Nehemiah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 Eliashib the high priest with his brother priests then set to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate; they madethe framework, hung its doors, fixed its bolts and bars and proceeded as far as the Tower of the Hundred andthe Tower of Hananel.	1 Élyachib le grand prêtre se mit à l’œuvre avec ses frères prêtres, et ils reconstruisirent la Porte des Brebis. Ils montèrent la charpente, ils posèrent les battants des portes et continuèrent jusqu’à la Tour-des-Cent et jusqu’à la Tour-de-Hananéel.
2 The men of Jericho built next to him; Zaccur son of Imri built next to them.	2 Après eux c’étaient les gens de Jéricho, puis Zakour fils d’Imri qui travaillaient.
3 The sons of Ha-Senaah rebuilt the Fish Gate; they made the framework, hung its doors and fixed itsbolts and bars.	3 Les fils de Ha-Sénaa construisirent la Porte des Poissons, ils en montèrent la charpente et posèrent les battants avec les verrous et les barres.
4 Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, carried out repairs next to them; Meshul am son of Berechiah,son of Meshezabel, carried out repairs next to him; and Zadok son of Baana carried out repairs next to him.	4 Ensuite Mérémot, fils d’Ouriyas, fils de Hakos, se mit au travail, puis Méchoullam, fils de Bérékya, fils de Méchézabéel, enfin Sadoq fils de Baana.
5 The men of Tekoa carried out repairs next to him, though their nobles would not demean themselves tohelp their masters.	5 Les gens de Tékoa se mirent au travail mais leurs chefs jugèrent indigne d’eux de travailler au service de leur Seigneur.
6 Joiada son of Paseah and Meshul am son of Besodeiah repaired the gate of the New Quarter; theymade the framework, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	6 Yoyada fils de Paséa et Méchoullam fils de Bésodyas, réparèrent la Porte du Quartier Neuf, ils en montèrent la charpente et posèrent ses battants avec les verrous et les barres.
7 Next to them repairs were carried out by Melatiah of Gibeon, Jadon of Meronoth, and the men ofGibeon and Mizpah, for the sake of the governor of Transeuphrates.	7 Mélatyas de Gabaon et Yadon de Méronot travaillèrent à leur suite avec les gens de Gabaon et de Mispa qui dépendaient du gouverneur de la province d’au-delà de l’Euphrate.
8 Next to them repairs were carried out by Uzziel son of Harhaiah, a member of the metal-workers' guild,and next to him repairs were carried out by Hananiah of the perfumers' guild. These renovated the wall ofJerusalem as far as the Broad Wal .	8 Après eux Ouziel, de la corporation des orfèvres, et Hananyas, de la corporation des parfumeurs, fortifièrent Jérusalem jusqu’au Gros Mur.
9 Next to them repairs were carried out by Rephaiah son of Hur, who was head of one half of the districtof Jerusalem.	9 Après eux travaillait Réfayas fils de Hour, chef de la moitié du secteur de Jérusalem.
10 Next to them Jedaiah son of Harumaph carried out repairs opposite his own house; next to him repairswere carried out by Hattush son of Hashabneiah.	10 Puis Yédayas fils de Haroumaf, sur le devant de sa maison, ensuite Hatouch fils de Hachabnéyas.
11 Malchijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-Moab repaired another section as far as theFurnace Tower.	11 Malkiyas fils de Harim, et Hachchoub fils de Pahat-Moab, réparèrent le secteur suivant jusqu’à la tour des Fours.
12 Next to them repairs were carried out by Shal um son of Hal ohesh, head of the other half of thedistrict of Jerusalem, by him and his sons.	12 À leur suite, Challoum fils de Hallohech, chef de l’autre moitié du secteur de Jérusalem, travailla avec ses filles.
13 Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired the Val ey Gate: they rebuilt it, hung its doors and fixedits bolts and bars; they also repaired a thousand cubits of wal up to the Dung Gate.	13 Hanoun et les habitants de Zanoah réparèrent la porte de la Vallée, ils la reconstruisirent et posèrent ses battants avec les verrous et les barre; ils firent 1 000 coudées de mur jusqu’à la porte du Fumier.
14 Malchijah son of Rechab, head of the district of Beth-ha-Cherem, repaired the Dung Gate; he rebuilt it,hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.	14 Malkiyas fils de Rékab, chef du secteur de Beth-Ha-Kérem, répara la porte du Fumier avec ses fils, il en posa les battants avec les verrous et les barres.
15 Shallum son of Col-Hozeh, head of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate; he rebuilt it,roofed it, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars. He also rebuilt the wal of the Pool of Siloah, adjoining theking's garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David.	15 Challoum fils de Kol-Hozé, chef du secteur de Mispa, répara la porte de la Fontaine, il la reconstruisit, il en posa le toit et les battants des portes avec les verrous et les barres, il releva le mur de la Citerne de Siloé jusqu’aux escaliers qui descendent de la Cité de David (la Citerne se trouve à côté du Jardin du Roi).
16 After him, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, head of half the district of Beth-Zur, carried out repairs from a pointopposite the Davidic Tombs to the artificial pool and the House of the Champions.	16 Néhémyas fils d’Azbouk, chef de la moitié du secteur de Beth-Sour, prolongea les travaux jusqu’aux sépultures de David, jusqu’à la Citerne et jusqu’à la maison de la garde royale.
