1 [For the choirmaster For Jeduthun Psalm Of David] I said, 'I wil watch how I behave so that I do notsin by my tongue. I will keep a muzzle on my mouth as long as any sinner is near.'	1 Salmo dello stesso Davidde. Aspettai ansiosamente il Signore, ed egli a me si rivolse.
2 I stayed dumb, silent, speechless, but the sinner's prosperity redoubled my torment.	2 Ed esaudì le mie orazioni, e dall'abisso della miseria mi trasse, e dal sordido fango. E a' piedi miei diè fermezza sopra la pietra, e assicurò i miei passi.
3 My heart had been smouldering within me, but at the thought of this it flared up and the words camebursting out,	3 E mise a me in bocca un nuovo cantico, una lauda al nostro Dio. Vedranno molti, e temeranno, e spereranno nel Signore.
4 'Yahweh, let me know my fate, how much longer I have to live. Show me just how frail I am.	4 Beato l'uomo, di cui la speranza è il nome del Signore: e gli occhi non rivolse alle vanità, e alle follie dell'errore.
5 'Look, you have given me but a hand's breadth or two of life, the length of my life is as nothing to you.Every human being that stands on earth is a mere puff of wind,	5 Molte sono le meraviglie fatte da te, o Signore Dio mio; e i tuoi consigli non v'ha chi possa raggiungerli. Gli annunziai, e li raccontai; la lor moltitudine sorpassa ogni numero.
6 every human being that walks only a shadow; a mere puff of wind is the wealth stored away -- noknowing who wil profit from it.'	6 Non hai voluto sagrifizio, né obblazione: ma a me tu formasti le orecchie. Non hai richiesto olocausto, e sagrifizio per lo peccato:

8 Save me from al my sins, do not make me the butt of fools.	8 Per fare la tua volontà: Dio mio. Io volli in mezzo al cuor mio aver la tua legge.
9 I keep silence, I speak no more since you yourself have been at work.	9 Ho annunziato la tua giustizia in una Chiesa grande: ecco, che io non terrò chiuse le labbra: tu'l sai, o Signore.
10 Take your scourge away from me. I am worn out by the blows you deal me.	10 Non ascosi dentro di me la tua giustizia: dimostrai la tua verità, e il tuo Salvatore. Non tenni ascosa la tua misericordia, e la tua verità alla numerosa adunanza.
11 You correct human beings by punishing sin, like a moth you eat away all their desires -- a humanbeing is a mere puff of wind.	11 Ma tu, o Signore, non allontanare le tue misericordie da me: la tua pietà, e la tua verità mi sostennero in ogni tempo.
12 Yahweh, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for help, do not remain deaf to my weeping. For I am astranger in your house, a nomad like al my ancestors.	12 Imperocché sono circondato da mali, che non han numero: mi hanno cinto le mie iniquità, ed io non potea vederle. Sono di maggior numero, che i capelli della mia testa; e il cuore mi è mancato.
13 Turn away your gaze that I may breathe freely before I depart and am no more!	13 Piaccia a te, o Signore, di liberarmi: Signore volgiti a darmi aita.
	14 Siano confusi, e svergognati coloro, che cercano la mia vita, affin di rapirla. Siano messi in fuga, e svergognati coloro, che a me bramano il male.
	15 Ricevano tosto l'ignominia ohe meritano color, che a me dicono: Bene sta, bene sta.
	16 Esultino, e in te si rallegrino tutti coloro, i quali ti cercano; e quelli, che amano la salute, che vien da te, dicano in ogni tempo; Glorificato sia il Signore.
	17 Io per me son mendico, e senza aiuto: Il Signore ha cura di me. Tu sei aiuto mio, e mio protettore: Dio mio, non tardare.
