1 My child, have you sinned? Do so no more, and ask forgiveness for your previous faults.	1 Figliuolo, hai tu peccato? non peccar più: ma fa anche orazione per le colpe passate, affinchè ti sian rimesse.
2 Flee from sin as from a snake, if you approach it, it wil bite you; its teeth are lion's teeth, they takehuman life away.	2 Come della faccia di un serpente, cosi fuggi dal peccato, perché se a lui ti accosterai, ti morderà.
3 Al law-breaking is like a two-edged sword, the wounds it inflicts are beyond cure.	3 I suoi denti sono denti di leone, che uccidono le anime degli uomini.
4 Terror and violence make havoc of riches, similarly, desolation overtakes the houses of the proud.	4 Ogni colpa è come una spada a due tagli: le sue ferite sono insanabili.
5 A plea from the mouth of the poor goes straight to the ear of God, whose judgement comes withoutdelay.	5 L'arroganza, e gli oltraggi man dano in fumo le ricchezze: e la casa più facoltosa si spianterà per la superbia; cosi i beni del superbo saranno annichilati.
6 Whoever resents reproof walks in the sinner's footsteps; whoever fears the Lord is repentant of heart.	6 Dalla bocca del povero la preghiera giungerà fino alle orecchie di Dio, e tosto sarà a lui renduta giustizia.
7 The glib speaker is known far and wide, but the wary detects every slip.	7 L'odiare la correzione è indizio di uom peccatore; ma chi teme Dio rientrerà in se stesso.
8 To build your house with other people's money is like collecting stones for your own tomb.	8 Il potente si fa conoscere da lungi coll'audacia della lingua; ma l'uom sensato sa schivarlo.
9 A meeting of the lawless is like a heap of tow: they wil end in a blazing fire.	9 Chi la propria casa edifica a spese altrui, è come chi le sue pietre mette insieme per fabbricare nell'inverno.
10 The sinner's road is smoothly paved, but it ends at the pit of Sheol.	10 La sinagoga de' peccatori è una massa di stoppa, e la loro fine è il fuoco ardente.
11 Whoever keeps the Law wil master his instincts; the fear of the Lord is made perfect in wisdom.	11 La via de' peccatori è lastricata di pietre lisce, ma ella va a finire nell'inferno, nelle tenebre, e ne' tormenti.
12 No one who lacks aptitude can be taught, but certain aptitudes give rise to bitterness.	12 Chi custodisce la giustizia, ne comprende lo spirito.
13 The sage's knowledge is as rich as the abyss and his advice is like a living spring.	13 La perfezione del timore di Dio è saggezza, e intelligenza.
14 The heart of a fool is like a broken jar, it will not hold any knowledge.	14 Chi non è saggio nel bene, non farà acquisto di scienza.
15 If the educated hears a wise saying, he praises it and caps it with another; if a debauchee hears it, hedoes not like it and tosses it behind his back.	15 E v'ha una saggezza feconda di male; ma dov' è malizia, non v'è la prudenza.
16 The talk of a fool is like a load on a journey, but it is a pleasure to listen to the intelligent.	16 La scienza del saggio si spande, come una piena d'acque; e i suoi consigli son come una fonte perenne di vita.
17 The utterance of the shrewd wil be eagerly awaited in the assembly, what he says wil be givenserious consideration.	17 Il cuore dell'insensato è come un vaso rotto: ei non può ritenere nissuna parte di saggezza.
18 The wisdom of a fool is like the wreckage of a house, the knowledge of a dolt is incoherent talk.	18 Qualunque buona parola, che ascolti l'uom saggio, la loderà, e se la applicherà: la ascolterà un uom dato al piacere, e gli dispiacerà, e se la getterà dietro alle spalle.
19 To the senseless fel ow instruction is like fetters on the feet, like manacles on the right hand.	19 I discorsi dello stolto son come un fardello per viaggio; ma sulle labbra dell'uom sensato si trova la grazia.
20 A fool laughs at the top of his voice, but the intel igent quietly smiles.	20 La bocca dell'nom prudente è desiderata nelle adunanze, e le parole di lui ciascuno le medita in cuor suo.
21 To the shrewd instruction is like a golden ornament, like a bracelet on the right arm.	21 La saggezza è per lo stolto come una casa in rovina, e la scienza dell'insensato consiste in parole inintelligibili.
22 The step of a fool goes straight into a house, but a person of much experience makes a respectfulapproach;	22 La scienza è per lo stolto come ceppi a' piedi, e come catene alla sua destra mano.
23 the stupid peeps inside through the door, a well-bred person waits outside.	23 Il fatuo se ride, alza la voce; ma l'uomo saggio appena sorrìde senza rumore.
24 Listening at doors is a sign of bad upbringing, the perceptive would be ashamed to do so.	24 La scienza è all'uom prudente un ornamento di oro, e come un braccia letto alla mano destra.
25 The lips of gossips repeat the words of others, the words of the wise are careful y weighed.	25 Lo stolto mette facilmente il pie in casa d'altri, ma l'uomo, che ha sperienza, si vergogna in faccia dei grandi.
26 The heart of fools is in their mouth, but the mouth of the wise is in their heart.	26 Lo stolto guarda nella casa per la finestra; ma l'uom discreto se ne sta di fuori.
27 When the godless curses Satan, he is cursing himself.	27 E cosa da stolto lo stare a origliare alla porta: e l'uom prudente non sopporterà simile infamia.
28 The scandal-monger sul ies himself and earns the hatred of the neighbourhood.	28 Le labbra degli imprudenti raccontano cose assurde: ma le parole de' saggi saran pesate sulla bilancia.
	29 Il cuor degli stolti è nella loro bocca: e la bocca de' saggj è nel cuor loro.
	30 Quando l'empio maledice il diavolo, maledice l'anima propria.
	31 Il detrattore contamina l'anima propria, e dapertutto sarà odiato, e chi converserà con lui sarà mal visto: ma l'uomo, che sa tacere; ed ha prudenza, sarà onorato.
