Nehemiah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	SMITH VAN DYKE
1 Eliashib the high priest with his brother priests then set to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate; they madethe framework, hung its doors, fixed its bolts and bars and proceeded as far as the Tower of the Hundred andthe Tower of Hananel.	1 وقام الياشيب الكاهن العظيم واخوته الكهنة وبنوا باب الضأن. هم قدسوه واقاموا مصاريعه وقدسوه الى برج المئة الى برج حننئيل.
2 The men of Jericho built next to him; Zaccur son of Imri built next to them.	2 وبجانبه بنى رجال اريحا وبجانبهم بنى زكّور بن إمري.
3 The sons of Ha-Senaah rebuilt the Fish Gate; they made the framework, hung its doors and fixed itsbolts and bars.	3 وباب السمك بناه بنو هسناءة. هم سقفوه واوقفوا مصاريعه واقفاله وعوارضه.
4 Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, carried out repairs next to them; Meshul am son of Berechiah,son of Meshezabel, carried out repairs next to him; and Zadok son of Baana carried out repairs next to him.	4 وبجانبهم رمم مريموث بن اوريا بن هقوص. وبجانبهم رمم مشلام بن برخيا بن مشيزبئيل. وبجانبهم رمم صادوق بن بعنا.
5 The men of Tekoa carried out repairs next to him, though their nobles would not demean themselves tohelp their masters.	5 وبجانبهم رمم التقوعيون واما عظماؤهم فلم يدخلوا اعناقهم في عمل سيدهم.
6 Joiada son of Paseah and Meshul am son of Besodeiah repaired the gate of the New Quarter; theymade the framework, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	6 والباب العتيق رممه يوياداع بن فاسيح ومشلام بن بسوديا. هما سقفاه واقاما مصاريعه واقفاله وعوارضه.
7 Next to them repairs were carried out by Melatiah of Gibeon, Jadon of Meronoth, and the men ofGibeon and Mizpah, for the sake of the governor of Transeuphrates.	7 وبجانبهما رمم ملطيا الجبعوني ويادون الميرونوثي من اهل جبعون والمصفاة الى كرسي والي عبر النهر.
8 Next to them repairs were carried out by Uzziel son of Harhaiah, a member of the metal-workers' guild,and next to him repairs were carried out by Hananiah of the perfumers' guild. These renovated the wall ofJerusalem as far as the Broad Wal .	8 وبجانبهما رمم عزيئيل بن حرهايا من الصياغين. وبجانبه رمم حننيا من العطارين. وتركوا اورشليم الى السور العريض.
9 Next to them repairs were carried out by Rephaiah son of Hur, who was head of one half of the districtof Jerusalem.	9 وبجانبهم رمم رفايا بن حور رئيس نصف دائرة اورشليم.
10 Next to them Jedaiah son of Harumaph carried out repairs opposite his own house; next to him repairswere carried out by Hattush son of Hashabneiah.	10 وبجانبهم رمم يدايا بن حروماف ومقابل بيته. وبجانبه رمم حطوش بن حشبنيا.
11 Malchijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-Moab repaired another section as far as theFurnace Tower.	11 قسم ثان رممه ملكيا بن حاريم وحشوب بن فحث موآب وبرج التنانير.
12 Next to them repairs were carried out by Shal um son of Hal ohesh, head of the other half of thedistrict of Jerusalem, by him and his sons.	12 وبجانبه رمم شلوم بن هلوحيش رئيس نصف دائرة اورشليم هو وبناته.
13 Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired the Val ey Gate: they rebuilt it, hung its doors and fixedits bolts and bars; they also repaired a thousand cubits of wal up to the Dung Gate.	13 باب الوادي رممه حانون وسكان زانوح هم بنوه واقاموا مصاريعه واقفاله وعوارضه والف ذراع على السور الى باب الدّمن.
14 Malchijah son of Rechab, head of the district of Beth-ha-Cherem, repaired the Dung Gate; he rebuilt it,hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	14 وباب الدمن رممه ملكيا بن ركاب رئيس دائرة بيت هكّاريم هو بناه واقام مصاريعه واقفاله وعوارضه.
15 Shallum son of Col-Hozeh, head of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate; he rebuilt it,roofed it, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars. He also rebuilt the wal of the Pool of Siloah, adjoining theking's garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David.	15 وباب العين رممه شلون بن كلحوزة رئيس دائرة المصفاة هو بناه وسقفه واقام مصاريعه واقفاله وعوارضه وسور بركة سلوام عند جنينة الملك الى الدرج النازل من مدينة داود.
16 After him, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, head of half the district of Beth-Zur, carried out repairs from a pointopposite the Davidic Tombs to the artificial pool and the House of the Champions.	16 وبعده رمم نحميا بن عزبوق رئيس نصف دائرة بيت صور الى مقابل قبور داود والى البركة المصنوعة والى بيت الجبابرة.
