1 [For the choirmaster For Jeduthun Psalm Of David] I said, 'I wil watch how I behave so that I do notsin by my tongue. I will keep a muzzle on my mouth as long as any sinner is near.'	1 - Al corifeo. Salmo di David.
2 I stayed dumb, silent, speechless, but the sinner's prosperity redoubled my torment.	2 Con fermezza aspettai il Signore, ed ei si volse a me,
3 My heart had been smouldering within me, but at the thought of this it flared up and the words camebursting out,	3 e ascoltò le mie supplici grida. E mi ritrasse da rovinosa fossae dal fango melmoso. E stabilì sur una rupe i miei piedie guidò i miei passi.
4 'Yahweh, let me know my fate, how much longer I have to live. Show me just how frail I am.	4 E mise sulla mia bocca un canto nuovo, un inno al nostro Dio. Vedranno molti e temeranno, e confideranno nel Signore.
5 'Look, you have given me but a hand's breadth or two of life, the length of my life is as nothing to you.Every human being that stands on earth is a mere puff of wind,	5 Beato l'uomo la cui speranza è il nome del Signore, e che non volge l'occhio alla vanitàe alle follie menzognere.
6 every human being that walks only a shadow; a mere puff of wind is the wealth stored away -- noknowing who wil profit from it.'	6 Hai moltiplicato, Signore mio Dio, i tuoi portenti, e per i tuoi [benevoli] disegni non c'è chi ti somigli. Lo predico e lo dico: si son moltiplicati oltre [ogni] numero!
7 So now, Lord, what am I to hope for? My hope is in you.	7 Il sacrifizio e l'offerta tu non cerchi, ma le orecchie m'hai formate [per udire i tuoi comandi]. L'olocausto e la [vittima] per il peccato non chiedi
8 Save me from al my sins, do not make me the butt of fools.	8 e dissi [allora]: «Ecco ch'io vengo [e mi metto a' tuoi ordini]». Nel volume del Libro stan le [tue] prescrizioni per me:
9 I keep silence, I speak no more since you yourself have been at work.	9 far la tua volontà, mio Dio, io voglio, e [che] la Legge tua [sia] in mezzo al mio cuore.
10 Take your scourge away from me. I am worn out by the blows you deal me.	10 Proclamai la tua giustizia nella grande assemblea; sì, le mie labbra non rattenni,Signore, tu lo sai.
11 You correct human beings by punishing sin, like a moth you eat away all their desires -- a humanbeing is a mere puff of wind.	11 La tua giustizia non nascosi nel mio cuore, la tua fedeltà e salvezza pubblicai. Non celai la tua misericordiae la tua fedeltà davanti alla grande assemblea.
12 Yahweh, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for help, do not remain deaf to my weeping. For I am astranger in your house, a nomad like al my ancestors.	12 E tu, o Signore, non allontanar da me le tue misericordie: la tua benignità e la tua fedeltà sempre mi proteggano.
13 Turn away your gaze that I may breathe freely before I depart and am no more!	13 Perchè m'han circondato malisenza numero, m'han raggiunto le mie iniquitàe non posso sostenerne la vista. Più numerose sono de' capelli del mio capoe il mio cuor m'abbandona.
	14 Piacciati, o Signore, di liberarmi;Signore, volgiti e [affrettati] a soccorrermi.
	15 Sian confusi e svergognati a un tempoquei che cercan l'anima mia per togliermela. Sian volti in fuga e disonoratiquei che vogliono il mio male.
	16 Ricevan tosto la [meritata] ignominia, quei che dicono: «Bene! Bene!».
	17 Esultino e gioiscano in tetutti quei che ti cercano. E dican sempre: «Sia magnificato il Signore!», quei che aman la tua salvezza.
	18 Io son misero e poverello, [ma] il Signore si piglia cura di me. Il mio aiuto e il mio protettore se' tu: mio Dio, non tardare!
