1 David then addressed the whole assembly, 'Solomon my son, whom Yahweh has specifical y chosen,is young and immature, and the work is great; this palace is not for any human being but for Yahweh God.	1 Il re David disse a tutta l'assemblea: « Dio ha eletto uno solo, Salomone mio figlio ancor giovane di tenera età; ma l'opera è grandiosa perchè non si tratta di preparar l'abitazione per un uomo, ma per Iddio.
2 With al the resources I can command, for the house of my God I have provided gold for what must bemade of gold, silver for what must be made of silver, bronze for what must be made of bronze, iron for what mustbe made of iron, wood for what must be made of wood, as well as cornelian for inlay work, slabs of multi-coloured mosaic, every kind of precious stone and quantities of alabaster.	2 Or io con tutte le mie forze ho preparate le spese per la casa del mio Dio: l'oro pei vasi d'oro, l'argento per quelli d'argento, il rame per quei di rame, il ferro per quelli di ferro; i legnami per quei di legno, e pietre d'onice, e pietre simili allo stibio, pietre a vari colori, ogni sorta di pietre preziose e marmo bianco in grandissima quantità.
3 Furthermore, because my affections are set on the house of my God, I have also given what gold andsilver I personal y own for the house of my God, over and above everything which I have already provided for theholy Temple-	3 Oltre a tutte queste cose che ho offerte per la casa di Dio, io dò del mio altro oro ed argento per il tempio del mio Dio, oltre quello che fio preparato pel santuario:
4 that is to say, three thousand talents of gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver foroverlaying the walls of the buildings,	4 tre mila talenti d'oro d'Ofir, sette mila talenti di argento finissimo, per indorare le pareti del tempio.
5 the gold being for what must be made of gold, and the silver for what must be made of silver: and forwhatever the craftsmen must make. Who, then, is wil ing to devote himself to Yahweh's service today?'	5 Dov'è necessario l'oro, i lavori sian fatti d'oro, dov'è necessario l'argento, sian fatti d'argento, per man d'artefici. Or se qualcuno spontaneamente vuol fare delle offerte, empia oggi la sua mano ed offra al Signore ciò che gli parrà bene ».
6 At this, the heads of families, the tribal chiefs of Israel, the commanders of the thousands and thehundreds and those who managed the king's affairs,	6 Allora i capi delle famiglie, i principi delle tribù d'Israele, i tribuni, i centurioni, i sopraintendenti dei possessi del re promisero.
7 volunteered a gift of five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents ofsilver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze and a hundred thousand talents of iron,	7 Poi diedero pei lavori della casa di Dio cinque mila talenti d'oro e dieci mila darici; dieci mila talenti d'argento e diciotto mila di rame, e cento mila talenti di ferro.
8 while those who owned precious stones presented them to the treasury of the house of Yahweh in thecustody of Jehiel the Gershonite.	8 Tutti quelli che possedevano delle pietre preziose le consegnarono a Iahiel Gersonita per i tesori della casa del Signore.
9 The people rejoiced at what these had given so readily, since they had presented their freewilofferings wholeheartedly to Yahweh. King David too was fil ed with joy.	9 Il popolo si rallegrò: aveva promesso spontaneamente le sue offerte e di tutto cuore le offriva al Si­gnore. Anche il re David ne ebbe grande allegrezza,
10 Hence, in the presence of the whole assembly David blessed Yahweh. David said: 'May you beblessed, Yahweh, God of Israel our ancestor, for ever and for ever!	10 e, benedicendo il Signore alla presenza di tutta la moltitudine, disse: « Benedetto sei tu, o Signore Dio d'I­sraele padre nostro di eternità in eternità.
11 Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the splendour, length of days and glory, everything inheaven and on earth is yours. Yours is the sovereignty, Yahweh; you are exalted, supreme over al .	11 Tua, o Signore, è la magnificenza, la potenza, la gloria, la vittoria; tua è la lode, perchè tutte le cose che sono in cielo e in terra son tue. Tuo, o Si­gnore, è il regno, e tu sei sopra tutti i principi.
12 Wealth and riches come from you, you are ruler of all, in your hand lie strength and power, and youbestow greatness and might on whomsoever you please.	12 Tue son le ricchezze, tua è la gloria: tu domini sopra tutte le cose; nella tua mano è la forza e la potenza, nella tua mano la grandezza e l'impero su tutte le cose.
13 So now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your majestic name,	13 Or dunque, o Dio nostro, noi ti celebriamo e lodiamo il nome tuo glorioso.
14 for who am I and what is my people, for us to be able to volunteer offerings like this? - sinceeverything has come from you and we have given you only what you bestowed in the first place,	14 Chi son io, e chi è il mio popolo da poter promettere a te tutte queste cose? Tutto è tuo: ti abbiamo dato quello che dalla tua mano abbiamo ricevuto.
