Psalms 18

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 [For the choirmaster Of David, the servant of Yahweh, who addressed the words of this song toYahweh when Yahweh had delivered him from all his enemies and from the clutches of Saul. He said:] I loveyou, Yahweh, my strength (my Saviour, you have saved me from violence).	1 Al maestro di coro. Del servo del Signore Davide, il quale pronunciò al Signore le parole di questo canto nel giorno in cui lo liberò dalla mano dei suoi nemici e dal potere degli inferi,
2 Yahweh is my rock and my fortress, my deliverer is my God. I take refuge in him, my rock, my shield,my saving strength, my stronghold, my place of refuge.	2 dicendo: Ti esalto, o Signore, mia forza,
3 I call to Yahweh who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my foes.	3 Signore, mia roccia, mia fortezza, mio scampo; mio Dio, mia rupe di rifugio; mio scudo, potenza di mia salvezza,
4 With Death's breakers closing in on me, Belial's torrents ready to swal ow me,	4 degno di ogni lode. Ho invocato il Signore e sono salvo dai miei nemici.
5 Sheol's snares every side of me, Death's traps lying ahead of me,	5 Flutti mortali mi circondarono, torrenti esiziali mi travolsero,
6 I called to Yahweh in my anguish, I cried for help to my God; from his Temple he heard my voice, mycry came to his ears.	6 mi avvolsero vincoli infernali, mi avvinsero lacci di morte.
7 Then the earth quaked and rocked, the mountains' foundations shuddered, they quaked at his blazinganger.	7 Nella mia angoscia invocai il Signore, al mio Dio gridai aiuto; la mia voce udì dal suo tempio, giunse il mio grido alle sue orecchie.
8 Smoke rose from his nostrils, from his mouth devouring fire (coals were kindled at it).	8 Allora vacillò la terra e sussultò; le basi dei monti tremarono, vacillarono allo scoppio della sua ira.
9 He parted the heavens and came down, a storm-cloud underneath his feet;	9 Salì fumo dalle sue narici, fuoco divorante dalla sua bocca, carboni fiammeggianti dalla sua persona.
10 riding one of the winged creatures, he flew, soaring on the wings of the wind.	10 Allora piegò i cieli e discese, con una nube sotto i suoi piedi;
11 His covering he made the darkness, his pavilion dark waters and dense cloud.	11 salì sopra un cherubino e volò, librandosi su ali spiegate.
12 A brightness lit up before him, hail and blazing fire.	12 Pose le tenebre quale velo all'intorno, fece sua tenda l'oscurità delle acque.
13 Yahweh thundered from the heavens, the Most High made his voice heard.	13 Dallo splendore della sua presenza si sprigionava grandine con carboni di fuoco.
14 He shot his arrows and scattered them, he hurled his lightning and routed them.	14 Il Signore tuonò dal cielo, l'Altissimo emise la sua voce;
15 The very springs of ocean were exposed, the world's foundations were laid bare, at your roaring,Yahweh, at the blast of breath from your nostrils!	15 scagliò le sue frecce e li disperse, moltiplicò i suoi lampi e li sbaragliò.
16 He reached down from on high, snatched me up, pulled me from the watery depths,	16 E apparvero le profondità del mare, si scoprirono le fondamenta del mondo, alla tua minaccia, o Signore, al soffio dell'alito delle tue narici.
17 rescued me from my mighty foe, from my enemies who were stronger than I.	17 Stese la sua mano e mi prese, mi trasse fuori dalle acque profonde,
18 They assailed me on my day of disaster but Yahweh was there to support me;	18 mi liberò dai miei nemici benché assai più potenti, da quelli che m'odiavano benché più forti di me.
19 he freed me, set me at large, he rescued me because he loves me.	19 Mi affrontarono nel giorno della mia sventura, ma il Signore divenne per me un sostegno.
20 Yahweh rewards me for my uprightness, as my hands are pure, so he repays me,	20 Mi fece uscire al largo, mi trasse in salvo poiché mi vuol bene.
21 since I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and not fallen away from my God.	21 Mi ha trattato il Signore secondo la mia giustizia, secondo la purezza delle mie mani mi ha ripagato.
22 His judgements are al before me, his statutes I have not put away from me.	22 Sì, ho osservato le vie del Signore e non mi sono allontanato dal mio Dio.
23 I am blameless before him, I keep myself clear of evil.	23 Sì, tutte le sue leggi sono dinanzi a me, i suoi decreti non ho rimosso da me.
24 So Yahweh repaid me for acting uprightly because he could see I was pure.	24 Retto sono stato con lui e mi sono custodito da ogni mia colpa.