17 After him, repairs were carried out by the Levites: Rehum son of Bani; and next to him Hashabiah,head of one half of the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his own district.	17 وبعده رمم اللاويون رحوم بن باني وبجانبه رمم حشبيا رئيس نصف دائرة قعيلة في قسمه.
18 After him, repairs were carried out by their brothers: Binnui son of Henadad, head of the other half ofthe district of Keilah.	18 وبعده رمم اخوتهم بواي بن حيناداد رئيس نصف دائرة قعيلة.
19 Next to him, Ezer son of Jeshua, headman of Mizpah, repaired another section in front of the ascentto the armoury at the Angle.	19 ورمم بجانبه عازر بن يشوع رئيس المصفاة قسما ثانيا من مقابل مصعد بيت السلاح عند الزاوية.
20 After him, Baruch son of Zabbai repaired another section from the Angle to the door of the house ofEliashib the high priest.	20 وبعده رمم بعزم باروخ بن زباي قسما ثانيا من الزاوية الى مدخل بيت الياشيب الكاهن العظيم.
21 After him, Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, repaired another section from the door of Eliashib'shouse as far as the end of Eliashib's house.	21 وبعده رمم مريموث بن اوريا بن هقوص قسما ثانيا من مدخل بيت الياشيب الى نهاية بيت الياشيب.
22 And after him repairs were carried out by the priests who lived in the district.	22 وبعده رمم الكهنة اهل الغور.
23 After them repairs were carried out by Benjamin and Hasshub, opposite their own house. After themrepairs were carried out by Azariah son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, beside his own house.	23 وبعدهم رمم بنيامين وحشوب مقابل بيتهما. وبعدهما رمم عزريا بن معسيا بن عننيا بجانب بيته.
24 After him, Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section from Azariah's house as far as the Angle atthe corner.	24 وبعده رمم بنوي بن حيناداد قسما ثانيا من بيت عزريا الى الزاوية والى العطفة.
25 After him, Palal son of Uzai carried out repairs in front of the Angle and the tower projecting from theking's Upper Palace by the Court of the Guard; and after him, Pedaiah son of Parosh carried out the repairs	25 وفالال بن اوزاي من مقابل الزاوية والبرج الذي هو خارج بيت الملك الاعلى الذي لدار السجن. وبعده فدايا بن فرعوش.
26 to a point by the Water Gate to the east and the projecting tower.	26 وكان النثينيم ساكنين في الاكمة الى مقابل باب الماء لجهة الشرق والبرج الخارجي.
27 After him, the men of Tekoa repaired another section from in front of the great projecting tower as faras the wal of Ophel.	27 وبعدهم رمم التقوعيون قسما ثانيا من مقابل البرج الكبير الخارجي الى سور الاكمة.
28 From the Horse Gate onwards repairs were carried out by the priests, each in front of his own house.	28 وما فوق باب الخيل رممه الكهنة كل واحد مقابل بيته.
29 After them repairs were carried out by Zadok son of Immer in front of his house, and after him repairswere carried out by Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, keeper of the East Gate.	29 وبعدهم رمم صادوق بن امّير مقابل بيته. وبعده رمم شمعيا بن شكنيا حارس باب الشرق.
30 After him Hananiah son of Shelemiah and Hanun sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section, afterwhom repairs were carried out by Meshul am son of Berechiah in front of his room.	30 وبعده رمم حننيا بن شلميا وحانون بن صالاف السادس قسما ثانيا. وبعده رمم مشلام بن برخيا مقابل مخدعه.
31 After him Malchijah, of the metal-workers' guild, repaired as far as the Hal of the temple slaves andmerchants, in front of the Muster Gate, as far as the upper room at the corner.	31 وبعده رمم ملكيا بن الصائغ الى بيت النثينيم والتجار مقابل باب العدّ الى مصعد العطفة.
32 And between the upper room at the corner and the Sheep Gate repairs were carried out by thegoldsmiths and the merchants.	32 وما بين مصعد العطفة الى باب الضأن رممه الصياغون والتجار
33 When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wal , he became furiously angry.
34 He ridiculed the Jews and in front of his kinsmen and the aristocracy of Samaria he exclaimed, 'Whatare these pathetic Jews doing . . . ? Are they going to give up? Or offer sacrifices? Or complete the work in aday? Can they put new life into stones taken from rubbish heaps and even charred?'
35 And beside him Tobiah of Ammon remarked, 'If a jackal were to jump on what they are building, itwould knock their stone wal down!'
36 Listen, our God, for we are despised! Make their sneers fal back on their own heads! Send them asbooty to a land of captivity!
37 Do not pardon their wickedness, may their sin never be erased before you, for they have insulted thebuilders to their face!
38 Meanwhile we were rebuilding the wal , which was soon joined up al the way round to mid-height; thepeople put their hearts into the work.
