To Babylon Nebuchadnezzar also took some of the objects belonging to the Temple of Yahweh andput them in his palace in Babylon.7
The rest of the history of Jehoiakim, the shameful things that he did and what happened to him inconsequence, these are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for three months andten days in Jerusalem. He did what is displeasing to Yahweh.9 ܒܪ ܬܡܢܥܣܪܐ ܗܘܐ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ ܝܘܝܟܝܢ ܟܕ ܩܡ ܒܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܡܐܐ ܝܘܡ̈ܝܢ ܐܡܠܟ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܥܒܕ ܕܒܝ̣ܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ

He did what is displeasing to Yahweh his God. He did not listen humbly to the prophet Jeremiah whospoke for Yahweh.12
Furthermore, he rebel ed against King Nebuchadnezzar who had made him swear al egiance to himby God. He became stubborn, and obstinately refused to return to Yahweh, God of Israel.13 ܘܐܦ ܥܠ ܢܒܘܟܕܢܨܪ ܡܪܕ ܕܝܡܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܒܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܩܫܝ ܩܕܠܗ ܘܩܫܝ ܠܒܗ ܘܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܠܡܨܠܝܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ

Yahweh, God of their ancestors, continuously sent them word through his messengers because hefelt sorry for his people and his dwel ing,15 ܘܫܕܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܒܗ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܠܐܟ̈ܘܗܝ ܡܩܕܡܝܢ ܘܡܚܫܟܝܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܚܣ ܥܠ ܥܡܗ ܘܥܠ ܥ̈ܢܐ ܕܓܒܐ
but they ridiculed the messengers of God, they despised his words, they laughed at his prophets, until Yahweh's wrath with his people became so fierce that there was no further remedy.16 ܘܗܘܘ ܓܚ̇ܟܝܢ ܥܠ ܡܠܐܟ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܡܒܣܪܝܢ ܥܠ ܡܠܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܘܓܚ̇ܟܝܢ ܥܠ ܢܒܝܘ̈ܗܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܣܠܩܬ ܚܡܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܥܡܗ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܣܝܘ
So against them he summoned the king of the Chaldaeans and he put their young men to the swordwithin the very building of their Temple, not sparing young man or girl, or the old and infirm; he put them al at hismercy.17 ܘܐܣܩ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܠܡܠܟܐ ܕܟܠܕ̈ܝܐ ܘܩܛܠ ܥܠܝܡ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܒܚܪܒܐ ܒܝܬ ܡܩܕܫܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܚܣ ܥܠ ܓܕܘܕ̈ܐ ܘܥܠ ܒܬܘ̈ܠܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܩܫܝ̈ܫܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܥܠ ܝܢ̇ܩ̈ܝ ܚܠܒܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܫܠܡ ܒܐܝܕܗ
Al the things belonging to the Temple of God, whether large or smal , the treasures of the Temple ofYahweh, the treasures of the king and his officials, everything he took to Babylon.18 ܘܟܘܠ ܡܐ̈ܢܝ ܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܐ ܘܕܩܕ̈ܩܐ ܘܓܙܐ ܕܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܓܙܐ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܕܫܠܝܛܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܟܠܗ ܐܘܒܠ ܠܒܒܠ
He burned down the temple of God, demolished the wal s of Jerusalem, burned al its palaces to theground and destroyed everything of value in it.19 ܘܐܘܩܕܗ ܠܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܥܩܪ ܫܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܟܠܗܝܢ ܣܚܪ̈ܬܗ̇ ܐܘܩܕ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܘܟܠ ܡܐ̈ܢܐ ܕܪܓܬܐ ܚܒܠ
And those who had escaped the sword he deported to Babylon, where they were enslaved by himand his descendants until the rise of the kingdom of Persia,20 ܘܐܦܩ ܒܫܒܝܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܦܠܛܘ ܡܢ ܚܪܒܐ ܠܒܒܠ ܘܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܥܒ̣̈ܕܐ ܘܠܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܕܐܫܠܡ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܠܦܪ̈ܣܝܐ
to fulfil Yahweh's prophecy through Jeremiah: Until the country has paid off its Sabbaths, it wil liefal ow for al the days of its desolation -- until the seventy years are complete.21 ܕܬܫܠܡ ܡܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܡܠܠ ܗܘܐ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܬܬܢܝܚ ܐܪܥܐ ܒܫܒ̈ܝܗ̇ ܟܠ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܕܬܨܕܐ ܠܡܫܠܡ ܫܒܥܝܢ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ
In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia -- to fulfil the word of Yahweh through Jeremiah -- Yahwehroused the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to issue a proclamation and to have it publicly displayed throughout hiskingdom:22 ܒܫܢܬ ܚܕܐ ܠܟܘܪܫ ܡܠܟܐ ܦܪܣܝܐ ܕܬܫܠܡ ܡܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܦܘܡܗ ܕܐܪܡܝܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܐܥܝܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܪܘܚܗ ܕܟܘܪܫ ܡܠܟܐ ܦܪܣܝܐ ܘܐܥܒܪ ܩܠܐ ܒܟܠܗ̇ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܘܐܦ ܒܟܬܒܐ ܐܡܝܪ ܗܘܐ ܫܡܗ
'Cyrus king of Persia says this, "Yahweh, the God of Heaven, has given me al the kingdoms of theearth and has appointed me to build him a Temple in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among youof al his people, may his God be with him! Let him go up."
