Nehemiah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Eliashib the high priest with his brother priests then set to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate; they madethe framework, hung its doors, fixed its bolts and bars and proceeded as far as the Tower of the Hundred andthe Tower of Hananel.	1 Entonces se levantó Eliasib, el Sumo Sacerdote, con sus hermanos, los sacerdotes, y reconstruyeron la puerta de las Ovejas: la consagraron, y colocaron sus hojas; luego continuaron hasta la torre de los Cien y hasta la torre de Jananel, y consagraron la muralla.
2 The men of Jericho built next to him; Zaccur son of Imri built next to them.	2 Junto a ellos trabajaron los hombres de Jericó, y a continuación Sacur, hijo de Imrí.
3 The sons of Ha-Senaah rebuilt the Fish Gate; they made the framework, hung its doors and fixed itsbolts and bars.	3 Los hijos de Jasená construyeron la puerta de los pescados: hicieron el armazón y colocaron las hojas, los cerrojos y las barras.
4 Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, carried out repairs next to them; Meshul am son of Berechiah,son of Meshezabel, carried out repairs next to him; and Zadok son of Baana carried out repairs next to him.	4 Junto a ellos trabajó Meremot, hijo de Urías, hijo de Hacós; luego Mesulam, hijo de Berequías, y a continuación Sadoc, hijo de Baaná.
5 The men of Tekoa carried out repairs next to him, though their nobles would not demean themselves tohelp their masters.	5 Junto a ellos trabajaron los habitantes de Técoa, pero sus notables se negaron a colaborar con las autoridades.
6 Joiada son of Paseah and Meshul am son of Besodeiah repaired the gate of the New Quarter; theymade the framework, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	6 La puerta de la Vieja la restauraron Ioiadá, hijo de Paséaj, y Mesulam, hijos de Besodías: hicieron el armazón y colocaron las hojas, los cerrojos y las barras.
7 Next to them repairs were carried out by Melatiah of Gibeon, Jadon of Meronoth, and the men ofGibeon and Mizpah, for the sake of the governor of Transeuphrates.	7 Junto a ellos trabajaron Melatías de Gabaón y Iadón de Meronot, como así también los hombres de Gabaón y de Mispá, por cuenta del gobernador de la provincia que está a este lado del Eufrates.
8 Next to them repairs were carried out by Uzziel son of Harhaiah, a member of the metal-workers' guild,and next to him repairs were carried out by Hananiah of the perfumers' guild. These renovated the wall ofJerusalem as far as the Broad Wal .	8 Junto a él trabajó Uziel, hijo de Harhaiá, del gremio de los orfebres, y a continuación Jananías, del gremio de los perfumistas: ambos dejaron terminada la muralla de Jerusalén hasta el muro Ancho.
9 Next to them repairs were carried out by Rephaiah son of Hur, who was head of one half of the districtof Jerusalem.	9 Junto a ellos trabajó Refaías, hijo de Jur, jefe de una mitad del distrito de Jerusalén.
10 Next to them Jedaiah son of Harumaph carried out repairs opposite his own house; next to him repairswere carried out by Hattush son of Hashabneiah.	10 Junto a él trabajó Iedaías, hijo de Jarumaf, al frente de su casa, y a continuación Jatús, hijo de Hasabnías.

12 Next to them repairs were carried out by Shal um son of Hal ohesh, head of the other half of thedistrict of Jerusalem, by him and his sons.	12 Junto a él trabajó Salúm, hijo de Halojés, jefe de una mitad del distrito de Jerusalén, y también sus hijos.
13 Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired the Val ey Gate: they rebuilt it, hung its doors and fixedits bolts and bars; they also repaired a thousand cubits of wal up to the Dung Gate.	13 La puerta del Valle la restauraron Janún y los habitantes de Zanóaj: la reconstruyeron, colocaron las hojas, los cerrojos y las barras, y levantaron quinientos metros de muralla, hasta la puerta del Basural.
14 Malchijah son of Rechab, head of the district of Beth-ha-Cherem, repaired the Dung Gate; he rebuilt it,hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	14 La puerta del Basural la restauró Malquías, hijo de Recab, jefe del distrito de Bet Ha Quérem: él la reconstruyó y colocó las hojas, los cerrojos y las barras.
15 Shallum son of Col-Hozeh, head of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate; he rebuilt it,roofed it, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars. He also rebuilt the wal of the Pool of Siloah, adjoining theking's garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David.	15 La puerta de la Fuente la restauró Salúm, hijo de Col Jozé, jefe del distrito de Mispá: él la reconstruyó, la recubrió y colocó las hojas, los cerrojos y las barras; también rehizo el muro del estanque del canal, junto al jardín del rey, hasta las escaleras que bajan de la Ciudad de David.
16 After him, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, head of half the district of Beth-Zur, carried out repairs from a pointopposite the Davidic Tombs to the artificial pool and the House of the Champions.	16 Después de él trabajó Nehemías, hijo de Azbuc, jefe de la mitad del distrito de Betsur; él reparó hasta el lugar que está enfrente de las tumbas de David, hasta el estanque artificial y hasta la Casa de los Valientes.
17 After him, repairs were carried out by the Levites: Rehum son of Bani; and next to him Hashabiah,head of one half of the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his own district.	17 Después de él trabajaron los levitas, entre ellos Rejúm, hijo de Baní; junto a él, Jasabías, jefe de la mitad del distrito de Queilá, trabajó en su propio distrito.
18 After him, repairs were carried out by their brothers: Binnui son of Henadad, head of the other half ofthe district of Keilah.	18 Después de él trabajaron sus hermanos: Binuí, hijo de Jenadad, jefe de la mitad del distrito de Queilá.
