Proverbs 11

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 A false balance is abhorrent to Yahweh, a just weight is pleasing to him.	1 El Señor aborrece las balanzas falseadas, pero le agradan las pesas exactas.
2 Pride comes first; disgrace soon fol ows; with the humble is wisdom found.	2 Junto con la arrogancia llega la ignominia, pero la sabiduría está con los humildes.
3 The honest have their own honesty for guidance, the treacherous are ruined by their own perfidy.	3 La integridad guía a los hombres rectos, pero la perversidad arruina a los traidores.
4 In the day of retribution riches wil be useless, but uprightness delivers from death.	4 La fortuna no sirve de nada en el día de la ira, pero la justicia libra de la muerte.
5 The uprightness of the good makes their way straight, the wicked fal by their own wickedness.	5 La justicia del hombre íntegro allana su camino, pero el malvado cae por su maldad.
6 Their uprightness sets the honest free, the treacherous are imprisoned by their own desires.	6 La justicia libra a los hombres rectos, pero los traidores quedan atrapados por su avidez.
7 The hope of the wicked perishes with death, hope placed in riches comes to nothing.	7 Cuando muere el malvado, se desvanece toda esperanza y se esfuma la confianza puesta en las riquezas.
8 The upright escapes affliction, the wicked incurs it instead.	8 El justo es librado del peligro y en lugar de él cae el malvado.
9 Through his mouth the godless is the ruin of his neighbour, but by knowledge the upright aresafeguarded.	9 El impío arruina al prójimo con su boca, pero los justos se salvan por su experiencia.
10 When the upright prosper the city rejoices, when the wicked are ruined there is a shout of joy.	10 Cuando los justos son felices, se alegra la ciudad, cuando perecen los malvados, se oyen gritos de alegría.
11 A city is raised on the blessing of the honest, and demolished by the mouth of the wicked.	11 Con la bendición de los hombres rectos se levanta una ciudad, la boca de los malvados la destruye.
12 Whoever looks down on a neighbour lacks good sense; the intelligent keeps a check on the tongue.	12 El que desprecia a su prójimo es un insensato, y el hombre inteligente sabe callar.
13 A tittle-tattler lets secrets out, the trustworthy keeps things hidden.	13 El chismoso revela los secretos, pero el hombre fiel guarda la debida reserva.
14 For want of leadership a people perishes, safety lies in many advisers.	14 Por falta de gobierno un pueblo se hunde, pero se salva si hay muchos hombres de consejo.
15 Whoever goes bail for a stranger does himself harm, but one who shuns going surety is safe.	15 El que sale fiador de otro la pasa muy mal, el que evita las fianzas está seguro.
16 A gracious woman acquires honour, violent people acquire wealth.	16 Una mujer agraciada obtiene la gloria, y los audaces obtienen la riqueza.
17 Faithful love brings its own reward, the inflexible injure their own selves.	17 El hombre fiel se hace bien a sí mismo, pero el cruel atormenta su propia carne.
18 Disappointment crowns the labours of the wicked, whoever sows uprightness reaps a solid reward.	18 El malvado obtiene un salario engañoso, y el que siembra justicia, una recompensa segura.
19 Whoever establishes uprightness is on the way to life, whoever pursues evil, on the way to death.	19 Así como la justicia conduce a la vida, el que va detrás del mal camina hacia la muerte.
20 Tortuous hearts are abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him, those whose ways are blameless.	20 Los corazones tortuosos son abominables para el Señor, pero los que caminan con integridad gozan de su favor.
21 Be sure of it, the wicked wil not go unpunished, but the race of the upright wil come to no harm.	21 Tarde o temprano, el malo no quedará impune, pero la descendencia de los justos se salvará.
22 A golden ring in the snout of a pig is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.	22 Anillo de oro en la trompa de un cerdo es la mujer hermosa pero falta de juicio.
23 The hope of the upright is nothing but good, the expectation of the wicked is retribution.	23 Los justos no desean más que el bien, y los malvados sólo pueden esperar el furor.
24 One scatters money around, yet only adds to his wealth, another is excessively mean, but only growsthe poorer.	24 Uno da generosamente y acrecienta su haber, otro ahorra más de la cuenta y acaba en la indigencia.
25 The soul who blesses wil prosper, whoever satisfies others wil also be satisfied.	25 El hombre generoso prosperará, y al que da de beber le saciarán la sed.
26 The people's curse is on those who hoard the wheat, their blessing on the head of those who sel it.	26 El pueblo maldice al que acapara el trigo, pero cubre de bendiciones al que lo vende.
27 Whoever strives for good obtains favour, whoever looks for evil wil get an evil return.	27 El que busca ardientemente el bien se gana el favor, pero al que busca el mal, el mal lo alcanzará.
28 Whoever trusts in riches wil have a fal , the upright wil flourish like the leaves.	28 El que confía en su riqueza se marchita, pero los justos crecerán como el follaje.
29 Whoever misgoverns a house inherits the wind, and the fool becomes slave to the wise.	29 El que perturba su propia casa heredará viento, y el necio será esclavo del sabio.
30 The fruit of the upright is a tree of life: the sage captivates souls.	30 El fruto de la justicia es árbol de vida, y el sabio cautiva los corazones.
31 If here on earth the upright gets due reward, how much more the wicked and the sinner!	31 Si el justo es retribuido en la tierra, ¡cuánto más el malvado y el pecador!
