1 The people of the land then took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and proclaimed him king of Jerusalem insuccession to his father.	1 - Il popolo del paese allora prese Joacaz, figlio di Josia, e lo costituì, in luogo del padre suo, re in Gerusalemme.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for three months inJerusalem.	2 Joacaz aveva ventitrè anni quando cominciò a regnare e regnò tre mesi in Gerusalemme,
3 The king of Egypt deposed him in Jerusalem and imposed a levy of a hundred talents of silver andone talent of gold on the country.	3 perchè il re d'Egitto, quando venne a Gerusalemme rimosse e condannò il paese a pagare cento talenti d'argento e un talento d'oro.
4 The king of Egypt then made his brother Eliakim king of Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his nameto Jehoiakim. 5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eleven years inJerusalem. He did what is displeasing to Yahweh his God.	5 Joachim aveva venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò undici anni in Gerusalemme, operando il male al cospetto del Signore Dio suo.
6 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked him, loaded him with chains and took him to Babylon.	6 Contro costui salì Nabucodonosor, re dei Caldei, e caricatolo di catene lo condusse in Babilonia,
7 To Babylon Nebuchadnezzar also took some of the objects belonging to the Temple of Yahweh andput them in his palace in Babylon.	7 dove trasportò anche i vasi del Signore, che collocò nel suo tempio.
8 The rest of the history of Jehoiakim, the shameful things that he did and what happened to him inconsequence, these are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. His son Jehoiachin succeededhim.	8 Il rimanente delle azioni di Joachim, le sue abominazioni che compì e che si ritrovarono in lui, sono contenute nel libro dei re di Giuda e di Israele. 9 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for three months andten days in Jerusalem. He did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	9 Joachin aveva otto anni quando incominciò a regnare e regnò tre mesi e dieci giorni in Gerusalemme e fece il male al cospetto del Signore.
10 At the turn of the year, King Nebuchadnezzar sent for him and had him taken to Babylon, with thevaluables belonging to the Temple of Yahweh, and made his brother Zedekiah king of Judah and Jerusalem.	10 L'anno seguente il re Nabucodonosor mandò truppe perchè lo conducessero a Babilonia, facendovi trasportare anche i vasi più preziosi della casa del Signore; e venne costituito re in Giuda e Gerusalemme lo zio suo Sedecia.
11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eleven years inJerusalem.	11 Sedecia aveva ventun anno quando cominciò a regnare e ne regnò undici in Gerusalemme,
12 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh his God. He did not listen humbly to the prophet Jeremiah whospoke for Yahweh.	12 facendo il male agli occhi del Signore Iddio suo, nè avendo riguardo a Geremia profeta, che gli parlava in nome di Dio.
13 Furthermore, he rebel ed against King Nebuchadnezzar who had made him swear al egiance to himby God. He became stubborn, and obstinately refused to return to Yahweh, God of Israel.	13 Egli si ribellò anche al re Nabucodonosor, che l'aveva fatto giurare per Iddio e indurò la sua cervice e il suo cuore, così da non volersi arrendere al Signore Dio d'Israele.
14 Furthermore, al the leaders of Judah, the priests and the people too, added infidelity to infidelity,copying al the shameful practices of the nations and defiling the Temple of Yahweh which he himself hadconsecrated in Jerusalem.	14 Insieme a lui prevaricarono iniquamente anche i principi dei sacerdoti e il popolo, abbandonandosi a tutte le abominazioni delle genti e contaminando la casa che il Signore si era santificato in Gerusalemme.
15 Yahweh, God of their ancestors, continuously sent them word through his messengers because hefelt sorry for his people and his dwel ing,	15 Il Signore Iddio de' padri loro mandava ad essi di buon'ora i suoi messi per avvertirli giornalmente, perchè voleva risparmiare il popolo e il suo santuario.
16 but they ridiculed the messengers of God, they despised his words, they laughed at his prophets,until Yahweh's wrath with his people became so fierce that there was no further remedy.	16 Ma essi deridevano i messaggeri di Dio e disprezzavano le parole di lui e facevano oggetto di scherno i profeti, finchè lo sdegno del Signore contro il suo popolo arrivò a tal punto da non esservi più rimedio.
17 So against them he summoned the king of the Chaldaeans and he put their young men to the swordwithin the very building of their Temple, not sparing young man or girl, or the old and infirm; he put them al at hismercy.	17 Poichè fece venire sopra di essi il re dei Caldei e uccise i loro giovani colla spada, nella casa del suo santuario; non ebbe misericordia dei giovanetti, delle vergini, dei vecchi e degli stessi decrepiti, ma tutti abbandonò nelle mani di lui.
18 Al the things belonging to the Temple of God, whether large or smal , the treasures of the Temple ofYahweh, the treasures of the king and his officials, everything he took to Babylon.	18 Di più egli trasferì tutti i vasi della casa del Signore, piccoli o grandi, e i tesori del tempio, del re e dei principi in Babilonia.
19 He burned down the temple of God, demolished the wal s of Jerusalem, burned al its palaces to theground and destroyed everything of value in it.	19 I nemici poi diedero fuoco alla casa di Dio, distrussero le mura di Gerusalemme, bruciarono tutte le torri, e distrussero tutto ciò che avesse un qualche pregio.
20 And those who had escaped the sword he deported to Babylon, where they were enslaved by himand his descendants until the rise of the kingdom of Persia,	20 Che se alcuno potè sfuggire alla spada, tratto in Babilonia servì al re e ai figli suoi, fino a che non ottenne il dominio il re dei Persiani,
21 to fulfil Yahweh's prophecy through Jeremiah: Until the country has paid off its Sabbaths, it wil liefal ow for al the days of its desolation -- until the seventy years are complete.	21 e non si compì la parola del Signore [detta] per bocca di Geremia, e il paese non ebbe celebrato il suo sabato; poichè esso riposò tutto il tempo della sua desolazione, finchè non furono compiti i settant'anni.
22 In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia -- to fulfil the word of Yahweh through Jeremiah -- Yahwehroused the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to issue a proclamation and to have it publicly displayed throughout hiskingdom:	22 Nell'anno però primo di Ciro, re dei Persiani, a compimento della parola del Signore che era stata detta per bocca di Geremia, il Signore suscitò lo spirito di Ciro, re dei Persiani, il quale comandò di annunziare in tutto il suo regno, anche con scritti, quanto segue:
23 'Cyrus king of Persia says this, "Yahweh, the God of Heaven, has given me al the kingdoms of theearth and has appointed me to build him a Temple in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among youof al his people, may his God be with him! Let him go up." '	23 «Questo comanda Ciro, re dei Persiani: -Il Signore Dio del cielo diede a me tutti i regni della terra, e mi comandò di edificargli la casa in Gerusalemme, che è nella Giudea. Chi tra voi è del suo popolo? Il Signore Dio sia con lui e salga-».
