Proverbs 11

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 A false balance is abhorrent to Yahweh, a just weight is pleasing to him.	1 Una bilancia falsa è un obbrobrio per il Signore, un peso esatto invece è il suo diletto.
2 Pride comes first; disgrace soon fol ows; with the humble is wisdom found.	2 Dove c'è orgoglio c'è anche il disonore, con gli umili invece c'è la saggezza.
3 The honest have their own honesty for guidance, the treacherous are ruined by their own perfidy.	3 La loro integrità conduce i giusti, ma la perversità rovina i perfidi.
4 In the day of retribution riches wil be useless, but uprightness delivers from death.	4 Non giova la ricchezza nel giorno della collera, invece la giustizia libera dalla morte.
5 The uprightness of the good makes their way straight, the wicked fal by their own wickedness.	5 La giustizia spiana la via all'uomo integro, ma l'empio cade nella sua empietà.
6 Their uprightness sets the honest free, the treacherous are imprisoned by their own desires.	6 La propria giustizia salva gli uomini retti, ma nella loro brama son presi i perfidi.
7 The hope of the wicked perishes with death, hope placed in riches comes to nothing.	7 Con la morte dell'empio finisce la sua speranza, l'attesa dei perversi è annientata.
8 The upright escapes affliction, the wicked incurs it instead.	8 Il giusto è liberato dall'angoscia, l'empio invece vi cade al suo posto.
9 Through his mouth the godless is the ruin of his neighbour, but by knowledge the upright aresafeguarded.	9 Con la sua bocca l'empio manda in rovina il prossimo, ma con la scienza i giusti si districano.
10 When the upright prosper the city rejoices, when the wicked are ruined there is a shout of joy.	10 Per il benessere dei giusti la città gioisce, ma per la rovina degli empi manda grida di giubilo.
11 A city is raised on the blessing of the honest, and demolished by the mouth of the wicked.	11 Per la benedizione degli uomini retti una città prospera, ma per la bocca degli empi va in rovina.
12 Whoever looks down on a neighbour lacks good sense; the intelligent keeps a check on the tongue.	12 Chi disprezza il prossimo è povero di senno, l'uomo intelligente invece sa tacere.
13 A tittle-tattler lets secrets out, the trustworthy keeps things hidden.	13 Chi va gironzolando svela i suoi segreti, ma la persona fidata cela quanto sa.
14 For want of leadership a people perishes, safety lies in many advisers.	14 Senza governo un popolo decade, il benessere dipende dai molti consiglieri.
15 Whoever goes bail for a stranger does himself harm, but one who shuns going surety is safe.	15 Di certo ne è responsabile chi garantisce un forestiero, chi rifiuta garanzie invece è al sicuro.
16 A gracious woman acquires honour, violent people acquire wealth.	16 Una donna benefica si acquista fama, uomini energici acquistano ricchezza.
17 Faithful love brings its own reward, the inflexible injure their own selves.	17 Arricchisce se stesso l'uomo benevolo, tortura invece il proprio corpo l'uomo crudele.
18 Disappointment crowns the labours of the wicked, whoever sows uprightness reaps a solid reward.	18 L'empio si affanna per un salario insicuro, ma per chi semina la giustizia la ricompensa è certa.
19 Whoever establishes uprightness is on the way to life, whoever pursues evil, on the way to death.	19 Chi consolida la giustizia è destinato alla vita, ma chi persegue il male è destinato alla morte.
20 Tortuous hearts are abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him, those whose ways are blameless.	20 Sono abominio del Signore i tortuosi di mente, ma son sua delizia quelli di vita integra.
21 Be sure of it, the wicked wil not go unpunished, but the race of the upright wil come to no harm.	21 Sicuramente il cattivo non resterà impunito, la stirpe dei giusti invece sarà salva.
22 A golden ring in the snout of a pig is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.	22 Anello d'oro al muso di un maiale una donna bella, ma senza cervello.
23 The hope of the upright is nothing but good, the expectation of the wicked is retribution.	23 Desiderio dei giusti è solo il bene, ma la speranza degli empi è la rovina.
24 One scatters money around, yet only adds to his wealth, another is excessively mean, but only growsthe poorer.	24 Uno largheggia e arricchisce ancora, uno risparmia oltre misura e solo impoverisce.
25 The soul who blesses wil prosper, whoever satisfies others wil also be satisfied.	25 L'anima benefica sempre si arricchisce e chi innaffia viene innaffiato.
26 The people's curse is on those who hoard the wheat, their blessing on the head of those who sel it.	26 Chi accaparra frumento lo maledice il popolo, ma la benedizione è sopra chi lo vende.
27 Whoever strives for good obtains favour, whoever looks for evil wil get an evil return.	27 Chi è sollecito nel bene trova compiacenza, ma chi cerca il male, il male lo raggiunge.
28 Whoever trusts in riches wil have a fal , the upright wil flourish like the leaves.	28 Chi confida nella sua ricchezza, costui rovina, ma come germoglio i giusti sbocceranno.
29 Whoever misgoverns a house inherits the wind, and the fool becomes slave to the wise.	29 Chi mette scompiglio in casa propria, il vento è la sua sorte e lo stolto divien servo del saggio di mente.
30 The fruit of the upright is a tree of life: the sage captivates souls.	30 Il frutto del giusto è l'albero di vita, un conquistator di anime è il saggio.
31 If here on earth the upright gets due reward, how much more the wicked and the sinner!	31 Se il giusto è ricompensato sulla terra, tanto più lo è l'empio e il peccatore.
