1 Sons of Reuben, first-born of Israel. He was indeed the first-born but, when he defiled his father's bed,his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel, and he was no longer reckoned as the eldest son.	1 Fils de Ruben premier-né d’Israël. Il était bien le premier-né, mais après qu’il eût souillé la couche de son père, son droit d’aînesse fut donné aux fils de Joseph, fils d’Israël: cependant on ne les considéra pas comme les aînés.
2 Although Judah grew greater than his brothers and a leader came from him, the birthright wasJoseph's.	2 Et Joseph eut le droit d’aînesse, bien que Juda l’emportât sur ses frères et qu’il y eût un prince grâce à lui.
3 Sons of Reuben, first-born of Israel: Henoch, Pal u, Hezron, Carmi.	3 Fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël: Hénok, Palou, Hesron et Karmi.
4 Sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,	4 Fils de Yoël: Chémayas son fils, Gog son fils, Chiméï son fils,
5 Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son.	5 Mika son fils, Réayas son fils, Baal son fils,
6 Beerah his son, whom Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria carried off into exile, was the chief of theReubenites.	6 Bééra son fils: Téglat-Phalasar, roi d’Assyrie emmena ce dernier en captivité. Il était chef des Rubénites.
7 His brothers, by families, were grouped according to relationship. Jeiel was first, then Zechariah	7 Voici ses frères d’après leurs familles et leur descendance: d’abord Yeïel, Zékaryas,
8 and Bela son of Azaz, son of Shema, son of Joel. It was Reuben who lived in Aroer and his territoryextended as far as Nebo and Baal-Meon.	8 Béla fils d’Azaz, fils de Chéma, fils de Yoël. Ruben était établi à Aroër et s’étendait jusqu’au Nébo et Baal-Méon.
9 To eastward, what he occupied extended to the edge of the desert and the River Euphrates, for theyhad many herds in Gilead.	9 À l’est il s’étendait de l’Euphrate jusqu’à l’entrée du désert: ses troupeaux s’étaient développés au pays de Galaad.
10 In the time of Saul, they made war on the Hagrites, whom they defeated and who were then living intheir tents throughout the eastern front of Gilead.	10 Au temps de Saül, ils firent la guerre aux Hagrites et tombèrent entre leurs mains: ceux-ci s’installèrent dans leurs tentes sur tout le versant oriental de Galaad.
11 Next to them, in Bashan as far as Salecah, lived the sons of Gad.	11 En face d’eux, les fils de Gad s’installèrent dans le pays du Bashan jusqu’à Salka:
12 Joel was the first, Shapham the second, then Janai and Shaphat in Bashan.	12 le premier, Yoël, le second, Chafam, ensuite Yanaï et Chafat, au pays du Bashan.
13 Their brothers, by families, were Michael, Meshul am, Sheba, Jorai, Jacan, Zia, Eber: seven.	13 Voici leurs 7 frères, par familles: Mikaël, Méchoullam, Chéba, Yoraï, Yakan, Zia, Éber.
14 These were the sons of Abihail: Ben-Huri, Ben-Jaroah, Ben-Gilead, Ben-Michael, Ben-Jeshishai, Ben-Jahdo, Ben-Buz.	14 Voici les fils d’Abihayil: Ben-Houri, Ben-Yaroah, Ben-Galaad, Ben-Mikaël, Ben-Yéchichaï, Ben-Yahdo, Ben-Bouz.
15 Ahi son of Abdiel, son of Guni, was the head of their families.	15 Ahi, fils d’Abdiel, fils de Gouni, était leur chef de clan.
16 They inhabited Gilead, Bashan and its dependencies, as wel as al the pasture lands of Sharon ontheir extremities.	16 Ils s’installèrent en Galaad et dans le Bashan, dans leurs environs et dans tous les pâturages jusqu’aux limites de Charon.
17 In the time of Jotham king of Judah and in the time of Jeroboam king of Israel, al of them wereincluded in the official genealogy.	17 Tous ceux-là furent recensés sous les règnes de Yotam, roi de Juda et de Jéroboam, roi d’Israël.
18 The sons of Reuben, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh had warriors, men armed with shieldand sword who could handle the bow and were trained for war, to the number of forty-four thousand sevenhundred and sixty fit for service.	18 Dans les tribus de Ruben et de Gad, dans la demi-tribu de Manassé, il y avait des guerriers, des hommes qui portaient le bouclier et l’épée, des hommes exercés à la guerre qui tiraient à l’arc: ils étaient 44 760 hommes préparés pour faire la guerre.
