Nehemiah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 Eliashib the high priest with his brother priests then set to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate; they madethe framework, hung its doors, fixed its bolts and bars and proceeded as far as the Tower of the Hundred andthe Tower of Hananel.	1 O sumo pontífice Eliasib e os sacerdotes seus irmãos puseram mãos à obra e reedificaram a porta do Rebanho; eles mesmos a consagraram e assentaram os seus batentes. Repararam também a muralha e consagraram-na até à torre de Mea é até à torre de Hananeel.
2 The men of Jericho built next to him; Zaccur son of Imri built next to them.	2 Ao lado edificavam os homens de Jericó; mais adiante, edificou Zacur, filho de Amri.
3 The sons of Ha-Senaah rebuilt the Fish Gate; they made the framework, hung its doors and fixed itsbolts and bars.	3 Os filhos de Asnaa edificaram a porta dos Peixes, cobriram-na, puseram-lhe os batentes, as fechaduras e as trancas; ao lado deles trabalhou nas reparações Marimut, filho de Urias, filho de Acus;
4 Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, carried out repairs next to them; Meshul am son of Berechiah,son of Meshezabel, carried out repairs next to him; and Zadok son of Baana carried out repairs next to him.	4 ao lado deste, Mosolão, filho de Baraquias, filho de Mesezebel; ao lado deles, Sadoc, filho de Baana;
5 The men of Tekoa carried out repairs next to him, though their nobles would not demean themselves tohelp their masters.	5 ao lado destes, trabalharam nas reparações os de Tecua, mas os seus principais não se sujeitaram a trabalhar na obra do seu Senhor.
6 Joiada son of Paseah and Meshul am son of Besodeiah repaired the gate of the New Quarter; theymade the framework, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	6 Jojada, filho de Faseia, e Mosolão, filho de Besodia, edificaram a porta velha, cobriram-na e puseram-lhe os batentes, as fechaduras e as trancas;
7 Next to them repairs were carried out by Melatiah of Gibeon, Jadon of Meronoth, and the men ofGibeon and Mizpah, for the sake of the governor of Transeuphrates.	7 ao lado deles, trabalharam nas reparações Mellias Gabaonita, Jadon Meronatita, e os homens de Gabaon e de Masfa, em nome do governador de além do rio;
8 Next to them repairs were carried out by Uzziel son of Harhaiah, a member of the metal-workers' guild,and next to him repairs were carried out by Hananiah of the perfumers' guild. These renovated the wall ofJerusalem as far as the Broad Wal .	8 a seu lado trabalhou Eziel, filho de Araia, ourives; ao lado de Eziel, Ananias, filho de um perfumador. Deixaram (reparada aquela parte de) Jerusalém (que vai) até ao muro da praça maior.
9 Next to them repairs were carried out by Rephaiah son of Hur, who was head of one half of the districtof Jerusalem.	9 Ao lado deles, trabalhou Rafaia, filho de Hur, chefe (de metade) do distrito de Jerusalém;
10 Next to them Jedaiah son of Harumaph carried out repairs opposite his own house; next to him repairswere carried out by Hattush son of Hashabneiah.	10 ao lado dele, Jedaia, filho de Haromaf, defronte de sua casa; ao lado dele, Hato, filho de Hasebonias.
11 Malchijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-Moab repaired another section as far as theFurnace Tower.	11 Melquias, filho de Herem, e Hasub, filho de Faal-Moab, edificaram metade dum bairro e a torre dos Fornos;
12 Next to them repairs were carried out by Shal um son of Hal ohesh, head of the other half of thedistrict of Jerusalem, by him and his sons.	12 ao lado deles, trabalhou Selum, filho de Aloés, chefe da (outra) metade do distrito de Jerusalém, com suas filhas.
13 Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired the Val ey Gate: they rebuilt it, hung its doors and fixedits bolts and bars; they also repaired a thousand cubits of wal up to the Dung Gate.	13 A porta do Vale edificaram-na Hanun e os habitantes de Zanoé; estes a edificaram e lhe puseram os batentes, as fechaduras e as trancas; além disso, refizeram mil côvados do muro até à porta da Esterqueira.
14 Malchijah son of Rechab, head of the district of Beth-ha-Cherem, repaired the Dung Gate; he rebuilt it,hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	14 A porta da Esterqueira ediflicou-a Melquias, filho de Recab, chefe do distrito de Betacarão: edificou-a e pôs-lhe os batentes, as fechaduras e as trancas.
15 Shallum son of Col-Hozeh, head of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate; he rebuilt it,roofed it, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars. He also rebuilt the wal of the Pool of Siloah, adjoining theking's garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David.	15 A porta da Fonte edificou-a Selum, filho de Colboza, chefe do distrito de Masfa; ele a edificou e a cobriu e Ihe pôs as fechaduras e as trancas; além disso, refez os muros desde a piscina de Siloé, ao longo do jardim do rei, até aos degraus que descem da cidade de David.
16 After him, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, head of half the district of Beth-Zur, carried out repairs from a pointopposite the Davidic Tombs to the artificial pool and the House of the Champions.	16 Depois dele, trabalhou nas reparações Neemias, filho de Azboc, chefe de metade do distrito de Betsur, até defronte do sepulcro de David, até à piscina que tinha sido feita com grande trabalho, e até à casa dos Valentes (de David).
