for the ruin of the godless:	30 Fin dal principio il bene fu creato per i buoni, così per i malvagi il bene e il male.
31 all of them exult in discharging his orders, ready on earth whenever the need arises and, when theirtime comes, not fal ing short of his word.	31 Le cose più necessarie alla vita dell'uomo, l'acqua, il fuoco, il ferro, il sale, il latte, il pane di fior di farina, il miele, il grappolo dell'uva, l'olio, le vesti,
32 That is why I was determined from the outset, why I have pondered and why I have written,	32 Tutte queste cose riescono buone per i santi, ma per gli empi, per i peccatori si convertono in male.
33 'The works of the Lord are all good, when the time is right, he gives whatever is needed.	33 Vi son degli spiriti creati per la vendetta, ed essi nel loro furore aumentano i loro tormenti,
34 You must not say, "This is worse than that," for, sooner or later, everything proves its worth.	34 Nel tempo della distruzione metteran fuori la loro forza e placheranno il furore di chi li ha fatti.
35 So now, sing with al your heart and voice, and bless the name of the Lord!'	35 Il fuoco, la grandine, la fame, la morte, tutte queste cose son create per castigo;
	36 I denti delle fiere, gli scorpioni, i serpenti e la spada vendicatrice a sterminio degli empi.
	37 Al suo comando esulteranno, staran sulla terra pronte al bisogno, e, venuto il tempo, non trasgrediranno i suoi comandi.
	38 Per questo fin da principio ne restai persuaso, tenni meco consiglio, riflettei e ho lasciato scritto.
	39 Tutte le opere del Signore sono buone, e ciascuna opera a suo tempo servirà a qualche cosa.
	40 Non si può dire: « Questa cosa è peggiore di quella », perchè tutte le cose a loro tempo saran trovate buone.
	41 Or voi con tutto il cuore e colla bocca lodate insieme e benedite il nome del Signore.
