Sirach 39

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Not so with one who concentrates his mind and his meditation on the Law of the Most High. Heresearches into the wisdom of al the Ancients, he occupies his time with the prophecies.	1 Differente è chi consacra se stesso a meditare nella legge dell'Altissimo. Ricerca la sapienza di tutti gli antichi e si occupa delle profezie.
2 He preserves the discourses of famous men, he is at home with the niceties of parables.	2 Conserva i detti degli uomini famosi e penetra la complessità delle parabole.
3 He researches into the hidden sense of proverbs, he ponders the obscurities of parables.	3 Cerca il senso nascosto dei proverbi ed è perspicace negli enigmi delle parabole.
4 He enters the service of princes, he is seen in the presence of rulers. He travels in foreign countries, hehas experienced human good and human evil.	4 In mezzo ai grandi offrirà i suoi servizi e starà alla presenza dei governanti; visiterà le terre dei popoli stranieri per provare il bene e il male fra gli uomini.
5 At dawn and with al his heart he turns to the Lord his Creator; he pleads in the presence of the MostHigh, he opens his mouth in prayer and makes entreaty for his sins.	5 Gli sta a cuore l'alzarsi presto per il Signore che l'ha fatto; davanti all'Altissimo farà la sua supplica, aprirà la sua bocca nella preghiera, implorerà per i suoi peccati.
6 If such be the wil of the great Lord, he wil be filled with the spirit of intel igence, he wil shower forthwords of wisdom, and in prayer give thanks to the Lord.	6 Se il Signore grande lo vuole, sarà riempito di spirito d'intelligenza; effonderà le parole della sua sapienza e nella preghiera ringrazierà il Signore.
7 He will grow upright in purpose and learning, he will ponder the Lord's hidden mysteries.	7 E' disposto a offrire consigli e conoscenza e riflette sulle cose nascoste già apprese;
8 He will display the instruction he has received, taking his pride in the Law of the Lord's covenant.	8 manifesta la dottrina imparata con lo studio e va fiero della legge dell'alleanza del Signore.
9 Many wil praise his intel igence and it wil never be forgotten. His memory will not disappear,generation after generation his name will live.	9 Molti loderanno la sua intelligenza, essa non sarà mai dimenticata; la sua memoria non sarà perduta e il suo nome vivrà per tutte le generazioni.
10 Nations wil proclaim his wisdom, the assembly will celebrate his praises.	10 I popoli parleranno della sua sapienza e l'assemblea canterà la sua lode.
11 If he lives long, his name will be more glorious than a thousand others, and if he dies, that wil satisfyhim just as wel .	11 Se vive a lungo lascerà, più che mille, un nome, e se muore, quanto ha fatto è sufficiente.
12 And here are some more of my reflections: yes, I am as ful as the moon at the ful !	12 Parlerò ancora delle mie riflessioni; io sono colmo come la luna piena.
13 Listen to me, devout children, and blossom like the rose that grows on the bank of a watercourse.	13 Ascoltatemi, o figli devoti, e fiorite, come rosa che nasce lungo un corso d'acqua.
14 Give off a sweet smel like incense, flower like the lily, spread your fragrance abroad, sing a song ofpraise blessing the Lord for all his works.	14 Mandate odore, fragrante come incenso, e fate spuntare i petali come il giglio; levate la voce e cantate insieme, lodate il Signore per tutte le sue opere.
15 Declare the greatness of his name, proclaim his praise with song and with lyre, and this is how youmust sing his praises:	15 Riconoscete la grandezza del suo nome, e ringraziatelo con la lode che gli spetta, con i canti delle labbra e con le arpe; dite così nel ringraziamento:
16 'How wonderful, the actions of the Lord! Whatever he orders is done at the proper time!' You must notsay, 'What is this? Why is that?' There is a proper time for every question.	16 Le opere del Signore son tutte molto belle, ogni suo comando si compie a suo tempo. Non deve dirsi: "Cos'è questo? Perché quello?", perché ogni cosa sarà riutilizzata a suo tempo.