17 After him, repairs were carried out by the Levites: Rehum son of Bani; and next to him Hashabiah,head of one half of the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his own district.	17 Depois dele trabalharam nas reparações os Levitas, (sob a direcção de) Reum, filho de Beni; depois dele, Hasebias, chefe de metade do distrito de Ceila, no seu distrito;
18 After him, repairs were carried out by their brothers: Binnui son of Henadad, head of the other half ofthe district of Keilah.	18 depois dele, seus irmãos, sob a direcção de Bavai, filho de Enadad, chefe da (outra) metade de Ceila;
19 Next to him, Ezer son of Jeshua, headman of Mizpah, repaired another section in front of the ascentto the armoury at the Angle.	19 ao lado dele, Azer, filho de Josué, chefe de Masfa, reparou outro pedaço da muralha, em frente à subida do arsenal, no ângulo fortificado.
20 After him, Baruch son of Zabbai repaired another section from the Angle to the door of the house ofEliashib the high priest.	20 Depois dele, Baruc, filho de Zacai, edificou no monte outro tanto espaço, desde o ângulo até à porta da casa do sumo sacerdote Eliasib.
21 After him, Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, repaired another section from the door of Eliashib'shouse as far as the end of Eliashib's house.	21 Depois dele Merimut, filho de Urias, filho de Haco, edificou outro tanto espaço, desde a poria da casa de Eliasib até onde se estendia a casa de Eliasib.
22 And after him repairs were carried out by the priests who lived in the district.	22 Depois dele trabalharam nas reparações os sacerdotes habitantes das planícies do Jordão.
23 After them repairs were carried out by Benjamin and Hasshub, opposite their own house. After themrepairs were carried out by Azariah son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, beside his own house.	23 Depois deles, trabalharam nas reparações Benjamim e Hasub, defronte de suas casas. Depois dele, trabalhou nas reparações Azarias, filho de Maasias, filho de Ananias, defronte de sua casa.
24 After him, Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section from Azariah's house as far as the Angle atthe corner.	24 Depois dele, edificou Benui, filho de Henadad, outro tanto espaço, desde a casa de Azarias até à volta e até ao ângulo.
25 After him, Palal son of Uzai carried out repairs in front of the Angle and the tower projecting from theking's Upper Palace by the Court of the Guard; and after him, Pedaiah son of Parosh carried out the repairs	25 Falel, filho de Ozi, edificou defronte da volta e da torre, que se levanta acima da casa alta do rei, isto é, no átrio do cárcere; depois dele, Fadaias, filho de Faros.
26 to a point by the Water Gate to the east and the projecting tower.	26 Os Natineus habitavam no bairro de Ofel até defronte da porta das Aguas, para o oriente, e até à torre que estava sobranceira.
27 After him, the men of Tekoa repaired another section from in front of the great projecting tower as faras the wal of Ophel.	27 Depois de Fadaias, edificaram os de Tecua uma outra secção defronte, desde a torre grande e sobranceira até ao muro do templo.
28 From the Horse Gate onwards repairs were carried out by the priests, each in front of his own house.	28 Os sacerdotes trabalharam nas reparações mais acima, desde a porta dos cavalos, cada um defronte de sua casa.
29 After them repairs were carried out by Zadok son of Immer in front of his house, and after him repairswere carried out by Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, keeper of the East Gate.	29 Depois deles, Sadoc, filho de Emer, defronte de sua casa. Depois dele, Semaia, filho de Sequenias, guarda da porta do oriente.
30 After him Hananiah son of Shelemiah and Hanun sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section, afterwhom repairs were carried out by Meshul am son of Berechiah in front of his room.	30 Depois dele, Hanania, filho de Selemias, e Hanun, sexto filho de Selef, edificaram outro tanto espaço. Depois deste edificou Mosolão, filho de Baraquias, o muro, defronte da sua casa. Depois dele, Melquias, filho dum ourives, fez as reparações até à casa dos Natineus e dos mercieiros, defronte da porta dos juízes até à sala da esquina.
31 After him Malchijah, of the metal-workers' guild, repaired as far as the Hal of the temple slaves andmerchants, in front of the Muster Gate, as far as the upper room at the corner.	31 Entre a sala da esquina e a porta do rebanho trabalharam nas reparações os ourives e os negociantes.
32 And between the upper room at the corner and the Sheep Gate repairs were carried out by thegoldsmiths and the merchants.
33 When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wal , he became furiously angry.
34 He ridiculed the Jews and in front of his kinsmen and the aristocracy of Samaria he exclaimed, 'Whatare these pathetic Jews doing . . . ? Are they going to give up? Or offer sacrifices? Or complete the work in aday? Can they put new life into stones taken from rubbish heaps and even charred?'
35 And beside him Tobiah of Ammon remarked, 'If a jackal were to jump on what they are building, itwould knock their stone wal down!'
36 Listen, our God, for we are despised! Make their sneers fal back on their own heads! Send them asbooty to a land of captivity!
37 Do not pardon their wickedness, may their sin never be erased before you, for they have insulted thebuilders to their face!
38 Meanwhile we were rebuilding the wal , which was soon joined up al the way round to mid-height; thepeople put their hearts into the work.
