Proverbs 11

1 A false balance is abhorrent to Yahweh, a just weight is pleasing to him.	1 E in abbominazione dinanzi al Signore la stadera falsa; la giusta bilancia a lui è accetta.
2 Pride comes first; disgrace soon fol ows; with the humble is wisdom found.	2 Dove sarà la superbia, ivi sarà anche lo scorno: e dove è umiltà, ivi è la saggezza.
3 The honest have their own honesty for guidance, the treacherous are ruined by their own perfidy.	3 La semplicità de' giusti sarà la loro bussola, la doppiezza de' malvaggj sarà la loro perdizione.
4 In the day of retribution riches wil be useless, but uprightness delivers from death.	4 Non faranno alcun prò le ricchezze al giorno della vendetta; ma la giustizia salverà da morte.
5 The uprightness of the good makes their way straight, the wicked fal by their own wickedness.	5 La giustizia dell'uomo semplice governerà i suoi passi; e l'empio pella sua empietà darà in precipizi.
6 Their uprightness sets the honest free, the treacherous are imprisoned by their own desires.	6 La giustizia degli uomini dabbene li salverà, e gli iniqui saran presi alle loro trappole.
7 The hope of the wicked perishes with death, hope placed in riches comes to nothing.	7 All'empio, morto che è, non riman più speranza, e l'espettazione degli ambiziosi va in fumo.
8 The upright escapes affliction, the wicked incurs it instead.	8 Il giusto è liberato dall'affanno, e vi è messo l'empio in suo luogo.
9 Through his mouth the godless is the ruin of his neighbour, but by knowledge the upright aresafeguarded.	9 Il simulatore inganna con sue parole l'amico: ma la scienza de' giusti li libererà.
10 When the upright prosper the city rejoices, when the wicked are ruined there is a shout of joy.	10 La città farà festa delle prosperità dei giusti, e inni si canteranno nella perdizione degli empj.
11 A city is raised on the blessing of the honest, and demolished by the mouth of the wicked.	11 La benedizione de' giusti ingrandirà la città; ma la bocca dell'empio la rovinerà.
12 Whoever looks down on a neighbour lacks good sense; the intelligent keeps a check on the tongue.	12 Chi parla male del suo amico manca di cuore: ma l'uomo prudente si tacerà.
13 A tittle-tattler lets secrets out, the trustworthy keeps things hidden.	13 Colui, che cammina con doppiezza, rivela i segreti, ma chi è di animo fedele tiene segreto quel, che l'amico gli ha confidato.
14 For want of leadership a people perishes, safety lies in many advisers.	14 Dove non è chi governi, il popolo anderà in rovina; dove i consigli abbondano, ivi è salute.
15 Whoever goes bail for a stranger does himself harm, but one who shuns going surety is safe.	15 Patirà disastro chi entra malleva dore per uno straniero; chi sa guardarsi dai lacci sarà senza timori.
16 A gracious woman acquires honour, violent people acquire wealth.	16 La donna graziosa farà acquisto di gloria, e gli uomini di valore otterranno ricchezze.
17 Faithful love brings its own reward, the inflexible injure their own selves.	17 L'uomo misericordioso fa del bene all'anima sua; ma colui, che è crudele rigetta anche i parenti prossimi.
18 Disappointment crowns the labours of the wicked, whoever sows uprightness reaps a solid reward.	18 L'empio fa lavoro, che non sussiste; ma colui, che sparge semenza di giustizia, ha stabile ricompensa.
19 Whoever establishes uprightness is on the way to life, whoever pursues evil, on the way to death.	19 La clemenza è strada alla vita, e l'affetto al male (è strada) alla morte.
20 Tortuous hearts are abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him, those whose ways are blameless.	20 E in abbominio al Signore il cuore perverso, e si compiace di quelli, che camminano con ischiettezza.
21 Be sure of it, the wicked wil not go unpunished, but the race of the upright wil come to no harm.	21 L'uomo malvaggio con tutta la sua sequela non sarà impunito; ma la stirpe de' giusti avrà salute.
22 A golden ring in the snout of a pig is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.	22 La bellezza in donna stolta è un cerchio d'oro messo al muso di una troja.
23 The hope of the upright is nothing but good, the expectation of the wicked is retribution.	23 La brama de' giusti tende a tutto il bene; gli empj non agognano ad altro, che a infuriare.
24 One scatters money around, yet only adds to his wealth, another is excessively mean, but only growsthe poorer.	24 Altri fanno parte di quello, che hanno, e diventan più ricchi; altri rapiscono l'altrui, e son sempre in miseria.
25 The soul who blesses wil prosper, whoever satisfies others wil also be satisfied.	25 L'anima benefica sarà impinguata, e colui, che esilara gli altri, sarà egli pure esilarato.
26 The people's curse is on those who hoard the wheat, their blessing on the head of those who sel it.	26 Colui che nasconde il grano sarà maledetto dai popoli; e la benedizione poserà sul capo di quei, che lo vendono.
27 Whoever strives for good obtains favour, whoever looks for evil wil get an evil return.	27 Col buon prò si alza di buon mattino colui che cerca il bene; ma colui che studia di far delle male cose, vi resterà alla stiaccia.
28 Whoever trusts in riches wil have a fal , the upright wil flourish like the leaves.	28 Colui che si affida alle sue ricchezze anderà per terra; ma i giusti fioriranno com'albero di verde foglia.
29 Whoever misgoverns a house inherits the wind, and the fool becomes slave to the wise.	29 Colui che mette in iscompiglio la propria casa rederà del vento, e lo stolto servirà all'uomo sapiente.
30 The fruit of the upright is a tree of life: the sage captivates souls.	30 Il giusto ne' suoi frutti è l'albero di vita, e colui che fa guadagno di anime è sapiente.
31 If here on earth the upright gets due reward, how much more the wicked and the sinner!	31 Se il giusto sulla terra ha sua pena, quanto più l'empio, ed il peccatore?