17 After him, repairs were carried out by the Levites: Rehum son of Bani; and next to him Hashabiah,head of one half of the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his own district.	17 Après lui travaillaient les lévites: Réhoum fils de Bani, Hachabyas chef de la moitié du secteur de Keïla;
18 After him, repairs were carried out by their brothers: Binnui son of Henadad, head of the other half ofthe district of Keilah.	18 puis leurs frères, Binnouï fils de Hénadad, chef de la moitié du secteur de Keïla,
19 Next to him, Ezer son of Jeshua, headman of Mizpah, repaired another section in front of the ascentto the armoury at the Angle.	19 Ézer fils de Yéchoua, chef de Mispa, à l’angle des remparts près de la Maison des Armes;
20 After him, Baruch son of Zabbai repaired another section from the Angle to the door of the house ofEliashib the high priest.	20 après eux Barouk fils de Zabaï, depuis l’angle des remparts jusqu’à la porte de la maison du grand prêtre Élyachib;
21 After him, Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, repaired another section from the door of Eliashib'shouse as far as the end of Eliashib's house.	21 après lui, pour la section suivante, Mérémot fils d’Ouriyas, fils de Hakos, depuis l’entrée de la maison d’Élyachib jusqu’à son extrémité.
22 And after him repairs were carried out by the priests who lived in the district.	22 Les prêtres qui habitaient les autres secteurs travaillèrent également aux réparations:
23 After them repairs were carried out by Benjamin and Hasshub, opposite their own house. After themrepairs were carried out by Azariah son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, beside his own house.	23 Binyamin et Hachchoub, en face de leur propre maison, Azarias fils de Maaséyas, fils de Hananyas, près de sa maison;
24 After him, Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section from Azariah's house as far as the Angle atthe corner.	24 dans le secteur suivant, Binnouï fils de Hénadad, depuis la maison d’Azarias jusqu’à l’angle des remparts;
25 After him, Palal son of Uzai carried out repairs in front of the Angle and the tower projecting from theking's Upper Palace by the Court of the Guard; and after him, Pedaiah son of Parosh carried out the repairs	25 puis Palal fils d’Ouzaï, près de l’angle des remparts et de la tour qui protège le palais royal du côté de la cour de la prison. Pédayas, fils de Paréoch, travailla
26 to a point by the Water Gate to the east and the projecting tower.	26 jusqu’en face de la porte des Eaux, à l’est, et jusqu’à la tour d’angle;
27 After him, the men of Tekoa repaired another section from in front of the great projecting tower as faras the wal of Ophel.	27 après lui les gens de Tékoa, en face de la grande tour d’angle et jusqu’au mur de l’Ophel.
28 From the Horse Gate onwards repairs were carried out by the priests, each in front of his own house.	28 Les prêtres travaillèrent aux réparations, chacun en face de sa propre maison, à partir de la porte des Chevaux:
29 After them repairs were carried out by Zadok son of Immer in front of his house, and after him repairswere carried out by Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, keeper of the East Gate.	29 Sadoq fils d’Immer, en face de sa propre maison; Chémayas fils de Chekanyas, gardait la porte de l’Est.
30 After him Hananiah son of Shelemiah and Hanun sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section, afterwhom repairs were carried out by Meshul am son of Berechiah in front of his room.	30 Hananyas fils de Chélémyas, et Hanoun, le sixième fils de Salaf, travaillèrent dans le secteur suivant. Méchoullam fils de Bérékya, en face de sa propre maison;
31 After him Malchijah, of the metal-workers' guild, repaired as far as the Hal of the temple slaves andmerchants, in front of the Muster Gate, as far as the upper room at the corner.	31 Malkiyas, de la corporation des orfèvres, jusqu’à la maison des serviteurs et des commerçants: c’était en face de la porte de la Surveillance, près de la salle haute de l’angle des remparts.
32 And between the upper room at the corner and the Sheep Gate repairs were carried out by thegoldsmiths and the merchants.	32 Entre ces deux salles hautes et la Porte des Brebis, les orfèvres et les commerçants firent le travail.
33 When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wal , he became furiously angry.	33 Lorsque Samballat apprit que nous étions en train de reconstruire le rempart, il en fut très agacé et se mit en colère. Se moquant des Juifs,
34 He ridiculed the Jews and in front of his kinsmen and the aristocracy of Samaria he exclaimed, 'Whatare these pathetic Jews doing . . . ? Are they going to give up? Or offer sacrifices? Or complete the work in aday? Can they put new life into stones taken from rubbish heaps and even charred?'	34 il déclara devant ses frères et devant les troupes de Samarie: - “Que font ces pauvres Juifs? Ils pensent sans doute qu’ils vont faire revivre ces pierres qu’ils ont sorties des ruines et qui sont toutes brûlées!”
35 And beside him Tobiah of Ammon remarked, 'If a jackal were to jump on what they are building, itwould knock their stone wal down!'	35 Et Tobiyas l’Ammonite, qui était à côté de lui, ajouta: - “Ils peuvent bien construire, le premier renard qui voudra passer fera tomber leur mur de pierre!”
36 Listen, our God, for we are despised! Make their sneers fal back on their own heads! Send them asbooty to a land of captivity!	36 Écoute, ô notre Dieu, comme nous sommes méprisés! Fais retomber leurs insultes sur leur propre tête et qu’ils soient eux-mêmes méprisés dans un pays où ils seront prisonniers!
37 Do not pardon their wickedness, may their sin never be erased before you, for they have insulted thebuilders to their face!	37 Ne pardonne pas leur faute, n’efface pas ce péché, car ils ont insulté ceux qui construisaient.
38 Meanwhile we were rebuilding the wal , which was soon joined up al the way round to mid-height; thepeople put their hearts into the work.	38 C’est ainsi que nous avons relevé le rempart et l’avons laissé terminé jusqu’à mi-hauteur, car le peuple travaillait avec ardeur.
