1 [Song of Ascents *{* The Songs of Ascents (Pss 120-134) were sung by pilgrims on their way up toJerusalem.} ] To Yahweh when I am in trouble I call and he answers me.	1 A song of ascents. The LORD answered me when I called in my distress:
2 Yahweh, save me from lying lips and a treacherous tongue!	2 LORD, deliver me from lying lips, from treacherous tongues.
3 What will he repay you, what more, treacherous tongue?	3 What will the Lord inflict on you, O treacherous tongue, and what more besides?
4 War-arrows made sharp over red-hot charcoal.	4 A warrior's sharpened arrows and fiery coals of brush wood!
5 How wretched I am, living in Meshech, dwel ing in the tents of Kedar!	5 Alas, I was an alien in Meshech, I lived near the tents of Kedar!
6 Too long have I lived among people who hate peace.	6 Too long did I live among those who hated peace.
7 When I speak of peace they are all for war!	7 When I spoke of peace, they were for war.
