Sirach 28

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Whoever exacts vengeance wil experience the vengeance of the Lord, who keeps strict account of sin.	1 El hombre vengativo sufrirá la venganza del Señor, que llevará cuenta exacta de todos sus pecados.
2 Pardon your neighbour any wrongs done to you, and when you pray, your sins will be forgiven.	2 Perdona el agravio a tu prójimo y entonces, cuando ores, serán absueltos tus pecados.
3 If anyone nurses anger against another, can one then demand compassion from the Lord?	3 Si un hombre mantiene su enojo contra otro, ¿cómo pretende que el Señor lo sane?
4 Showing no pity for someone like oneself, can one then plead for one's own sins?	4 No tiene piedad de un hombre semejante a él ¡y se atreve a implorar por sus pecados!
5 Mere creature of flesh, yet cherishing resentment!-who wil forgive one for sinning?	5 El, un simple mortal, guarda rencor: ¿quién le perdonará sus pecados?
6 Remember the last things, and stop hating, corruption and death, and be faithful to the commandments.	6 Acuérdate del fin, y deja de odiar; piensa en la corrupción y en la muerte, y sé fiel a los mandamientos;
7 Remember the commandments, and do not bear your fel ow il -wil , remember the covenant of the MostHigh, and ignore the offence.	7 acuérdate de los mandamientos, y no guardes rencor a tu prójimo; piensa en la Alianza del Altísimo, y pasa por alto la ofensa.
8 Avoid quarrel ing and you wil sin less; for the hot-tempered provokes quarrels,	8 Evita los altercados y pecarás mucho menos, porque el hombre iracundo enciende las disputas.
9 a sinner sows trouble between friends, introducing discord among the peaceful.	9 El pecador siembra la confusión entre los amigos y crea división entre los que vivían en paz.
10 The way a fire burns depends on its fuel, a quarrel spreads in proportion to its violence; a man's ragedepends on his strength, his fury grows fiercer in proportion to his wealth.	10 El fuego arde según el combustible, y la disputa se enciende en la medida del empecinamiento; según sea su fuerza, será la furia de un hombre, y según su riqueza, dará libre curso a su ira.
11 A sudden quarrel kindles fire, a hasty dispute leads to bloodshed.	11 Una discordia repentina enciende un fuego, y una disputa precipitada hace correr la sangre.
12 Blow on a spark and up it flares, spit on it and out it goes; both are the effects of your mouth.	12 Si soplas una chispa, se inflama; si le escupes encima, se extingue, y ambas cosas salen de tu boca.
13 A curse on the scandal-monger and double-talker, such a person has ruined many who lived inconcord.	13 Maldice al murmurador y al de lengua doble: ellos han arruinado a mucha gente que vivía en paz.
14 That third tongue has shattered the peace of many and driven them from nation to nation; it has pul eddown fortified cities, and overthrown the houses of the great.	14 La lengua triple ha hecho tambalear a muchos y los dispersó de nación en nación; ella arrasó ciudades fortificadas y echó por tierra casas de potentados;
15 The third tongue has had upright wives divorced, depriving them of reward for their hard work.	15 hizo repudiar a mujeres valerosas y las privó del fruto de sus trabajos.
16 No one who listens to it wil ever know peace of mind, wil ever live in peace again.	16 El que le presta atención, no encuentra más descanso y ya no puede vivir en paz.
17 A stroke of the whip raises a weal, but a stroke of the tongue breaks bones.	17 Un golpe de látigo deja una marca, pero un golpe de lengua quiebra los huesos.
18 Many have fal en by the edge of the sword, but many more have fal en by the tongue.	18 Muchos han caído al filo de la espada, pero son menos que los caídos a causa de la lengua.
19 Blessed is anyone who has been sheltered from it, and has not experienced its fury, who has notdragged its yoke about, or been bound in its chains;	19 ¡Feliz el que está al resguardo de ella y no ha quedado expuesto a su furor, el que no ha tirado de su yugo ni ha sido atado a tus cadenas!
20 for its yoke is an iron yoke, its chains are bronze chains;	20 Porque su yugo es un yugo de hierro y sus cadenas son cadenas de bronce.
21 the death it inflicts is a miserable death, Sheol is preferable to it.	21 ¡Muerte funesta es la que inflige y es preferible el Abismo a una lengua así!
22 It cannot gain a hold over the devout, they are not burnt by its flames.	22 Pero ella no tiene poder sobre los hombres buenos y ellos no se quemarán en sus llamas.
23 Those who desert the Lord wil fal into it, it wil flare up inextinguishably among them, it wil be letloose against them like a lion, it wil tear them like a leopard.	23 Los que abandonan al Señor serán sus víctimas: ella los abrasará sin extinguirse, se lanzará sobre ellos como un león y los destrozará como una pantera.
24 Be sure you put a thorn-hedge round your property, lock away your silver and gold;	24 Por eso, rodea tu posesión con un cerco de espinas, guarda bien tu plata y tu oro;
25 then make scales and weights for your words, and put a door with bolts across your mouth.	25 fabrícate una balanza y una pesa para tus palabras, y una puerta y un cerrojo para tu boca.
26 Take care you take no false step through it, in case you fal a prey to him who lies in wait.	26 Presta atención, se sea que resbales a causa de la lengua y caigas ante los que acechan.