19 They made war on the Hagrites, on Jetur, Naphish and Nodab.	19 Ils firent la guerre aux Hagrites, à Yétour, à Nafich et à Nodab.
20 God came to their help, and the Hagrites and al their al ies fel into their hands, for they cal ed on Godas they fought, and because they put their trust in him he heard their prayer.	20 Ils reçurent du secours de Dieu: les Hagrites et tous leurs alliés tombèrent entre leurs mains; ils avaient en effet invoqué Dieu dans la bataille, et lui les avait exaucés, car ils avaient eu confiance en lui.
21 Of their livestock they carried off fifty thousand camels, two hundred and fifty thousand sheep, twothousand donkeys and a hundred thousand people.	21 Ils pillèrent leurs troupeaux: 50 000 chameaux, 250 000 brebis, 2 000 ânes et 100 000 personnes.
22 Because the war was of God, the slaughter was great. They continued to live in their territory until theexile.	22 Dieu avait conduit la bataille, c’est pourquoi ils firent beaucoup de victimes. Ils s’installèrent donc à leur place jusqu’à l’exil.
23 The sons of the half-tribe of Manasseh lived in the territory between Bashan and Baal-Hermon, Senirand Mount Hermon. They were numerous.	23 Les fils de la demi-tribu de Manassé s’installèrent entre le Bashan et Baal-Hermon, le Sénir et la montagne de l’Hermon. Ils étaient nombreux.
24 These were the heads of their families: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, Jahdiel -- stoutfighting men, men of renown, heads of their families.	24 Voici les chefs de leurs clans: Éfer, Yichéï, Éliel, Azriel, Yirméya, Hodaviyas, Yahdiel. C’étaient des guerriers courageux, des hommes renommés, tous chefs de leurs clans.
25 But since they were unfaithful to the God of their ancestors and prostituted themselves to the gods ofthe peoples of the country whom God had destroyed before them,	25 Cependant ils furent infidèles envers le Dieu de leurs pères. Ils se prostituèrent auprès des dieux des nations que Dieu avait exterminées devant eux dans le pays.
26 the God of Israel roused the hostility of Pul, king of Assyria, that is the wrath of Tiglath-Pileser, king ofAssyria who deported them -- the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh -- taking them off toHalah, Habor, Hara and the river of Gozan. They are stil there today.	26 C’est pourquoi le Dieu d’Israël excita le mauvais esprit de Poul, roi d’Assyrie, et celui de Téglat-Phalasar, roi d’Assyrie. Il déporta Ruben, Gad et la demi-tribu de Manassé; il les emmena à Halah, sur le Habor, à Hara et sur le fleuve de Gozan: ils y sont encore aujourd’hui.

30 Eleazar fathered Phinehas, Phinehas fathered Abishua,	30 Éléazar engendra Pinhas; Pinhas engendra Abichoua,
31 Abishua fathered Bukki, Bukki fathered Uzzi.	31 Abichoua engendra Bouki, Bouki engendra Ouzi,
32 Uzzi fathered Zerahiah, Zerahiah fathered Meraioth.	32 Ouzi engendra Zérayas, Zérayas engendra Mérayot,
33 Meraioth fathered Amariah, Amariah fathered Ahitub,	33 Mérayot engendra Amarya, Amarya engendra Ahitoub,
34 Ahitub fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered Ahimaaz.	34 Ahitoub engendra Sadoq, Sadoq engendra Ahimaas,
35 Ahimaaz fathered Azariah, Azariah fathered Johanan.	35 Ahimaas engendra Azarias, Azarias engendra Yohanan,
36 Johanan fathered Azariah. He it was who officiated as priest in the Temple which Solomon built inJerusalem.	36 Yohanan engendra Azarias: il était grand prêtre dans le Temple construit à Jérusalem par Salomon.
37 Azariah fathered Amariah, Amariah fathered Ahitub,	37 Azarias engendra Amarya, Amarya engendra Ahitoub,
38 Ahitub fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered Shallum,	38 Ahitoub engendra Sadoq, Sadoq engendra Challoum,
39 Shallum fathered Hilkiah, Hilkiah fathered Azariah,	39 Challoum engendra Hilkiyas, Hilkiyas engendra Azarias,
40 Azariah fathered Seraiah, Seraiah fathered Jehozadak,	40 Azarias engendra Séraya, Séraya engendra Yosadak
41 and Jehozadak went into exile when, at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, Yahweh exiled Judah andJerusalem.	41 et Yosadak partit lorsque Yahvé déporta Juda et Jérusalem par la main de Nabukodonozor.
