Job 32

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 These three men stopped arguing with Job, because he was convinced of his uprightness.	1 Allora quei tre personaggi cessarono di replicare a Giobbe, perché egli si riteneva giusto.
2 But Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the clan of Ram, became very angry. He fumed with rageagainst Job for thinking that he was right and God was wrong;	2 Ma Eliu, figlio di Barachele il buzita, del clan di Ram, si mise in collera contro Giobbe. Il suo sdegno si accese, perché questi pretendeva di aver ragione contro Dio.
3 and he was equal y angry with the three friends for giving up the argument and thus putting God in thewrong.	3 Si mise in collera anche contro i suoi tre amici, perché non avendo dato risposta, avevano riconosciuto Dio colpevole.
4 While they and Job were talking, Elihu had waited, because they were older than he was;	4 Ora Eliu aveva atteso, mentre essi parlavano con Giobbe, perché essi erano più anziani di lui;
5 but when he saw that the three men had not another word to say in answer, his anger burst out.	5 però quando Eliu vide che non c'era più risposta sulla bocca di questi tre uomini, si mise in collera.
6 And Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite began to speak. He said: I am stil young, and you are old, so Iwas shy and hesitant to tel you what I know.	6 Prese quindi la parola Eliu, figlio di Barachele il buzita, e disse: "Io sono ancor giovane e voi anziani; per questo ho esitato e temuto di esporvi la mia opinione.
7 I thought, 'Age ought to speak, advancing years wil convey wisdom.'	7 Pensavo: "Parleranno gli anni, e l'età avanzata insegnerà la sapienza".
8 There is, you see, a spirit residing in humanity, the breath of God conferring intelligence.	8 Però nell'uomo c'è uno spirito, il soffio dell'Onnipotente, che rende intelligente.
9 Great age does not give wisdom, nor seniority fair judgement.	9 Non sono i molti anni a dare la sapienza, né per essere anziano uno sa giudicare.
10 And so I ask you for a hearing; now it is my turn to tel what I know.	10 Perciò oso dire: "Ascoltatemi, esporrò anch'io la mia opinione".
11 Up to now, I was hanging on your words, I paid attention to your arguments as each of you chose hiswords.	11 Ecco, contavo sui vostri discorsi; ho prestato attenzione ai vostri argomenti, finché ricercavate delle risposte.
12 I paid very close attention; and I see that none of you has confounded Job, not one of you has refutedwhat he says.	12 Per quanto ascoltassi con attenzione, nessuno di voi fu capace di criticare Giobbe, di rispondere alle sue parole.
13 So do not say, 'We have found wisdom; our teaching is divine and not human.'	13 Non dite dunque: "Noi abbiamo trovato la sapienza, solo Dio la può confutare, non un uomo".
14 I am not going to follow the same line of argument; my reply to Job wil be couched in different terms.	14 Giobbe non ha rivolto a me le sue parole, e non risponderò con i vostri ragionamenti.
15 They are nonplussed for an answer, words have failed them.	15 Essi, sconcertati, non rispondono più, mancano loro le parole.
16 I have been waiting. Since they do not speak, since they have given up the argument,	16 Debbo ancora attendere, dato che non parlano, poiché stanno lì senza rispondere?
17 now I shal have my say, my turn has come to say what I know.	17 Replicherò anch'io per la mia parte, esporrò anch'io ciò che so.
18 For I am ful of words and forced to speak by a spirit within me;	18 Perché sono pieno di cose da dire; mi preme lo spirito che è dentro di me.
19 within me, it feels like new wine seeking a vent, bursting out of new wine-skins.	19 Ecco, dentro di me c'è come un vino che non ha sfogo, come degli otri nuovi che scoppiano.
20 To gain relief, I must speak, I must open my lips and reply.	20 Parlerò dunque e ne avrò sollievo, aprirò la bocca e risponderò.
21 I shall not take anyone's side, I shall not flatter anyone.	21 Non guarderò in faccia a nessuno, non adulerò nessuno,
22 I do not know how to flatter -- or my Creator would make short work of me.	22 perché non so adulare; altrimenti il mio Creatore in breve mi eliminerebbe.