25 You are faithful to the faithful, blameless with the blameless,	25 Il Signore mi ha ripagato secondo la mia giustizia, essendo pure le mie mani davanti ai suoi occhi.
26 sincere to the sincere, but cunning to the crafty,	26 Con l'uomo pietoso ti fai pietoso, con l'uomo retto ti mostri retto,
27 you save a people that is humble and humiliate those with haughty looks.	27 con chi è puro agisci da puro, con chi è perverso ti fai guardingo.
28 Yahweh, you yourself are my lamp, my God lights up my darkness;	28 Sì, tu un popolo umile poni in salvo e occhi superbi esponi al disprezzo.
29 with you I storm the rampart, with my God I can scale any wal .	29 Sì, tu sei la mia lucerna, o Signore, il mio Dio che dà luce alla mia oscurità.
30 This God, his way is blameless; the word of Yahweh is refined in the furnace, for he alone is theshield of al who take refuge in him.	30 Sì, con te sono pieno di forza quando vado all'assalto; con il mio Dio do la scalata a qualunque muraglia.
31 For who is God but Yahweh, who is a rock but our God?	31 La via di Dio è integra, la parola del Signore è sicura; uno scudo egli è per quanti si rifugiano in lui.
32 This God who girds me with strength, who makes my way free from blame,	32 Poiché chi è Dio all'infuori del Signore e chi è una rupe all'infuori del nostro Dio?
33 who makes me as swift as a deer and sets me firmly on the heights,	33 Dio mi cinse di forza e rese piana la mia via,
34 who trains my hands for battle, my arms to bend a bow of bronze.	34 rese i miei piedi come di cerve e sopra le alture mi fa stare sicuro;
35 You give me your invincible shield (your right hand upholds me) you never cease to listen to me,	35 le mie mani addestrò alla guerra e le mie braccia a tirar l'arco di bronzo.
36 you give me the strides of a giant, give me ankles that never weaken.	36 Hai dato a me il tuo scudo di salvezza; con la tua destra sei stato il mio sostegno moltiplicando su di me la tua benignità.
37 I pursue my enemies and overtake them, not turning back til they are annihilated;	37 Hai fatto largo ai miei passi sotto di me e i miei talloni non hanno ceduto.
38 I strike them down and they cannot rise, they fall, they are under my feet.	38 Inseguivo i miei nemici e li raggiungevo e non mi voltavo senz'averli annientati;
39 You have girded me with strength for the fight, bent down my assailants beneath me,	39 li abbattevo e non potevano rialzarsi, essi cadevano sotto i miei piedi;
40 made my enemies retreat before me; and those who hate me I destroy.	40 mi cingevi di forza per la battaglia, sotto di me piegavi i miei avversari;
41 They cry out, there is no one to save; to Yahweh, but no answer comes.	41 ai miei nemici mi ponevi alle spalle, quanti mi odiavano io li sterminai.
42 I crumble them like dust before the wind, trample them like the mud of the streets.	42 Al loro grido d'aiuto nessuno rispose, gridarono al Signore e non li esaudì;
43 You free me from the quarrels of my people, you place me at the head of the nations, a people I didnot know are now my servants;	43 li disperdevo come polvere del suolo, come fango delle strade io li calpestavo.
44 foreigners come wooing my favour, no sooner do they hear than they obey me;	44 Da contese di popolo mi hai liberato, mi hai posto a capo delle nazioni. Popoli che non conoscevo sono diventati miei sudditi.
45 foreigners grow faint of heart, they come trembling out of their fastnesses.	45 All'udir d'orecchio essi mi obbediscono, gli stranieri si inchinano davanti a me;
46 Life to Yahweh! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be the God of my salvation,	46 cadono esausti i popoli stranieri, escono trepidanti dai loro rifugi.
47 the God who gives me vengeance, and subjects whole peoples to me,	47 Viva il Signore e benedetta la mia rupe, sia esaltato il Dio del mio soccorso,
48 who rescues me from my raging enemies. You lift me high above those who attack me, you deliverme from the man of violence.	48 il Dio che mi ha dato vittoria e sotto di me ha soggiogato i popoli.
49 For this I wil praise you, Yahweh, among the nations, and sing praise to your name.	49 Mi ha liberato da rabbiosi nemici, mi ha esaltato sui miei avversari, mi ha sottratto a uomini violenti.
50 He saves his king time after time, displays his faithful love for his anointed, for David and his heirs forever.	50 Per questo ti lodo, o Signore, fra i popoli, voglio celebrare con canto il tuo nome.
	51 Ha dato al suo re strepitose vittorie, ha usato misericordia con il suo consacrato, con Davide e la sua discendenza per sempre.
