Proverbs 11

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 A false balance is abhorrent to Yahweh, a just weight is pleasing to him.	1 La bilancia falsa è in abominio davanti al Signore, gli piace il peso giusto.
2 Pride comes first; disgrace soon fol ows; with the humble is wisdom found.	2 Dove sarà la superbia vi sarà anche lo smacco, e dove l'umiltà anche la sapienza.
3 The honest have their own honesty for guidance, the treacherous are ruined by their own perfidy.	3 La semplicità dei giusti sarà loro guida, la doppiezza dei malvagi sarà la loro perdizione.
4 In the day of retribution riches wil be useless, but uprightness delivers from death.	4 A nulla gioveranno le ricchezze nel giorno dell'ira, ma la giustizia libererà dalla morte.
5 The uprightness of the good makes their way straight, the wicked fal by their own wickedness.	5 La giustizia dell'uomo retto ne appiana la via, l'empio cadrà per la sua empietà.
6 Their uprightness sets the honest free, the treacherous are imprisoned by their own desires.	6 La giustizia degli uomini onesti li salverà, e gli iniqui resteran presi nei loro inganni.
7 The hope of the wicked perishes with death, hope placed in riches comes to nothing.	7 Morto che sia, l'empio non avrà più speranza, e l'attesa degli ambiziosi sarà delusa,
8 The upright escapes affliction, the wicked incurs it instead.	8 Il giusto è liberato dall'angustia, e in suo luogo sarà consegnato l'empio.
9 Through his mouth the godless is the ruin of his neighbour, but by knowledge the upright aresafeguarded.	9 L'ipocrita colla bocca inganna il suo amico, ma i giusti saran liberati dalla scienza.
10 When the upright prosper the city rejoices, when the wicked are ruined there is a shout of joy.	10 La città farà festa per la prosperità dei giusti e manderà grida di giubilo per la perdizione degli empi.
11 A city is raised on the blessing of the honest, and demolished by the mouth of the wicked.	11 La città sarà esaltata dalla benedizione dei giusti, sarà mandata in rovina dalla bocca degli empi.
12 Whoever looks down on a neighbour lacks good sense; the intelligent keeps a check on the tongue.	12 Chi disprezza l'amico non ha cuore: l'uomo prudente tace.
13 A tittle-tattler lets secrets out, the trustworthy keeps things hidden.	13 Chi procede con inganno rivela i segreti, ma chi è d'animo fedele tiene segreto ciò che l'amico gli ha confidato.
14 For want of leadership a people perishes, safety lies in many advisers.	14 Quando manca un governo il popolo andrà in rovina, la salvezza sta nell'aver molti consigli.
15 Whoever goes bail for a stranger does himself harm, but one who shuns going surety is safe.	15 Si troverà male chi si fa mallevadore per uno straniero, chi si guarda dai lacci sarà sicuro.
16 A gracious woman acquires honour, violent people acquire wealth.	16 La donna graziosa troverà omaggi, e i forti avran ricchezze.
17 Faithful love brings its own reward, the inflexible injure their own selves.	17 L'uomo misericordioso fa del bene all'anima sua, ma il crudele caccia anche i più stretti parenti.
18 Disappointment crowns the labours of the wicked, whoever sows uprightness reaps a solid reward.	18 L'empio fa opera che non dura, ma chi semina giustizia ha sicura ricompensa.
19 Whoever establishes uprightness is on the way to life, whoever pursues evil, on the way to death.	19 La clemenza prepara la vita; l'andar dietro al male, la morte.
20 Tortuous hearts are abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him, those whose ways are blameless.	20 Dio ha in abominio il cuore perverso, e mette le sue compiacenze in quelli che procedono con rettitudine.
21 Be sure of it, the wicked wil not go unpunished, but the race of the upright wil come to no harm.	21 Anche colle mani in mano non andrà impunito il perverso, ma la stirpe dei giusti sarà salvata.
22 A golden ring in the snout of a pig is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.	22 Anello d'oro nel grifo d'una troia è una donna bella e stolta.
23 The hope of the upright is nothing but good, the expectation of the wicked is retribution.	23 Il desiderio dei giusti è ogni bene, l'attesa degli empi è l'ira.
24 One scatters money around, yet only adds to his wealth, another is excessively mean, but only growsthe poorer.	24 Alcuni fan parte di quello che hanno e diventan più ricchi, altri rubano l'altrui e son sempre in miseria.
25 The soul who blesses wil prosper, whoever satisfies others wil also be satisfied.	25 L'anima benefica sarà nell'abbondanza, e chi inebria sarà inebriato.
26 The people's curse is on those who hoard the wheat, their blessing on the head of those who sel it.	26 Chi nasconde il grano sarà maledetto dai popoli, le benedizioni fioccheran sul capo di chi lo vende.
27 Whoever strives for good obtains favour, whoever looks for evil wil get an evil return.	27 Con ragione si alza di buon mattino chi cerca il bene, ma chi cerca di fare il male resterà schiacciato.
28 Whoever trusts in riches wil have a fal , the upright wil flourish like the leaves.	28 Chi confida nelle sue ricchezze cadrà, e i giusti fioriranno come verde fronda.
29 Whoever misgoverns a house inherits the wind, and the fool becomes slave to the wise.	29 Chi mette in scompiglio la sua casa erediterà del vento, e lo stolto servirà al sapiente.
30 The fruit of the upright is a tree of life: the sage captivates souls.	30 Il frutto del giusto è albero di vita, e chi si prende cura delle anime è sapiente.
31 If here on earth the upright gets due reward, how much more the wicked and the sinner!	31 Se il giusto sulla terra ha (la sua pena), quanto più l'empio e il peccatore?