17 At his word, the water stops and piles up high, at his voice, the watery reservoirs take shape,	17 Alla sua parola stette l'acqua come un cumulo, al cenno della sua bocca si formarono serbatoi d'acqua.
18 at his command, whatever he wants is done, no one can stop him, if he intends to save.	18 Quando comanda, si compie tutta la sua volontà, nessuno sminuisce la sua opera di salvezza.
19 He can see whatever human beings are doing, nothing can be hidden from his eye;	19 Le opere di ogni uomo sono davanti a lui, è impossibile nascondersi ai suoi occhi.
20 his gaze stretches from eternity to eternity, and nothing can astonish him.	20 Egli veglia dal principio alla fine del tempo, non c'è sorpresa alcuna al suo cospetto.
21 You must not say, 'What is this? Why is that?' for everything has been made for a purpose.	21 Non deve dirsi: "Cos'è questo? Perché quello?". Tutto è stato creato secondo il suo scopo.
22 As his blessing covers the dry land like a river and soaks it like a flood,	22 La sua benedizione ricopre come un fiume, e inonda l'asciutto come un diluvio.
23 so retribution is his legacy to the nations, just as he has turned fresh waters to salt.	23 La sua ira s'abbatterà sui popoli, così come ha mutato le acque in salsedine.
24 His ways are as smooth for the devout, as they are ful of obstacles for the wicked.	24 Le sue vie sono diritte per i devoti, ma sono un inciampo per gli empi.
25 Good things were created from the beginning for good people, as bad ones were for sinners.	25 I beni furono creati all'inizio per i buoni, così le cose cattive per i peccatori.
26 The prime needs of human beings for living are water and fire, iron and salt, wheat-flour, milk andhoney, the juice of the grape, oil and clothing.	26 L'essenziale che occorre per la vita dell'uomo: acqua, fuoco, ferro, sale, farina di frumento, latte, miele, sangue d'uva, olio e vestito.
27 Al these are good for those who are good, but turn out bad for sinners.	27 Tutte queste cose sono un bene per i buoni, ma si volgono in male per i peccatori.
28 Some winds have been created for punishing, in his fury, he uses them as scourges; on the day ofdoom, they unleash their violence and appease the wrath of their Creator.	28 Ci sono venti che sono stati creati per la vendetta, nella loro furia rafforzano i loro flagelli; al tempo della fine riversano la loro violenza e calmano il furore di chi li ha fatti.
29 Fire and hail, famine and death, have al been created for punishing.	29 Fuoco e grandine, carestia e morte: tutte queste cose sono state create per la vendetta.
30 Wild animals' fangs, scorpions, vipers, the avenging sword for the ruin of the godless:	30 I denti delle bestie, gli scorpioni e le vipere, la spada che ripaga gli empi e li distrugge:
31 all of them exult in discharging his orders, ready on earth whenever the need arises and, when theirtime comes, not fal ing short of his word.	31 si rallegrano quando lui li comanda, stanno pronti sulla terra secondo il bisogno e al momento giusto eseguono la sua parola.
32 That is why I was determined from the outset, why I have pondered and why I have written,	32 Perciò dall'inizio ho avuto questa convinzione, vi ho riflettuto e l'ho messa per iscritto:
33 'The works of the Lord are all good, when the time is right, he gives whatever is needed.	33 le opere del Signore sono tutte buone, egli provvede a suo tempo ad ogni necessità.
34 You must not say, "This is worse than that," for, sooner or later, everything proves its worth.	34 Non deve dirsi: "Questo è peggiore di quello", perché tutto risulterà giusto a suo tempo.
35 So now, sing with al your heart and voice, and bless the name of the Lord!'	35 Ed ora inneggiate con tutto il cuore e con la bocca, e benedite il nome del Signore.
