1 The people of the land then took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and proclaimed him king of Jerusalem insuccession to his father.	1 Allora il popolo del paese pre­se Ioacaz figlio di Giosia e lo costituì re in Gerusalemme, in luogo del padre suo.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for three months inJerusalem.	2 Ioacaz aveva ventitré anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò tre mesi in Gerusalemme.
3 The king of Egypt deposed him in Jerusalem and imposed a levy of a hundred talents of silver andone talent of gold on the country.	3 Ma il re d'Egitto, venuto a Gerusalemme, lo depose, condannò il paese a cento talenti d'argento e a un talento d'oro,
4 The king of Egypt then made his brother Eliakim king of Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his nameto Jehoiakim. Carrying off his brother Jehoahaz, Necho took him to Egypt.	4 e in luogo di lui fece re sopra Giuda e Gerusalemme il suo fratello Eliachim, mutatogli il nome in Ioachim. Ioacaz lo prese con sé e lo menò in Egitto.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eleven years inJerusalem. He did what is displeasing to Yahweh his God.	5 Ioachim aveva venticinque anui quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò undici anni in Gerusalemme e fece il male nel cospetto del Si­gnore Dio suo.
6 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked him, loaded him with chains and took him to Babylon.	6 Contro di lui sali Nabucodonosor re dei Caldei, e lo condusse incatenato a Babilonia,
7 To Babylon Nebuchadnezzar also took some of the objects belonging to the Temple of Yahweh andput them in his palace in Babylon.	7 dove, trasportati anche i vasi del Signore, li collocò nel suo tempio.
8 The rest of the history of Jehoiakim, the shameful things that he did and what happened to him inconsequence, these are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. His son Jehoiachin succeededhim.	8 Il resto delle azioni di Ioachim e delle abominazioni ch'egli commise e che furon trovate in lui, sono contenute nel libro dei re di Giuda e d'Israele. E Ioachin suo figlio regnò in suo luogo.
9 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for three months andten days in Jerusalem. He did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	9 Ioachin aveva otto anni quan­do cominciò a regnare; regnò tre mesi e dieci giorni in Gerusalemme, e fece il male nel cospetto del Signore.
10 At the turn of the year, King Nebuchadnezzar sent for him and had him taken to Babylon, with thevaluables belonging to the Temple of Yahweh, and made his brother Zedekiah king of Judah and Jerusalem.	10 Al ritorno dell'anno il re Nabucodonosor mandò chi lo portò in Babilonia con i più preziosi vasi della casa del Signore, e costituì re sopra Giuda e Gerusalemme il suo zio Sedecia.
11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eleven years inJerusalem.	11 Sedecia aveva ventun anno quando cominciò a regnare, e re­gnò undici anni in Gerusalemme.
12 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh his God. He did not listen humbly to the prophet Jeremiah whospoke for Yahweh.	12 Egli fece il male nel cospetto del Signore Dio suo, e non ebbe rispetto per Geremia profeta il quale gli parlava da parte del Si­gnore.
13 Furthermore, he rebel ed against King Nebuchadnezzar who had made him swear al egiance to himby God. He became stubborn, and obstinately refused to return to Yahweh, God of Israel.	13 Di più si ribellò al re Nabucodonosor, che l'aveva fatto giurare nel nome di Dio, e indurò la sua cervice e il suo cuore per non convertirsi al Signore Dio d'Israele.
14 Furthermore, al the leaders of Judah, the priests and the people too, added infidelity to infidelity,copying al the shameful practices of the nations and defiling the Temple of Yahweh which he himself hadconsecrated in Jerusalem.	14 Anche tutti i principi dei sacerdoti e il popolo prevaricarono iniquamente dietro tutte le abominazioni delle genti, e contaminarono la casa del Signore, ch'egli avea santificata per sé in Gerusalemme.
15 Yahweh, God of their ancestors, continuously sent them word through his messengers because hefelt sorry for his people and his dwel ing,	15 Il Signore Dio dei loro padri si volse loro per mezzo dei suoi inviati, di buon'ora, li ammoniva ogni giorno, per risparmiare il suo popolo e la sua dimora.
16 but they ridiculed the messengers of God, they despised his words, they laughed at his prophets,until Yahweh's wrath with his people became so fierce that there was no further remedy.	16 Ma essi si beffavano degli inviati di Dio, e tenendo in nessun conto le sue parole ne deridevano i profeti, finché levatosi il furore del Signore contro il suo popolo, non vi fu più rimedio.
17 So against them he summoned the king of the Chaldaeans and he put their young men to the swordwithin the very building of their Temple, not sparing young man or girl, or the old and infirm; he put them al at hismercy.	17 Infatti egli fece venir sopra di loro il re dei Caldei, che uccise di spada i loro giovani nella casa del santuario, senz'aver pietà nò del giovanetto, nè della vergine, nè del vecchio, nè dell'uomo decrepito. Dio li diede tutti nelle mani di lui.
18 Al the things belonging to the Temple of God, whether large or smal , the treasures of the Temple ofYahweh, the treasures of the king and his officials, everything he took to Babylon.	18 Ed egli trasportò a Babilonia tutti i vasi della casa del Signore, grandi e piccoli, e i tesori del tempio, del re e dei principi.
19 He burned down the temple of God, demolished the wal s of Jerusalem, burned al its palaces to theground and destroyed everything of value in it.	19 I nemici incendiarono la casa di Dio, e distrussero il muro di Gerusalemme, bruciarono tutte le torri, demolirono tutto quel­lo che vi era di prezioso.
20 And those who had escaped the sword he deported to Babylon, where they were enslaved by himand his descendants until the rise of the kingdom of Persia,	20 Se qualcuno potè fuggire alla spada, condotto a Babilonia divenne schiavo del re e dei suoi fi­gli, sino a che non ebbe l'impero il re di Persia;
21 to fulfil Yahweh's prophecy through Jeremiah: Until the country has paid off its Sabbaths, it wil liefal ow for al the days of its desolation -- until the seventy years are complete.	21 affinchè fosse adempita la parola del Signore detta per bocca di Geremia e la terra celebrasse i suoi sabati. Difatti tutto il tempo della desolazione essa fece il sabato, finché non furon compiti i settanta anni. I/o ditto di Ciro
22 In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia -- to fulfil the word of Yahweh through Jeremiah -- Yahwehroused the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to issue a proclamation and to have it publicly displayed throughout hiskingdom:	22 Ma l'anno primo di Ciro re dei Persiani, il Signore, per compire la parola del Signore, da lui detta per bocca di Geremia, mosse. L'animo di Ciro re dei Persiani, il quale comandò che si pubblicasse per tutto il suo regno, anche per iscritto, que­sto decreto:
23 'Cyrus king of Persia says this, "Yahweh, the God of Heaven, has given me al the kingdoms of theearth and has appointed me to build him a Temple in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among youof al his people, may his God be with him! Let him go up." '	23 « Ecco ciò che dice Ciro re dei Persiani: Il Si­gnore Dio del cielo m'ha dato tutti i regni della terra; egli m'ha ordinato di edificargli una casa in Gerusalemme che è nella Giudea. Chi tra voi è del suo popolo? Il Signore Dio suo sia con lui; salga pure ».
