Job 32

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 These three men stopped arguing with Job, because he was convinced of his uprightness.	1 Como Jó persistisse em considerar-se como um justo, estes três homens cessaram de lhe responder.
2 But Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the clan of Ram, became very angry. He fumed with rageagainst Job for thinking that he was right and God was wrong;	2 Então se inflamou a cólera de Eliú, filho de Baraquel, de Buz, da família de Rão; sua cólera inflamou-se contra Jó, por este pretender justificar-se perante Deus.
3 and he was equal y angry with the three friends for giving up the argument and thus putting God in thewrong.	3 Inflamou-se também contra seus três amigos, por não terem achado resposta conveniente, dando assim culpa a Deus.
4 While they and Job were talking, Elihu had waited, because they were older than he was;	4 Como fossem mais velhos do que ele, Eliú tinha se abstido de responder a Jó.
5 but when he saw that the three men had not another word to say in answer, his anger burst out.	5 Mas, quando viu que não tinham mais nada para responder, encolerizou-se.
6 And Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite began to speak. He said: I am stil young, and you are old, so Iwas shy and hesitant to tel you what I know.	6 Então Eliú, filho de Baraquel, de Buz, tomou a palavra nestes termos: Sou jovem em anos, e vós sois velhos; é por isso que minha timidez me impediu de manifestar-vos o meu saber.
7 I thought, 'Age ought to speak, advancing years wil convey wisdom.'	7 Dizia comigo: A idade vai falar; os muitos anos farão conhecer a sabedoria,
8 There is, you see, a spirit residing in humanity, the breath of God conferring intelligence.	8 mas é o Espírito de Deus no homem, e um sopro do Todo-poderoso que torna inteligente.
9 Great age does not give wisdom, nor seniority fair judgement.	9 Não são os mais velhos que são sábios, nem os anciãos que discernem o que é justo;
10 And so I ask you for a hearing; now it is my turn to tel what I know.	10 é por isso que digo: Escutai-me, vou mostrar-vos o que sei.
11 Up to now, I was hanging on your words, I paid attention to your arguments as each of you chose hiswords.	11 Esperei enquanto faláveis, prestei atenção em vossos raciocínios. Enquanto discutíeis,
12 I paid very close attention; and I see that none of you has confounded Job, not one of you has refutedwhat he says.	12 segui-vos atentamente. Mas ninguém refutou Jó, ninguém respondeu aos seus argumentos.
13 So do not say, 'We have found wisdom; our teaching is divine and not human.'	13 Não digais: Encontramos a sabedoria; é Deus e não um homem quem nos instrui.
14 I am not going to follow the same line of argument; my reply to Job wil be couched in different terms.	14 Não foi a mim que dirigiu seus discursos, mas encontrarei outras respostas diferentes das vossas.
15 They are nonplussed for an answer, words have failed them.	15 Ei-los calados, já não dizem mais nada; faltam-lhes as palavras.
16 I have been waiting. Since they do not speak, since they have given up the argument,	16 Esperei que se calassem, que parassem e cessassem de responder.
17 now I shal have my say, my turn has come to say what I know.	17 É a minha vez de responder: vou também mostrar o que sei.
18 For I am ful of words and forced to speak by a spirit within me;	18 Pois estou cheio de palavras, o espírito que está em meu peito me oprime.
19 within me, it feels like new wine seeking a vent, bursting out of new wine-skins.	19 Meu peito é como o vinho arrolhado, como um barril pronto para estourar.
20 To gain relief, I must speak, I must open my lips and reply.	20 Vou falar, isto me aliviará, abrirei meus lábios para responder.
21 I shall not take anyone's side, I shall not flatter anyone.	21 Não farei acepção de ninguém, não adularei este ou aquele.
22 I do not know how to flatter -- or my Creator would make short work of me.	22 Pois não sei bajular; do contrário, meu Criador logo me levaria.
