NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 The people of the land then took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and proclaimed him king of Jerusalem insuccession to his father.	1 A população da terra elegeu então Joacaz, filho de Josias, e o estabeleceu rei no lugar de seu pai, em Jerusalém.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for three months inJerusalem.	2 Joacaz tinha vinte e três anos quando começou a reinar; reinou três meses em Jerusalém.
3 The king of Egypt deposed him in Jerusalem and imposed a levy of a hundred talents of silver andone talent of gold on the country.	3 O rei do Egito destronou-o em Jerusalém e impôs à terra uma contribuição de cem talentos de prata e um talento de ouro.
4 The king of Egypt then made his brother Eliakim king of Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his nameto Jehoiakim. Carrying off his brother Jehoahaz, Necho took him to Egypt.	4 Em seguida, pôs no trono de Jerusalém o irmão de Joacaz, Eliacim, de quem mudou o nome para Joaquim. 5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eleven years inJerusalem. He did what is displeasing to Yahweh his God.	5 Joaquim tinha a idade de vinte e cinco anos quando foi elevado ao trono; reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. Fez o mal aos olhos do Senhor seu Deus.
6 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked him, loaded him with chains and took him to Babylon.	6 Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, atacou-o e ligou-o com uma dupla cadeia de bronze para conduzi-lo a Babilônia,
7 To Babylon Nebuchadnezzar also took some of the objects belonging to the Temple of Yahweh andput them in his palace in Babylon.	7 levando ao mesmo tempo os objetos do templo para o seu palácio de Babilônia.
8 The rest of the history of Jehoiakim, the shameful things that he did and what happened to him inconsequence, these are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. 9 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for three months andten days in Jerusalem. He did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	9 Joaquin tinha a idade de dezoito anos quando foi elevado ao trono; reinou três meses em Jerusalém. Fez o mal aos olhos do Senhor.
10 At the turn of the year, King Nebuchadnezzar sent for him and had him taken to Babylon, with thevaluables belonging to the Temple of Yahweh, and made his brother Zedekiah king of Judah and Jerusalem.	10 No ano novo, o rei Nabucodonosor mandou que fosse levado para Babilônia com os objetos preciosos do templo do Senhor. Substituiu-o, no trono de Judá e de Jerusalém, Sedecias, irmão de seu pai.
11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eleven years inJerusalem.	11 Sedecias tinha a idade de vinte e um anos quando foi elevado ao trono; reinou onze anos em Jerusalém.
12 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh his God. He did not listen humbly to the prophet Jeremiah whospoke for Yahweh.	12 Fez o mal aos olhos do Senhor, seu Deus, e não se humilhou diante do profeta Jeremias que lhe tinha vindo falar da parte do Senhor.
13 Furthermore, he rebel ed against King Nebuchadnezzar who had made him swear al egiance to himby God. He became stubborn, and obstinately refused to return to Yahweh, God of Israel.	13 Revoltou-se contra o rei Nabucodonosor, que, contudo, lhe tinha feito prestar um juramento em nome de Deus. Endureceu a cerviz e tornou inflexível seu coração para não se converter ao Senhor, Deus de Israel.
14 Furthermore, al the leaders of Judah, the priests and the people too, added infidelity to infidelity,copying al the shameful practices of the nations and defiling the Temple of Yahweh which he himself hadconsecrated in Jerusalem.	14 Todos os chefes dos sacerdotes e o povo continuaram a multiplicar seus delitos, imitando as práticas abomináveis das nações pagãs e profanando o templo que o Senhor tinha consagrado para si em Jerusalém.
15 Yahweh, God of their ancestors, continuously sent them word through his messengers because hefelt sorry for his people and his dwel ing,	15 Em vão o Senhor, Deus de seus pais, lhes tinha enviado, por meio de seus mensageiros, avisos sobre avisos, pois tinha compaixão de seu povo e de sua própria habitação;
16 but they ridiculed the messengers of God, they despised his words, they laughed at his prophets,until Yahweh's wrath with his people became so fierce that there was no further remedy.	16 eles zombavam de seus enviados, desprezavam seus conselhos e riam de seus profetas, até que a ira de Deus se desencadeou sobre o seu povo, e não houve mais remédio.
17 So against them he summoned the king of the Chaldaeans and he put their young men to the swordwithin the very building of their Temple, not sparing young man or girl, or the old and infirm; he put them al at hismercy.	17 Então Deus suscitou contra eles o rei dos caldeus, que, no próprio edifício do santuário, mandou matar seus jovens, e não poupou o adolescente, nem a donzela, nem o ancião, nem a mulher de cabelos brancos. 18 Al the things belonging to the Temple of God, whether large or smal , the treasures of the Temple ofYahweh, the treasures of the king and his officials, everything he took to Babylon.	18 Nabucodonosor mandou tirar todo o mobiliário do templo, tanto os objetos grandes como os pequenos, os tesouros do templo, os do palácio real e os dos chefes, para transportá-los a Babilônia.
19 He burned down the temple of God, demolished the wal s of Jerusalem, burned al its palaces to theground and destroyed everything of value in it.	19 Incendiaram o templo, destruíram os muros de Jerusalém, entregaram às chamas seus palácios e todos os tesouros foram lançados à destruição.
20 And those who had escaped the sword he deported to Babylon, where they were enslaved by himand his descendants until the rise of the kingdom of Persia,	20 Nabucodonosor deportou para Babilônia todos os que tinham escapado à espada, e eles se tornaram seus escravos, dele e de seus filhos, até o advento do domínio persa.
21 to fulfil Yahweh's prophecy through Jeremiah: Until the country has paid off its Sabbaths, it wil liefal ow for al the days of its desolation -- until the seventy years are complete.	21 Assim se cumpria a profecia que o Senhor tinha dado pela boca de Jeremias - Até que a terra desfrutasse os seus sábados -, pois a terra ficou inculta durante todo esse período de desolação, até que se completaram setenta anos.
22 In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia -- to fulfil the word of Yahweh through Jeremiah -- Yahwehroused the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to issue a proclamation and to have it publicly displayed throughout hiskingdom:	22 No primeiro ano de Ciro, rei da Pérsia, a fim de que se cumprisse a profecia do Senhor, posta na boca de Jeremias, o Senhor excitou o espírito de Ciro, rei da Pérsia, e este mandou fazer em todo o seu reino, à viva voz e também por escrito, a proclamação seguinte:
23 'Cyrus king of Persia says this, "Yahweh, the God of Heaven, has given me al the kingdoms of theearth and has appointed me to build him a Temple in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among youof al his people, may his God be with him! Let him go up." '	23 Assim fala Ciro, rei da Pérsia: o Senhor, Deus do céu, deu-me todos os reinos da terra, e me encarregou de lhe construir um templo em Jerusalém, que está na terra de Judá. Todo aquele dentre vós que for de seu povo, esteja seu Deus com ele, e que ele para lá se dirija!