15 and we are guests before you, and passing visitors as were al our ancestors, our days on earthfleeting as a shadow and without hope.	15 Noi dinanzi a te siamo dei pellegrini e degli stranieri, come tutti i nostri padri. I nostri giorni sulla terra son come un'ombra e non c'è mai sosta.
16 Yahweh our God, all this wealth, which we have provided to build a house for your holy name, hascome from you and all belongs to you.	16 Signore Dio nostro, tutta que­st'abbondanza, che noi abbiamo preparata per edificare una casa al tuo santo nome, viene dalla tua mano e tutte le cose son tue.
17 'Knowing, my God, how you examine our motives and how you delight in integrity, with integrity ofmotive I have wil ingly given all this and have been overjoyed to see your people, now present here, wil inglyoffering their gifts to you.	17 Lo so, mio Dio, che tu provi i cuori e ami la semplicità, per que­sto io nella semplicità del mio cuore ho offerto con gioia tutte queste cose, e il tuo popolo qui radunato l'ho visto con gran gioia offrirti i doni.
18 Yahweh, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel our ancestors, watch over this for ever, shape thepurpose of your people's heart and direct their hearts to you,	18 Signore, Dio di Àbramo, di Isacco, di Israele padri nostri, conserva in eterno questa volontà del loro cuore, questo sentimento di venerazione verso di te duri per sempre.
19 and give an undivided heart to Solomon my son to keep your commandments, your decrees andyour statutes, to put them all into effect and to build the palace for which I have made provision.'	19 Tu dà a Salomone mio figlio un cuore perfetto, affinchè custodisca i tuoi comandamenti, le tue leggi, le tue cerimonie, ed eseguendo ogni cosa, edifichi la casa di cui ho preparate le spese ».
20 David then addressed the whole assembly: 'Now bless Yahweh your God!' And the whole assemblyblessed Yahweh, God of their ancestors, bowing down in homage to Yahweh, and to the king.	20 Poi David disse a tutta radunanza: « Benedite il Signore Dio nostro ». Tutta l'adunanza benedisse il Signore Dio dei suoi padri, s'inchinò, adorò Dio e poi il re.
21 On the day fol owing this, they slaughtered sacrifices and brought burnt offerings to Yahweh onbehalf of Israel -- a thousand bul s, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs with their libations, as wel as manyother sacrifices-	21 Immolarono vittime al Si­gnore: e il giorno dopo offrirono in olocausto mille tori, mille mon­toni, mille agnelli, colle loro libazioni, con tutti i riti e in grande abbondanza per tutto Israele.
22 and they ate and drank that day in Yahweh's presence with great joy. They then made Solomon sonof David king a second time, anointing him as leader for Yahweh, and Zadok as priest.	22 Quel giorno mangiarono e bevvero con grande allegrezza davanti al Signore, e unsero per la seconda volta Salomone, figlio di David. Lo unsero pel Signore in principe, e Sadoc in sommo sacerdote.
23 Solomon took his seat on Yahweh's throne, to reign in succession to David his father. He prospered,and all Israel obeyed him.	23 Salomone sedette sul trono del Signore come re, in vece di David suo padre, e fu da tutti gradito e gli ubbidì tutto Israele.
24 Al the chiefs, al the leading citizens and al King David's other sons pledged allegiance to KingSolomon.	24 Tutti i principi, e i magnati, e tutti i figli del re diedero la mano, e furon soggetti al re Salomone.
25 Yahweh made Solomon exceedingly powerful, as all Israel could see, and gave him a reign of suchsplendour as no previous king of Israel ever had.	25 Così il Signore innalzò Salomone sopra tutto Israele o gli diede un regno glorioso, qua­le non l'ebbe prima di lui alcun re d'Israele.
26 David son of Jesse was king of al Israel.	26 Adunque David figlio d'Isai regnò sopra tutto Israele:
27 He was king of Israel for a period of forty years; he reigned at Hebron for seven years, and inJerusalem for thirty-three.	27 il tempo che regnò fu di quarantanni: sette in Ebron; trentatrè in Gerusalemme.
28 He died at a good old age, ful of days, riches and honour. Then his son Solomon succeeded him.	28 Egli morì in prospera vecchiaia, pieno di giorni, di ricchezze e di gloria; e gli successe nel regno il suo figlio Salomone.
29 The history of King David, from first to last, is al written down in the records of Samuel the seer, therecords of Nathan the prophet and the records of Gad the seer,	29 Or le gesta del re David, dalle prime alle ultime sono scritte nel libro del profeta Samuele, nel libro del profeta Natan e nel volume del veggente Gad,
30 with his entire reign, his mighty deeds and the times which he, Israel and al the kings of othercountries, had experienced.	30 colla storia di tutto il suo regno, della sua forza, dei tempi che passarono sotto di lui, sia in Israele die in tutti i regni della terra.