19 Next to him, Ezer son of Jeshua, headman of Mizpah, repaired another section in front of the ascentto the armoury at the Angle.	19 Junto a él, Ezer, hijo de Josué, jefe de Mispá, reparó otro sector, frente a la subida del Arsenal, en dirección del Angulo.
20 After him, Baruch son of Zabbai repaired another section from the Angle to the door of the house ofEliashib the high priest.	20 Después de él trabajó Baruc, hijo de Zabat: él reparó otro sector, desde el Angulo hasta la puerta de la casa de Eliasib, el Sumo Sacerdote.
21 After him, Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, repaired another section from the door of Eliashib'shouse as far as the end of Eliashib's house.	21 Después de él trabajó Meremot, hijo de Urías, hijo de Hacós: él reparó otro sector, desde la puerta de la casa de Eliasib hasta el extremo de la misma.
22 And after him repairs were carried out by the priests who lived in the district.	22 Después de él trabajaron los sacerdotes venidos de los alrededores.
23 After them repairs were carried out by Benjamin and Hasshub, opposite their own house. After themrepairs were carried out by Azariah son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, beside his own house.	23 A continuación trabajaron Benjamín y Jasub, frente a sus propias casas. Después de ellos trabajó Azarías, hijo de Maasías, hijo de Ananías, al costado de la suya.
24 After him, Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section from Azariah's house as far as the Angle atthe corner.	24 Después de él trabajó Binuí, hijo de Jenadad: él reparó otro sector, desde la casa de Azarías hasta el Angulo y la Esquina.
25 After him, Palal son of Uzai carried out repairs in front of the Angle and the tower projecting from theking's Upper Palace by the Court of the Guard; and after him, Pedaiah son of Parosh carried out the repairs	25 En cuanto a Palai, hijo de Uzai, lo hizo frente al Angulo y a la torre superior, que sobresale de la casa del rey, junto al patio de la Prisión. Después de él trabajó Pedaías, hijo de Parós,
26 to a point by the Water Gate to the east and the projecting tower.
27 After him, the men of Tekoa repaired another section from in front of the great projecting tower as faras the wal of Ophel.	27 Después de él trabajaron los hombres de Técoa, en otro sector, desde enfrente de la torre que sobresale hasta el muro de Ofel.
28 From the Horse Gate onwards repairs were carried out by the priests, each in front of his own house.	28 Junto a la puerta de los Caballos trabajaron los sacerdotes, cada uno enfrente de su casa.
29 After them repairs were carried out by Zadok son of Immer in front of his house, and after him repairswere carried out by Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, keeper of the East Gate.	29 Después de ellos trabajó Sadoc, hijo de Imer, enfrente de su casa, y a continuación Semaías, hijo de Secanías, guardián de la puerta Oriental.
30 After him Hananiah son of Shelemiah and Hanun sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section, afterwhom repairs were carried out by Meshul am son of Berechiah in front of his room.	30 Después de él trabajó Jananías, hijo de Selemías, y Janún, el sexto hijo de Salaf, en otro sector. A continuación trabajó Mesulam, hijo de Berequías, frente a su vivienda.
31 After him Malchijah, of the metal-workers' guild, repaired as far as the Hal of the temple slaves andmerchants, in front of the Muster Gate, as far as the upper room at the corner.	31 Después de él trabajó Malquías, del gremio de los orfebres, hasta la casa de los empleados del Templo y de los comerciantes, frente a la puerta de la Inspección y hasta la habitación alta del Angulo.
32 And between the upper room at the corner and the Sheep Gate repairs were carried out by thegoldsmiths and the merchants.	32 Y entre la habitación alta del Angulo y la puerta de las Ovejas, trabajaron los orfebres y los comerciantes.
33 When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wal , he became furiously angry.	33 Cuando Sambalat se enteró de que nosotros estábamos restaurando las murallas, se enfureció y manifestó una gran irritación. Se burló de los judíos,
34 He ridiculed the Jews and in front of his kinsmen and the aristocracy of Samaria he exclaimed, 'Whatare these pathetic Jews doing . . . ? Are they going to give up? Or offer sacrifices? Or complete the work in aday? Can they put new life into stones taken from rubbish heaps and even charred?'	34 y dijo delante de sus hermanos y de las tropas de Samaría: «¿Qué pretenden hacer esos judíos incapaces? ¿Piensan acaso reconstruir, ofrecer sacrificios, terminar en un día? ¿Harán revivir esas piedras extraídas de un montón de escombros y todas calcinadas?».
35 And beside him Tobiah of Ammon remarked, 'If a jackal were to jump on what they are building, itwould knock their stone wal down!'	35 Y Tobías, el amonita, que estaba a su lado, añadió: «¡Déjalos que construyan! ¡Bastará que suba un zorro para hacer que se desmoronen sus murallas de piedra!»
36 Listen, our God, for we are despised! Make their sneers fal back on their own heads! Send them asbooty to a land of captivity!	36 ¡Escucha, Dios nuestro, cómo somos despreciados! Que sus ultrajes recaigan sobre sus cabezas, y entrégalos al desprecio en una tierra de cautiverio.
37 Do not pardon their wickedness, may their sin never be erased before you, for they have insulted thebuilders to their face!	37 No encubras su iniquidad y que su pecado no se borre de tu presencia, porque han agraviado a los constructores.
38 Meanwhile we were rebuilding the wal , which was soon joined up al the way round to mid-height; thepeople put their hearts into the work.	38 A pesar de todo, trabajamos en la reconstrucción de la muralla, que fue enteramente restaurada hasta media altura. El pueblo, en efecto, se había tomado la obra muy a pecho.
