Sirach 33

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 No evil wil befal one who fears the Lord, such a one will be rescued even in the ordeal.	1 Chi teme il Signore non incorre in alcun male, ma nella prova sarà ancora liberato.
2 No one who hates the Law is wise, one who is hypocritical about it is like a storm-tossed ship.	2 Un uomo saggio non detesta la legge, ma chi finge con essa è come nave in tempesta.
3 An intelligent person will put faith in the Law, for such a one the Law is as dependable as a prophecy.	3 L’uomo assennato ha fiducia nella legge, per lui è degna di fede come un oracolo.
4 Prepare what you have to say and you will get a hearing, marshal your information before you answer.	4 Prepara il tuo discorso e così sarai ascoltato, raccogli il tuo insegnamento e poi rispondi.
5 The feelings of a fool are like a cart-wheel, a fool's thought revolves like a turning axle.	5 Ruota di carro è il sentimento dello stolto, il suo ragionamento è come l’asse che gira.
6 A rutting stal ion is like a sarcastic friend; he neighs, whoever rides him.	6 Un amico beffardo è come uno stallone, nitrisce sotto chiunque lo cavalca.
7 Why is one day better than another, though the sun gives the same daylight throughout the year?	7 Perché un giorno è più importante d’un altro, se tutta la luce dell’anno viene dal sole?
8 They have been differentiated in the mind of the Lord, who has diversified the seasons and feasts;	8 È perché sono stati distinti nel pensiero del Signore, che ha diversificato le stagioni e le feste.
9 some he has made more important and has hal owed, others he has made ordinary days.	9 Ha esaltato e santificato alcuni, altri li ha lasciati nel numero dei giorni ordinari.
10 Human beings come from the ground, Adam himself was formed out of earth;	10 Anche gli uomini provengono tutti dalla polvere e dalla terra fu creato Adamo.
11 in the fullness of his wisdom the Lord has made distinctions between them, and diversified theirconditions.	11 Ma il Signore li ha distinti nella sua grande sapienza, ha diversificato le loro vie.
12 Some of them he has blessed, hal owing and setting them near him; others he has cursed andhumiliated by degrading them from their positions.	12 Ha benedetto ed esaltato alcuni, altri ha santificato e avvicinato a sé; altri ha maledetto e umiliato e ha rovesciato dalle loro posizioni.
13 Like clay in the hands of the potter to mould as it pleases him, so are human beings in the hands oftheir Maker to reward as he judges right.	13 Come argilla nelle mani del vasaio che la modella a suo piacimento, così gli uomini nelle mani di colui che li ha creati e li ricompensa secondo il suo giudizio.
14 Opposite evil stands good, opposite death, life; so too opposite the devout stands the sinner.	14 Di fronte al male c’è il bene, di fronte alla morte c’è la vita; così di fronte all’uomo pio c’è il peccatore.
15 Contemplate al the works of the Most High, you wil find they go in pairs, by opposites.	15 Considera perciò tutte le opere dell’Altissimo: a due a due, una di fronte all’altra.
16 Although the last to come, I have kept my eyes open like a man picking up what the grape-pickershave left.	16 Anch’io, venuto per ultimo, mi sono tenuto desto, come uno che racimola dietro i vendemmiatori:
17 By the blessing of the Lord I have come in first, and like a true grape-picker have fil ed my winepress.	17 con la benedizione del Signore sono giunto per primo, come un vendemmiatore ho riempito il tino.
18 And note, I have not been working merely for myself, but for al who seek instruction.	18 Badate che non ho faticato solo per me, ma per tutti quelli che ricercano l’istruzione.
19 Listen to me, important public figures, presidents of the assembly, give ear!	19 Ascoltatemi, o grandi del popolo, e voi che dirigete le assemblee, fate attenzione.
20 Neither to son nor wife, brother nor friend, give power over yourself during your own lifetime. And donot give your property to anyone else, in case you regret it and have to ask for it back.	20 Al figlio e alla moglie, al fratello e all’amico non dare un potere su di te finché sei in vita. Non dare ad altri le tue ricchezze, perché poi non ti penta e debba richiederle.
21 As long as you live and there is breath in your body, do not yield power over yourself to anyone;	21 Finché vivi e in te c’è respiro, non abbandonarti al potere di nessuno.
22 better for your children to come begging to you, than for you to have to go begging to them.	22 È meglio che i figli chiedano a te, piuttosto che tu debba volgere lo sguardo alle loro mani.
23 In al you do be the master, and leave a reputation unstained.	23 In tutte le tue opere mantieni la tua autorità e non macchiare la tua dignità.
24 The day your life draws to a close, at the hour of death, then distribute your heritage.	24 Quando finiranno i giorni della tua vita, al momento della morte, assegna la tua eredità.
25 Fodder, the stick and burdens for a donkey, bread, discipline and work for a slave.	25 Foraggio, bastone e pesi per l’asino; pane, disciplina e lavoro per lo schiavo.
26 Work your slave hard, and you wil have peace of mind, leave his hands idle, and he wil be asking forhis freedom.	26 Fa’ lavorare il tuo servo e starai in pace, lasciagli libere le mani e cercherà la libertà.
27 Yoke and harness wil bow the neck, for a bad servant, torments and the rack.	27 Giogo e redini piegano il collo, per lo schiavo malvagio torture e castighi.
28 Set him to work, so that he will not be idle; idleness teaches every kind of mischief.	28 Mettilo a lavorare perché non stia in ozio,
29 Keep him at his duties, where he should be, if he is disobedient, clap him in irons.	29 perché l’ozio insegna molte cose cattive.
30 But do not be over-exacting with anyone, and do nothing contrary to justice.	30 Mettilo all’opera come gli conviene, e se non obbedisce, stringigli i ceppi. Ma non esagerare con nessuno e non fare nulla contro la giustizia.
31 You have only one slave? Treat him like yourself, since you have acquired him with blood.	31 Se hai uno schiavo, sia come te stesso, perché l’hai acquistato a prezzo di sangue. Se hai uno schiavo, trattalo come un fratello, perché ne avrai bisogno come di te stesso.
32 You have only one slave? Treat him as a brother, since you need him as you need yourself.	32 Se tu lo maltratti ed egli fuggirà,
33 If you ill-treat him and he runs away, which way wil you go to look for him?	33 in quale strada andrai a ricercarlo?
